How Do You Feel About the Smaller Rolling Stone?

On one hand, it feels like the end of an era now that Rolling Stone magazine is shrinking from its oversize format down to a "regular"-sized magazine, starting with the Oct. 30 issue. On the other hand, a smaller mag is easier to carry around and might be easier to read in general.

Why We're Crushing on The Conversation's Amanda de Cadenet

You may not know British TV personality and photographer Amanda de Cadenet yet, but we promise you she's someone you'd want to sit down and have a chat with. Which is exactly what she's doing with a plethora of high-profile women (many of whom are her friends) for her new show The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet. Coproduced by Demi Moore and Amanda, The Conversation is a new Lifetime series premiering April 26 that features intimate, one-on-one interviews between Amanda and various female celebrities, politicians, and musicians on the issues women care about. It's also sprinkled with "real" women on the street answering similar questions.

This week we were lucky enough to chat with Amanda over the phone, and we can't wait to share her musings on her personal relationships and life challenges, her thoughts on hot topics like Fifty Shades of Grey, and what it was like interviewing some of today's most famous and influential women on the tough topics we all can relate to. But first off, who is Amanda de Cadenet and what makes her so cool? Here are six things to know:

Cool runs in the family. Her mom was a model and her dad is a race car driver.
She's a motorcycle mama! Her dad taught her how to ride when she was only 6 years old, and her favored mode of transportation today is her Ducati.
At only 14, she became the host of two TV shows in the UK: The Word and Breakfast.
After her TV gigs, she decided photography was her passion, and she became the youngest woman to shoot a Vogue cover. She's also shot for magazines like Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair, in addition to ad campaigns for Converse, Roxy, and Absolut.
She's got a thing for rockers! Her first husband was Duran Duran bassist John Taylor, and her current hubby is Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi.
The 39-year-old mom has 5-year-old twins with Nick and a 19-year-old daughter from her first marriage.

With many of these intimate discussions taking place on the couch in her own LA home, Amanda isn't afraid to get real about everything from sex positions to body image with such stars as Jane Fonda, Zoe Saldana, Sarah Silverman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Eva Longoria, Gabby Sidibe, and many more. And Amanda is proud of her ladies, telling us that they all make great role models. She said, "They're kind women. They're very compassionate. They're very down-to-earth, and they are truly women's women. You know how people say, 'She's not a women's woman'? These woman are."

George Clooney Talks Stacy Keibler and Shares His Award Show Routine in Rolling Stone

George Clooney is front and center on the latest issue of Rolling Stone. He's promoting his upcoming family drama The Descendants, of which he says, "if it's not nominated for Best Picture, I'll be shocked. It's that good," and has been all over the world on press for the film. George's girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, has been a staple by his side during many red-carpet appearances, though the couple recently took a break from the spotlight to enjoy downtime in Mexico. George talked about his new love, his speedy award show routine, and the public's misconceptions of him in the magazine. Here's more from George Clooney in Rolling Stone:

On the public's perception of his life: "I think one of the major misconceptions about me is that I live my life the way people think I lead my life, with hot and cold drinks running everywhere and a party all the time. They think of my life in terms of certain excesses that don't really exist. Things are actually fairly simple."
On being low maintenance: "I'm the least metrosexual cat you've ever met. I've never had my fingernails or toenails done, and I've cut my own hair longer than other people have cut my hair. On an awards show day, I can play basketball, go in, take a shower and put on a tux - it takes me three minutes to put on a tux - and be out the door in 15 minutes."
On Stacy's tweeting habits: "She can do whatever she wants. I rarely tell anybody what they should be doing with their life."

9 Ways We Still Waste Money

I'd like to believe that I've perfectly honed my ability to spend money in a way that benefits me now - and will continue to do so in the future. However, just when I think I've got it all figured out, that's when the rug is pulled out from under my checking account (so to speak). Little slip-ups here and there seem harmless and unavoidable but when I really step back and examine my financial decision-making on a daily basis, I notice that there are plenty of areas still left to improve. If you're anything like me, you might need to work on them, too.

Buying brand names

While there are definite differences between certain brand name products and their cheaper generic counterparts, most of the time, there is absolutely no discernible distinction apart from the packaging and the inflated price. Toasted Oats are just as good as Cheerios and nobody will ever know the thrifty secret (especially if you're one of those people who transfers all dry cereal to a plastic container rather than saving the box).

Overspending on your car

Most contemporary cars are designed to use regular gas and putting premium fuel into that system will not improve the car's performance in any way (think of it as the mechanical version of the misguided belief that "well, beta carotene can help prevent night blindness so if I eat a ton of carrots, my eyesight will never stop improving"). Conversely, cars designed to run on premium will not find any sort of drop-off with regular gas. So why pay more for the same results?

Additionally, many modern cars can traditionally go longer between oil changes (especially if you're using synthetic oil), meaning you don't need to make as many costly trips to the mechanic. A better idea for constant vehicle maintenance is to just monitor your tire pressure to ensure you're getting the best gas mileage possible in between those actually necessary oil changes.

Rihanna sported a pair of skimpy, chainmail cutoffs and her trademark red mane for the upcoming issue of Rolling Stone. It's one of two April magazine covers for the singer, who also fronts the latest installment of Vogue. Rihanna opened up about her sense of style and how her relationship with Chris Brown changed her approach to dating in the fashion bible, and she apparently talks sexting and bad boys in the music magazine. She's been linked to hot stars from Ryan Phillippe to Colin Farrell since splitting from Chris, but now seems to be pouring most of her energy into her recording and acting careers. Rihanna's still planning a North American tour despite rumors of its cancellation, and also has her big-screen debut in Battleship to look forward to in 2012.

Liv Tyler had her American Idol judge father, Steven, on her arm for the LA premiere of her new movie Super last night. The Aerosmith frontman has been busy promoting his Fox program and bonding with his new buds Ryan Seacrest and Jennifer Lopez, but he seemed happy to support his daughter's big evening and even show some paternal PDA. Her costars in the indie superhero film Ellen Page and Rainn Wilson also stepped onto the red carpet, and later Rainn and Liv tore up the dance floor with their crazy moves. Liv has been focusing on her East Coast social schedule recently alongside her rumored boyfriend Theo Wenner, who is both the son of Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner and a photographer who memorably shot Robert Pattinson for Dossier magazine in 2009.

US Healthcare System Is "Evil," Bieber Says

If Justin Bieber can make preteens swoon, maybe, just maybe . . . he'll be able to sway politicians on the healthcare debate. Here's what he told the Rolling Stone magazine when asked if he would switch from being Canadian to a US citizen. Bieber says:

You guys are evil. Canada's the best country in the world. We go to the doctor and we don't need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you're broke because of medical bills. My bodyguard's baby was premature, and now he has to pay for it. In Canada, if your baby's premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home.

The Bieber Fever is a power to be reckoned with, so perhaps we shouldn't discount what the 16-year-old Casanova has to say. "Evil" is a little harsh, but do you agree with the gist of what Bieber is saying?

Justin Bieber Shares His View on Sex - Cute or Could Have Done Without?

Justin Bieber, clad in a leather jacket, was photographed by Terry Richardson for the March issue of Rolling Stone. The singer is out promoting his documentary Never Say Never, which he premiered last week and has since gone on to enjoy an impressive opening weekend. The 16-year-old pop star went on to chat about more than just the movie inside the magazine, also touching on topics like politics, abortion, and sex. He said of sex, "I don't think you should have sex with anyone unless you love them. . . I think you should just wait for the person you're. . . in love with." It's a rather personal comment from Justin, so tell us - do you think his quotes are cute or could you have done without his thoughts on the matter?

They're here! The September 2011 issue of Vogue features all the exclusive Mario Testino-lensed pictures from Kate Moss's July wedding. Kate and her now-husband Jamie Hince posed for romantic photos on their big day, and the magazine also features rare images of Kate with her daughter Lila - Kate usually goes to great lengths to keep her child out of the spotlight. Kate went on to speak about their wedding planner, Sam Gainsbury, and the 138 guests, 39 of which were kids, at their ceremony in Southrop, England. The couple apparently left the church to the Rolling Stones song, "You Can’t Always Get What You Want." Kate told Hamish Bowles about what motivated her and Jamie to tie the knot, her mild case of bridal fever, and more. She said:

On deciding to get married: "We were just so loved up, and he asked me to marry him every day. . . . [The show Big Fat Gypsy Wedding changed everything] . . . I am so romantic about gypsies. They’re not allowed to do anything until they get married. So they all get married really young, at 16. You can’t believe the dresses. They’re like blinging butterflies times 10; they can’t move down the aisle! It’s so genius. I was just watching Jamie, so cute, and I was like, these girls, they just spend their whole life waiting for that day - let’s do it!"

Jamie thinks I’m mad, asking, ‘Are you gonna be all right? After the wedding, I’m hoping you’ll get back to normal!'"
