Are You Interested in Seeing Ray Romano on TV Again?

We were just talking about Seinfeld's upcoming reappearances on TV, and while most of you are looking forward to seeing Seinfeld again, some of you are over it. I was recently reading this piece about Penelope Ann Miller joining Ray Romano's new series, Men of a Certain Age on TNT, and it struck me that here we have another former comedian-turned-sitcom-star returning to the airwaves.

I wasn't as big a fan of Everybody Loves Raymond as I was of Seinfeld, so I'm personally feeling pretty neutral about seeing Romano on TV again, but I know he has plenty of fans out there who will be excited for his return.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to seeing Romano on the small screen once more?

Ray Romano: Self-Appointed Fat, Neurotic Loser in TNT Drama

In case you've always wanted to see Ray Romano's more serious side, you're in luck: The formerly loved-by-everybody actor is trying his hand at drama for TNT.

The network has ordered a pilot for Men of a Certain Age, about three male friends approaching middle age together. Romano and Raymond producer Mike Royce wrote the pilot episode, and, as a surprisingly self-aware Romano said in a TNT statement:

"Mike and I have always had success writing what we know. What we know now is that we’re middle aged, neurotic and fat."

Romano's character, Joe, is a divorced father of two who wanted to be a professional golfer but runs a party supply store instead. One of his best friends, Owen, is a stressed-out dad who sells cars at a dealership owned by his own father; his other BFF, Terry, is offbeat, handsome, smart, and still incapable of making it as an actor. TNT is describing the show as a wry, character-based drama, and though it's just at the pilot stage, the gushing comments from network bosses ("Men of a Certain Age is a very special project for TNT," etc) make me think this is going to end up on our TVs before long.

Great TV Wedding Moments: "Everybody Loves Raymond"

As we've mentioned, it's wedding planning mania here on the Sugar Network, and throughout the next couple of weeks, I'll be sharing some of my favorite wedding moments from television.

"Everybody Loves Raymond" is not my favorite TV show. Sometimes it's worth a chuckle, but I find most of the jokes to be trite and I've gotten supremely sick of watching Ray's mother Marie be so mean to her daughter-in-law. I do, however, enjoy the character of Amy, Robert's virginal girlfriend-turned-wife.

The episode in which she and Robert get married is, of course, fraught with in-law fighting until Raymond saves the day with his best man speech. Then - and this is the part that makes me cry a little - Robert and Amy do their first dance (which is choreographed!) to "A Little Less Conversation." I don't know why this moment gets to me so much ... they just look so happy! Okay, enough blubbering, to watch the clip

The Office, "Search Committee": Best Lines of the Night

Dunder Mifflin is closed for the Summer, so to speak - The Office has its season finale this week, with Jim, Toby, and Gabe on the hunt for a new manager. They're tasked with interviewing candidates for the open position (including the woman who may be coming in permanently, Catherine Tate), while Creed sits in as acting manager, instituting his specific brand of crazy. As the promos promised, there is a host of familiar faces up for the job, like Ray Romano, James Spader, Will Arnett, and Jim Carrey, and they each have pretty good bits.

The conference room is hardly the only place for laughs though; when Angela gets engaged and Erin tries to get Andy's attention, everyone seems to have at least one funny moment. So as we say goodbye to another season of The Office, let's go over some of the best lines from the finale when you

Phyllis: "It was a big year for babies. Porky's had come out."
Erin: "I'm sure I was just another Porky's baby. But why not find out." - Phyllis and Erin wait to find out if Erin is the baby Phyllis gave up for adoption years ago
"Shut up about the sun. Shut up about the sun!" - Gabe, yelling at Andy for spouting off so many facts in his interview
Dwight: "What's your daughter's name again? Pee Pee?"
Jim: "Peepa."
Dwight: "Peepa. That's great." - Dwight tries to make small talk with Jim so he'll be considered for the manger job
"Angela went a whole day without telling me I had lettuce in my teeth. Screw her." - Phyllis, voting against telling Angela that her fiancé is gay

Warren Buffett to Guest Star on The Office

Wow, I knew money could get you far, but who knew it would be able to snag you a highly coveted guest star spot on the hit TV show The Office? Warren Buffett is set to appear in the season finale of The Office. He's not the only big name who will be featured in that episode, but certainly the most surprising one. Buffett is just one of the many guest actors who are competing for Michael's job as manager of the Dunder Mifflin office. Other stars lined up for the season finale include Ricky Gervais, Jim Carrey, Ray Romano, and James Spader.

Variety explains how Buffett got the gig:

Buffett enlisted the "Office" cast for a skit shown in April at the annual shareholders meeting for his company, Berkshire Hathaway. Carell appeared in the skit, in which Buffett pretends to take over for Michael Scott as the head of the Scranton branch of fictional "Office" company Dunder Mifflin.

This is not Buffett's first time appearing on TV. The billionaire has made cameos in two episodes on the All My Children soap opera. Personally, I think Buffett will make a bigger splash on The Office. After all, management is definitely his forte!

The Office, "Inner Circle": Best Lines of the Night

Last week we said goodbye to Michael Scott on The Office, and this week we say goodbye to his replacement Deangelo Vickers, guest star Will Ferrell. The group is starting to adjust with Deangelo as their new boss when he starts employing some techniques that alienate some off the workers, like the establishment of an inner circle.

Everyone seems pretty eager to kiss up to him, save for Dwight, who resists Deangelo's attempts to make him like him. And just as Deangelo is earning some opposition to his possibly sexist leadership style, he's taken out of the equation physically. Ferrell's swan song contains some pretty funny lines, so to talk about the episode and go over the funniest quotes, just

"And if he doesn't listen, then he can kiss his penis goodbye. Snip Snip. Am I right girls?" - Andy, getting caught up in the discussion of whether Deangelo is sexist
"He's just a big fraud, Deangelo. He's like Rango. He doesn't work here, basically, just like the way Rango didn't save those animals, it was just a big misunderstanding." - Kelly, calling out Ryan for pretending to be her boss
"The man is paying me to learn Chinese. I will say what I need to say. And soon, I will say it in Chinese." - Daryl, justifying his sucking up to Deangelo because he's getting sent to night school
"So one afternoon while walking home from school, quirky tenth grader Becky Walters finds a wounded Pegasus in the woods and she becomes . . . The Horse Flyer!" - Pam, explaining her idea for a series of young adult novels she wants to write
"If I wanted to see a pissing contest, I'd lock Mose in the chicken coop." - Dwight, brushing off Deangelo's request to come watch him play basketball against Jim

In the words of Jim, what now? There are a couple more weeks until the season finale when we'll see a few more guest stars (like Ray Romano and Jim Carrey) interview for the job, but you know the Scranton branch needs a more permanent replacement.
