Elle hosted a VIP dinner at The Box in NY for Julia Stiles' and her new film Raving which she wrote, directed and stars in along with Zooey Deschanel. It's screening at the Tribeca Film Festival where Julia plans to showcase her talent beyond just acting. She also just announced her latest challenge - she's bringing the bestselling book The Bell Jar to the big screen. We love Julia in the Bourne flicks and she obviously has grown a lot since 10 Things I Hate About You.

Zooey Deschanel to Star in Julia Stiles' Short Film

Elle Magazine just got so much cooler: The women's magazine is getting into the production business, and it's kicking off a series of "creative projects" with a short film directed by Julia Stiles and starring Zooey Deschanel. The 20-minute movie, titled Raving, is about two strangers in New York "on destructive paths who, over the course of an extended encounter that starts out hostile, nudge each other toward something better." The film debuts on May 8 on the Sundance Channel.

As a 26-year-old who has never done anything remotely like directing, Stiles may seem like a shaky choice for this kind of project. But Deschanel's co-star, Bill Irwin, told Elle he was very impressed with her abilities:

"As an actor - and this is the ultimate compliment - I would love to do it again," says the Tony-winning Irwin. "A first-time director can give you pause, but even under the pressure of a four-day shoot when it's 102 degrees, Julia had the presence of mind to stop and think-and then say something just right."

In fact, the trailer for the film looks pretty good, especially the part at the end when Deschanel is singing "Hello, Dolly!" in her sultry voice. Check out the preview and tell me what you think.

I can't rave enough about the wonders of Nature's Miracle when potty training or cleaning pup's playthings. However, truthfully, I haven't stocked a bottle since my pet was a wee babe since he's got the peeing thing down pat. However, many dogs can have a repeat problem with stuff coming out the other end.

Yesterday morning, my poor pooch threw up on his bed and then hid in my bedroom, looking as embarrassed as this doxie. Since I didn't want to deal with laundry right before rushing to work, but also didn't want to let the stain (and smell) set in, I went into my kitchen and grabbed two staples.

Instead of tap water, I scrubbed the area with a small amount of club soda and let it dry while taking a shower. When I got out, I sprinkled the spot with baking soda and headed to work, crating my pup. But the transformation didn't stop there. Williams watched Monroe's movies non-stop, studied her voice and perfected her famous wiggle, which she practiced by tying a belt around her knees, according to Newsweek. She also had to bleach her hair every few days, so it wouldn't show under her blond wig, and spent hours in makeup each day. The finished product? Bravo! Williams morphed into Marilyn with uncanny results (based on the sneak peek in the trailer). But she's not the first actress to gain weight for a role - and look hot doing it.
