Well, the results are in, and we now have movies that will forever be known as Oscar-winning. A lot of you said you go see the films once they're nominated, but if you didn't get to all of them before Sunday's show, maybe now's the time. Some people were so smitten with Marion Cotillard's acceptance speech that they want to rush out to see La Vie En Rose for her performance. Others want to check out There Will Be Blood so they know why everyone is talking about milkshakes. What about you? Which Oscar-winner is next on your list of must-sees?

TV Guide reports that Tom Petty has been picked for the Super Bowl halftime show.
Christian Bale is in talks to play John Connor in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, reports Variety.
Amy Sedaris, Chris Kattan, and Tom Everett Scott will star in Tanner Hall, an indie film set at a boarding school that started its life as a failed UPN pilot, writes The Hollywood Reporter.
Rosie Thomas, Califone, and Mark Kozelek are among the musicians pitching in on a new compilation with songs about every U.S. president, Pitchfork reports.
Ratatouille leads the field with 13 nominations for the Annie Awards, which recognize achievements in animation, writes The Hollywood Reporter.
NBC is buying blocks of reality and "adventure" programming from the producers of Ice Road Truckers, reports The New York Times.
Michelle Trachtenberg and Melora Hardin (Jan from The Office) will join Zac Efron and Matthew Perry in the movie 17, writes Zap2It.

What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and Netflix) on Tuesdays. So each week in What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday, I sort through the best of the batch and tell you what to add to your queue.

Ratatouille
This sweet, funny Pixar film was the summer's biggest animated hit (because let's face it, Shrek the Third was pretty unnecessary). And what's not to love? There's a rat who likes to cook and a dorky, gangly human who wants to cook but can't seem to separate the cilantro from the basil. So they team up, of course. Adventures ensue.

The DVD features some extras, like deleted scenes and a new animated short film. There's also a featurette in which master chef and restaurateur Thomas Keller explains how he brought his culinary expertise to the film.

Two more new releases I'd recommend if you read more

Seinfeld - Season Nine
This 4-disc set of the final Seinfeld season includes all 24 episodes of the season and plenty of extra features. In addition to bloopers and deleted scenes, there are episode-specific "making of" documentaries, and apparently a featurette in which Jerry and friends defend the final episode of the series which disappointed many a Seinfeld fan.

If you're not satisfied with just the ninth season DVD set of the show TV Guide called the greatest of all time, well, there's the complete series (as in, all the seasons of Seinfeld) also releasing on DVD today.

Flight of the Conchords - Season One
Okay, if you haven't seen this HBO series you're going to want to Netflix this first season, and if you have seen this series, your DVD set is probably already in the mail from Amazon. Flight of the Conchords follows a two-man digi-folk band from New Zealand that travels to New York in the hopes of "making it big." They simply cannot help bursting into song at every opportunity, and that is hilarious. If you are a fan of shows like The Office, you'll probably want to check out the Conchords.

Box Office: Harry Potter, Of Course!

Harry Potter and Company made all sorts of money - both here and overseas - over the five-day opening for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Earning a tremendous $140 million nationally and $330 million worldwide, this fifth movie in the Harry Potter franchise had the best five-day opening of a non-holiday movie ever. Order of the Phoenix is on track to be the highest-grossing of all the Harry Potter movies.

Despite the mesmerizing spell cast by Potter, other summer favorites didn't fall behind very much. Transformers held its own at No. 2 with $36 million, while Ratatouille stayed strong at No. 3. In fourth place was Live Free or Die Hard with License to Wed following behind. This doesn't appear to be the summer for torture porn, however, as Captivity opened to a dismal $1.5 million and came in at No. 12. This weekend it will be interesting to see if Harry Potter can bewitch his way to No. 1 even in the rotund face of John Travolta getting his groove on in Hairspray.

Box Office: Transformers Pummel Their Way to No. 1

Unsurprisingly, Transformers took the No. 1 spot at the box office over the July 4th weekend. Having opened on Tuesday July 3, ticket sales easily broke Tuesday box office records and then went on to rope in summertime moviegoers the rest of the weekend, taking $152 million over the course of its 6 1/2-day opening, and approximately $67 million for just the weekend. The movie just barely beat out 2002's Spider-Man as the highest-grossing 7-day opening of any non-sequel.

In second place was Pixar's Ratatouille with $29 million and Live Free or Die Hard came up at No. 3 with $17.4 million. In fourth place with $10.4 for the weekend was License to Wed, and Evan Almighty took a respectable $8 million at No. 5.

Opening this Wednesday, of course, is the little wizard that could, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Surely Potter and friends can work some magic on these box office numbers.

Ratatouille Heats Up the Box Office

How many puns can we make about Ratatouille, the animated movie about a rat chef, taking the top slot at the box office this weekend? Ratatouille deep fries Die Hard at the box office? Ratatouille slices and dices the competition? Ratatouille gently folds in the ingredients for success?

Bringing in a sizzling (wow, this is fun) $47 million its opening weekend, Ratatouille easily came in first place, beating out Live Free or Die Hard, which raked in $33 million. Evan Almighty was No. 3, though had a much weaker showing than its opening weekend with just $15 million, which doesn't spell good things for the comedy that cost a mighty penny.

1408 continues to do exceptionally well for a summer thriller, taking fourth place. Michael Moore's documentary Sicko came in ninth with $4.5 million - the second-highest opening ever for a documentary (second only to Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11). Sad disappointment Evening groggily limped behind Sicko in tenth place.

Unfortunately, the reign of the little Pixar rodents will most likely be short lived. Transformers opens this Tuesday, just in time to rope in the July 4th vacationers looking for a cool theater and gigantic robot cars. Well, License to Wed also opens this week, but something tells me that movie won't provide too much competition for the Transformers. And that something is Robin Williams.

Ratatouille: BuzzSugar Recommended, YumSugar Approved

Pixar's latest feast for the eyes, Ratatouille, opens today and my girl YumSugar tells me it's fantastic. The animation alone is impressive, as is usually the case with good ol' Pixar, and the story sounds funny and sweet: Remy the food snob rat finds himself in the kitchen of Paris' famous restaurant Gasteau's, helping the clumsy dishwasher Linguini save a ruined soup. From there the two become great friends, and through Linguini, Remy gets the chance to be a regular - if hidden - chef at Gasteau's.

What's Buzzworthy? Animated Family Movies

This Friday, Ratatouille hits theaters nationwide, and I can't wait. I'm a sucker for anything Pixar, and I've loved many of the animated family movies that have come out in recent years - especially The Incredibles and the Shrek movies. I'll go to the theaters to see these movies even when I don't have a child (read: legitimate excuse) to bring with me.

Watch 9 Minutes of Disney's Ratatouille, Today Only

In an early promotional stunt, Disney is featuring nine minutes of their upcoming summer flick Ratatouille on Disney.com - for today (May 1) only. The animated family movie focuses on Remy the rat who wants to be the greatest chef in Paris. He finds that he just might have a chance when he teams up with the clumsy kitchen worker Linguini.

The animation has all of Pixar's usual magnificence, and Remy is a cute, lovable character... er, he's as cute and lovable as a rat can be. Still, it's hard to get past the natural nausea induced from watching a rat skitter around a kitchen - leaping on plates, climbing around pots, and wriggling in food. Shudder. Aside from that, however, it looks to be another sweet, well-done title for Disney-Pixar's arsenal of entertaining family films. If you have nine minutes today, Ratatouille is definitely worth a watch.
