Acording to a poll conducted by RadioTimes, (a kind of UK TV Guide) Hugh Laurie of House is the Brit who does the best American accent on TV. In second place is Anna Friel from Pushing Daisies, followed by Michelle Ryan of the ill-fated Bionic Woman. Damian Lewis takes the fourth spot for his work on Band of Brothers, and the stars of The Riches, Minnie Driver and Eddie Izzard are at the fifth and sixth spots, respectively.

Vanessa Paradis Addresses Johnny Depp Breakup Rumors at Her Premiere

Vanessa Paradis hit the red carpet solo last night for a screening of her movie Café de Flore. She first started premiering the film last year at various film festivals, and it is finally due to arrive in French theaters tomorrow. Vanessa posed for photos with Marin Gerrier and Jean-Marc Vallée, and later reported to the afterparty at Chez Castel nightclub. She did limited interviews, but in one conversation, spoke about her rumored split from Johnny Depp. Vanessa Paradis told France's Radio 1, "You know, when I eat three peas, I'm pregnant. When I visit a city, I'm buying a house. In the Winter I separate, in the Summer I marry. It's been 15 years since I've been getting married every year. In addition, I have to answer all these rumors!"

Vanessa and Johnny are said to have split after nearly 14 years together. However, the pair seem to be staying close for the benefit of their children, 12-year-old Lily-Rose and 9-year-old Jack. The family has traditionally split their time between LA and France. Vanessa and the children rang in 2012 from the West Coast, but she's been in France for the last week to promote her new big screen project and also enjoy some of the fun of Couture Fashion Week.

The other day I wrote about how my new hairstyle has improved my outlook. I also mentioned that I'm fortunate enough to blog for a wonderful local hair salon, and I'm able to trade my writing services for hair and beauty treatments. It's an awesome exchange! Even if you're not lucky enough to have your hairstylist on retainer, there are still tons of ways to treat and pamper yourself, as well as your family, without spending a ton of money. These are tough economic times. Throughout my working life, I've had various periods of ups and downs with my finances. The times when I was the least happy were the ones in which I constantly denied myself. Living in a mindset of lack or want is not healthy. It's no good for you, and it's no good for your loved ones. So I'm going to get you started with a list of things you can do to add some fun and pampering to your life without spending the big bucks that so many of us just don't have right now.

Julianne Hough Works Out in a Bikini While Ryan Seacrest Jet-Skis Shirtless

Julianne Hough and Ryan Seacrest had a fun afternoon in the St. Barts sun on Tuesday. She joined shirtless Ryan Seacrest for a round of jet-skiing, which ended when he fell off into the water. Next, Julianne wore a bikini for a workout on a stationary bike. The couple continued their relaxing Caribbean day with a walk on the beach, where they ran into pals Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman. Julianne, Ryan, Rachel, and Rodger moved their party to a nearby house for picture taking and champagne.

Ryan's relaxing getaway comes ahead of a busy time of year. He has award season duties on top of his regular radio show and producing gigs, but he may not be returning to his American Idol spot. Ryan's American Idol contract is up, and after 11 seasons with the series, he could be replaced as host. We may still see him on the small screen, though, since there are rumors that he might join the cast of Today.

Cranberry Sauce Sour Cream Muffins

It seems we're all about ways to use up cranberries and cranberry sauce over here. FreshTart has provided us with a great way to use up leftover Thanksgiving cranberry sauce. The result is seriously mouthwatering muffins.

As I mentioned below, I had the pleasure of chatting all things leftovers on Saturday morning, on the Fresh & Local radio show, with host Susan Berkson and Mike Madison of local hip hop group Unknown Prophets. While Mike is a musician by trade, he is also a fantastic cook. His passion for teaching children about good food is completely contagious. We had a great time talking about cooking fresh food, reaching out to chefs like Mike DeCamp at La Belle Vie for ideas and tips, and how involving children in meal preparation is The Way to encourage them to try new and different foods.

Since I had a nice amount of cranberry sauce leftover, I made up a batch of muffins and took them with me to AM950. Despite the fact that I forgot to put sugar in them - I baked them at 6:30 am, hey - the muffins got the thumbs up from Mike and Susan, and from my family, to such a degree that I've made them twice more.

Announcing the 2012 Grammy Award Nominations

For the second year in a row, the Recording Academy has given a hip-hop artist the most Grammy nominations. Last year, it was rapper Eminem with eight, and this year, Kanye West leads the nominees with seven chances at the golden gramophone, including a song of the year nod for "All of the Lights." West is also nominated twice in the rap album of the year category for his collaboration with Jay-Z on Watch the Throne and his own album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Brit crooner Adele wasn't far behind Kanye, picking up six nominations for her album 21, as well as a shot at song of the year with "Rolling in the Deep."

Bruno Mars also did well, racking up six nominations (that's down one from last year for those keeping track), while newcomers like Nicki Minaj and dubstep artist Skrillex are up for the best new artist category. 5 Firms With Good Customer Policies and 5 That Need Improvement

Consumer Reports released their annual Naughty & Nice Holiday List that judges the customer service policies of several companies. The list is based upon opinions of editors and reporters of the personal finance magazine and isn't a reflection of a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" for the companies, says the magazine. Read on for a list of naughty and nice companies followed by supporting praises and complaints.

Nice:

Amazon: The company encourages customers to share feedback about and photos of the products. This information is shared with the retailers who will modify the products according to the feedback in order to receive Amazon's “Certified Frustration-Free” logo.
American Express: If you buy an item and can't return it within 90 days, Amex will refund the full price up to $300 per purchase. Each account can be reimbursed up to $1,000 every year.
Costco: Great return policy and free tech support. It also automatically extends the warranty of TVs and computers to two years after the purchase date.
Microsoft: If you don't like your new Microsoft software or piece of hardware, you can get a refund if you return it within 45 days. The firm will also reimburse the costs of shipping for up to $7.
REI: Great return policies - accepts returns at all times and for all reasons. You can return the item at any REI store or by mail.

Naughty:

AirTran: Flights don't include the price of the seat. If you want to select your seat, you'll have to pay an extra $6 to $20 each way.
American Apparel: Two different return policies for items bought in-store and online. You have 45 days to return an online purchase for a refund or credit. On the other hand, you only have 30 days to return an item bought at the store for credit.
RadioShack: The company sometimes charges different prices for the same product.
Southwest Airlines: You need to pay $10 to check in earlier than the standard 24 hours before departure. Consumer Reports says, "It’s another reminder that a basic ticket doesn’t buy much these days, and how price-conscious customers can get penalized if they don’t go for the upgrade."
Verizon Wireless: The alert system for notifying customers who are reaching their monthly allotment of minutes isn't always reliable.

Expensive Headphones

You don't need studio-quality headphones unless you're a record producer, and online reviews of expensive headphones have shown that a lot of people can't tell a lot of difference between a $50 pair and a $200 pair. I own a pair of headphones that I use at work that cost less than $30, and have done an excellent job of blocking out noise when I'm trying to focus.

Popcorn maker

Why spend $30 or more on an electric popcorn maker when a microwavable bag does the trick? Unless you're pumping out popcorn like a movie theater, this kitchen gadget is just taking up space in your cupboard.

Digital Camera

Once upon a time, digital cameras were powerful enough to make Kodak film a thing of the past. Now, everyone has high quality camera options on their smartphones, and digital cameras are becoming obsolete. If you really want to take great photos, a digital SLR is the way to go, but for everyday photo-taking, your phone will do just fine.

High tech toys
