There are some cinematic couplings that are so full of cuteness that I get giddy at the thought of them reuniting. Steve Martin and Diane Keaton are one such couple, having totally endeared themselves to me in Father of the Bride (I just pretend that little sequel doesn't exist).
Now, these two may couple up again for One Big Happy, a comedy by Party of Five creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman.

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and Netflix) on Tuesdays. So each week in What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday, I sort through the best of the batch and tell you what to add to your queue. In addition to the titles below, you can watch some very funny recorded improv comedy starring Amy Poehler when you rent The Upright Citizens Brigade: Asssscat!

It was an American Idol rarity this week: The judges saving Matt a week ago led to two Idol hopefuls heading home on Wednesday. Suddenly, a hefty group of seven has become a much slimmer top five. Was Matt spared another week, or was it his turn (again) to be voted off?

Right off the bat in this episode of The Office, Kevin is double fisting icy treats: a Popsicle and an ice cream cone. This is an awesome way to open any episode of anything. From there we learn that Angela got a new cat (and then we learn, um, quite a bit more about Angela and her cats), and we watch Jim and Dwight continue to plan Kelly's birthday party.

Among my favorite Oscar moments was Hugh Jackman's opening number, in which he took a recession-inspired look at the year's five Best Picture nominees. I had a feeling things were going to go well when I saw the Slumdog Millionaire set with pizza boxes for TV monitors, but it got better with Hugh posing in the wooden Benjamin Button cutouts and hit its high point with "I haven't seen The Reader!"
It was great live, but it's only in pictures that I've really noticed all the funny details.

Hope you got the special specs out last night because the 3-D episode of Chuck was actually pretty impressive. Granted, I was watching in HD and with the proper yellow-and-blue eyewear, but I was legitimately wowed by the special effects: Chuck's flashes seemed particularly well-suited for the technology. But even without the extra dimensions, the episode still worked on the regular ol' funny-spy-stuff level.

Merry Moroccan Christmas, Office fans! I really think this week's episode is totally old-school Office goodness, which is a great way to end the 2008 episodes. Plenty of superuncomfortable, cringe-worthy moments mixed with hilarious things and Jam cuteness and — perhaps my favorite part of all — another Jim prank for Dwight!
