Announcing the, Um, "Winners": The 2009 Razzies

On the day when we celebrate Hollywood's finest, let's also take a moment to celebrate its worst. The 2009 Razzies were presented on Saturday, dinging The Love Guru with the title of Worst Picture and putting three separate awards in Paris Hilton's hands.

Hilton was named both Worst Actress and Worst Supporting Actress, plus she nabbed a share of Worst Screen Couple for The Hottie and the Nottie. Meanwhile, The Love Guru ended up with three total awards as well, adding Worst Actor and Worst Screenplay to its haul. Amazingly, The Happening emerged unscathed, despite its four nominations.

Movie News: Allison Janney, Paris Hilton and Pee-Wee?

Weeeeird. . . There's no title yet, and plot details are limited, but this movie news caught my eye today because it's a bizarre collection of people. Apparently, there's an indie movie in the works that:

. . . will be directed by Todd Solondz (Welcome to the Dollhouse, Happiness).
. . . will star Allison Janney, Charlotte Rampling, Paris Hilton and Paul Reubens (known to many as Pee-Wee Herman).
. . . is described as "a dramatic comedy about family against the backdrop of a war. The movie will take off on elements from the director's breakout Happiness, in a project producers are describing as a 'part-sequel, part-variation' on that film."

Any Todd Solondz fans out there? Think this could be kind of awesome in a twisted sort of way? Should Paris be in movies?

Again: Weeeeird.

Paris Hilton Cast in Futuristic Thriller Musical

The News: Paris Hilton has been cast in "Repo! The Genetic Opera," a musical thriller set in 2056 about trying to find an expensive organ transplant needed to repopulate the earth after the plague.

Am I Making This Up? No.

Who Can I Blame: The production companies and director of "Saw" who have been working with screenwriters-composers on the script for years.

Will She Be Singing? Yes, though the producers assert that she auditioned just like everyone else and she was the best woman for the job.

Upside: This is so ludicrous it might just be awesome(ly bad), right? I'm definitely curious to hear more about this project.

TV Tonight: Nicole Without Paris on "Letterman"

Unfortunately for Dave, it just wasn't in the cards for him to get both halves of the notorious Paris/Nicole duo on tonight's show. The more diminutive starlet, Nicole, will be in the house to wax philosophical about "The Simple Life Goes to Camp," but the heiress who invented Famous For No Reason, Paris, is stuck behind bars.

While Nicole will surely keep things squarely on the ridiculous side of the spectrum, it's just not the same level of (sometimes unintentional) hilarity as when the girls are both around. Tune in to see how many different words for "jail" Dave will work into the broadcast! My guess is six.

Bad Idea of the Week #2: Nicole Richie to Help Overweight Kids

Some weeks, there are just too many bad ideas. Yesterday, for instance, I thought the new reality show called "Baby Borrowers" sounded bad, but next to this news, it's downright highbrow.

For the fifth season of "The Simple Life" on E!, Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton will be camp counselors, and apparently, part of that job entails counseling overweight kids at a "weight loss" camp. An E! spokesperson reportedly told Us Weekly:

"The camp has five different themes. Each week will be a different theme. And yes, one week is a weight loss/fitness camp. It's not a fat camp."

Yeah, right. Whatever you choose to call it, E!, the fact remains: a frighteningly thin woman who clearly has weight issues and who recently didn't think drinking water was all that important is supposed to offer children guidance regarding health and wellness.

Even if the weight-loss camp thing turns out not to be true - though I wouldn't put it past E! - the thought of Paris and Nicole counseling kids about anything is pretty scary. What do you guys think?
