Netflix Will Stream Paramount, Lionsgate, and MGM Films

Big news for streaming Netflix fans - the company just signed a multiyear deal to bring you more options to your streaming Netflix queue from Paramount, Lionsgate, and MGM.

In partnership with EPIX (a pay TV company that holds the rights to new films), beginning on Sept. 1, Netflix will get streaming rights to movies from these three film houses 90 days after they're released to subscription TV services. So when Killers hits On-Demand, you'll only have to wait 90 days to stream it to your Wii, PS3, or Xbox 360 via Netflix. Or, you know, insert movie title here.

Transformers 3 Coming July of . . . Some Year

Transformers fans were all a-flutter earlier this week with the news that Paramount has set the date for the third movie: July 1, 2011. Though neither Shia LaBeouf nor director Michael Bay was confirmed for the third movie (and there's still no writer), apparently "Paramount insiders . . . said the studio wanted to claim the date before a competitor did, considering that the 2011 summer release calendar is filling up."

But if you ask Michael Bay, there's no need to worry about 2011 competition - Transformers 3 won't be ready by then! Bay has responded to the release date news with the following:

Wait a minute! I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 - they asked me on the phone - I said yes to July 4 - but for 2012 - whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots.

There's something a little bit satisfying about Michael Bay getting somewhat punked by his own studio. But I digress. It's probably best for Transformers 3 to avoid the Summer of 2011, as Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America, and Spider-Man 4 are all scheduled to release then. And for now we still have to get through the second Transformers movie, opening this June 26, which many of you are totally stoked to see.

Paramount Steps Into the Gaming Industry With Popular Chick-Flick Games

Paramount is not only trying to dip into the video-game world, but it's also going after a female audience by introducing three games inspired by girlie movies - Clueless, Mean Girls, and Pretty in Pink. These first few games will be developed in conjunction with Legacy Interactive.

No word on what console the games will be designed for or what the user experience will be like just yet, although BuzzSugar has her predictions!

More games are said to be in the making and even more to come next year!

Did I Call it or What? Cloverfield Sequel Already in the Works

As soon as I saw Cloverfield I knew immediately that there would be sequels. Making one stand-alone video of a Manhattan monster attack means there could be any number of other videos out there with similar footage - from the New York attack, or from other cities the monster demolished. Basically, all they need to come up with are the various reasons for people to be using a handheld camera.

This easy setup for a sequel combined with the fact that Cloverfield cost $25 million to make and raked in $46 million over its opening weekend alone has now motivated Paramount to team up with director Matt Reeves again for a Cloverfield sequel. Variety states today that the Cloverfield sequel might even be Reeves next project.

While I know I totally called this, there's a part of me that already feels a pending weariness toward the Cloverfield movies. Part of the satisfaction with Cloverfield was the intrigue surrounding it - the sequel(s) will have to consistently think of ways to surprise us. Also, they may want to figure out how to avoid that shaky-cam nausea.

How To: Get Your iPad Ready For Resale

If the rumors are true, the iPad 3 should be announced in March. If you're ready to upgrade from your first-gen iPad or iPad 2, now's the time to start thinking about selling. But before you post a listing on Craigslist or eBay, get all your ducks in a row first. Here's a few tips on how to prep your gadget for resale, and get top dollar for your efforts.

Back up your data and do a clean sweep - First thing's first - make sure you connect your iPad to iTunes and back up all of your data. You'll be able to sync it with your new iPad after you bring it home. And just like a computer, before you sell your old tablet, you'll want to wipe it clean of any sensitive information, apps, and contact lists. Erasing all of your content and settings (go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings) is great, but go ahead and perform a full restore in iTunes as well.
Polish the exterior - Cleaning your old iPad is kind of like cleaning your LCD monitor - you don't want to use any harsh chemicals or, even more damaging, water. Using a tried-and-tested cleaner like iKlear ($30) will ensure you won't damage your iPad's sensitive bits. Use the included microfiber cloth (or one of your own) and shine that baby up.

The Super Bowl wouldn't be complete without some blockbuster movie trailers, and this year's big game came complete with a fresh look at The Avengers. This spot is short and sweet, mostly focusing on seeing the team assemble and prepare for epic battling. Though the first Avengers trailer is more satisfying and in-depth, this little teaser is keeping us excited for the film's Summer release. Plus, we get a much better look at The Hulk (who actually looks pretty similar to the big green guy we saw in the Ed Norton movie.)

8 Life Lessons Learned From CES 2012

This year's CES didn't just teach us about gadget trends and the future of the industry - it also taught us a few things that we'll remember in our everyday lives as well. Here, we offer up a few tips to take with you on your next journey to a big tech conference, or to keep in the back of your mind for life. Trust me: our pain is your gain!

Get plenty of sleep. Between long hours on the show floor and various industry parties (and afterparties), there's a good reason we'd love to see siesta lounges at CES. But if you can't nap during the day, be sure to get enough shut eye at night. This is true even for the real world, where you've got emails, shows, and news to catch up on. Put away the laptop at a decent hour and get your beauty rest. You'll wake up refreshed and ready to take on the day's to-do list.
Carry water. Downing coffee, cocktails, and Diet Cokes, coupled with the dry weather in the desert, and filtered air in the hotels and casinos can cause dehydration fast. Keep a bottle of water on you at all times. This not only keeps your skin fresh, lips hydrated, and head clear, but it'll keep you from overheating due to thirst.
Wear good shoes. Did I mention how much we walked at CES? Seriously, the biggest expo I've ever seen, it spans the Las Vegas Convention Center and surrounding hotels. It's not hard to walk six miles in a single day. Multiply that by three or four days, and you've got yourself a good workout. Dress your feet appropriately for CES, and everyday life, since it can save your back later down the road.
Get in the lunch line early. Hungry bloggers line up to get their lunches far before the 11:30 a.m. call time. Although we never saw a shortage of food, who wants to wait in another line when you're tired and hungry? This is another way to say "eat your lunch." Skipping meals can lead to headaches and crankiness, symptoms you don't want to experience when you're in a fast-paced and crowded space or in your office.

Box Office: The Devil Inside Brings Big Scares

January means slim pickings for new movies at the box office, which made it easy for horror flick The Devil Inside to debut at No. 1 with $34.5 million. It came in ahead of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, which took in $20.5 million. Behind it was Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, with $14.1 million, followed by The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo with $11.3 million. Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked rounded out the top five and took in $9.5 million.

Box Office: Tom Cruise Completes His Mission

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol reaped the benefits of wide release, and won the weekend box office with $29.5 million. Behind it was last week's champ, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, which garnered $20.2 million in its second weekend out. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo debuted in third with $12.7 million, closely followed by Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, which took in $12.7 million. Completing the top five was The Adventures of Tintin, which opened to $9.7 million.

Matt Damon's We Bought a Zoo only earned $9.4 million in its first weekend, while War Horse made $7.5 million in its Christmas Day release.
