The Help's Win, Love For 30 Rock and Modern Family, a Scorsese Drinking Game - Highlights From the SAG Awards!

Michelle Williams was the first presenter at this evening's SAG Awards, handing the outstanding supporting actor statue to Christopher Plummer from Beginners. Octavia Spencer took home the corresponding statue for her work in The Help.

On the TV end, Alec Baldwin squealed with delight when he was named best actor in a comedic series, and an especially stunned Betty White, from Hot in Cleveland, dedicated her prize to her leading ladies Wendie Malick, Valerie Bertinelli, and Jane Leeves. The child actors from Modern Family, Ariel Winter, Rico Rodriguez, and Nolan Gould, got a chance to take the podium when their series won outstanding cast in a comedy. Miniseries accolades went to two absent stars, Kate Winslet for Mildred Pierce and Paul Giamatti for Too Big to Fail.

Bridesmaids' Maya Rudolph, Kristin Wiig, and Melissa McCarthy brought some comedic relief when onstage introducing their film as a contender in the best ensemble category. The trio came to the stage armed with vodka, beer, and champagne, and introduced a drinking game based around the word "Scorsese." Jessica Lange then followed up on her Golden Globes win with another victory in the category of best dramatic actress on a TV series for American Horror Story. Steve Buscemi won an Actor for his leading role on HBO's Boardwalk Empire. TV ensemble in a drama honors went to Steve's whole cast, giving him an additional opportunity to invoke his producer Martin Scorsese's name as an excuse for a drink.

There was a slight upset in the best actor in a film category - The Artist's Jean Dujardin beat out Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Demián Bichir, and George Clooney. Viola Davis claimed the best female actor in a motion picture for The Help, and beamed from the stage in her Marchesa gown. Further acclaim went to the cast of Viola's movie, with their Actor statues being handed off by none other than Brad Pitt. The Emmy Awards have wrapped and this year there were a few repeat winners, as well as some surprises. Mad Men took home the Emmy for best drama for the fourth consecutive year, while Modern Family picked up its second win for best comedy series. The ABC comedy dominated a lot of the evening's other categories, with Julie Bowen and Ty Burell taking home taking home matching Emmys for for best supporting actress and actor. Kyle Chandler was a pleasant surprise winner of the evening, himself admitting he did not expect to win during his acceptance speech for best actor in a drama for his role in Friday Night Lights.

Host Jane Lynch opened the show with a funny musical opener, but it was the Lonely Island boys and a slew of comedians that helped provide the funnier moments of the evening with spoofs and performances. The nominees for the best actress also garnered a lot of laughs, taking to the stage as soon as their names were announced and literally crowning winner Melissa McCarthy. Melissa McCarthy just won her first Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for Mike & Molly. She defeated Edie Falco for Nurse Jackie, Laura Linney of The Big C, 30 Rock's Tina Fey, Amy Poehler for Parks and Recreation, and Raising Hope's Martha Plimpton. McCarthy broke out thanks to her role on Bridesmaids, and she's having a banner year for her season's first sitcom too.

At the Emmys, women were nominated for playing a wide-range of characters, from goofy to sultry to serious. Not all of them could win, but a great group did take home trophies. Melissa McCarthy, who plays an overweight teacher who meets her boyfriend in a weight-loss support group on Mike & Molly, won her first Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series. Melissa defeated a tough list of nominees, who joined her on stage during her win, including 30 Rock's Tina Fey and Parks and Recreation's Amy Poehler. Julie Bowen won outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series for playing Claire Dunphy in Modern Family, an overprotective mom who tries to do it all. Julie beat costar Sofia Vergara, Emmy host Jane Lynch for Glee, and all-star funny women Betty White, Kristen Wiig, and Jane Krakowski.

It wasn't all about the comedians tonight, though. Margo Martindale won outstanding supporting actress in a drama series for playing the matriarch of the Bennett crime family in Justified. And Julianna Margulies won big, taking home the prize for outstanding lead actress in a drama series for The Good Wife. Guest actresses also got some love. Gwyneth Paltrow won for playing caliente substitute Spanish teacher Holly Holliday on Glee, while Loretta Devine took home outstanding guest actress in a drama series for Grey's Anatomy. Modern Family, Mad Men, Melissa McCarthy, Kate Winslet, and More Win Big at the Emmys

Jane Lynch kicked off last evening's Emmy Awards with a song and dance routine that included cameos from some of TV's most popular stars. Early supporting honors in a comedy went to small-screen couple Modern Family's Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell, who actually beat out three of his male costars! Ty made a memorable acceptance speech about his late father. Charlie Sheen made a controversial appearance to present outstanding lead actor in a comedy series with some of his old competitors. While some were worried about what he'd say in relation to his departure from Two and a Half Men, Charlie was polite and respectful. He said, "From the bottom of my heart, I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season. We spent eight wonderful years together, and I know you will continue to make great television." Jim Parsons from The Big Bang Theory ended up the winner, while Mike and Molly's Melissa McCarthy won in the corresponding female category. Her rivals like Amy Poehler and Tina Fey all gathered together onstage before the victor was announced, and it was a sweet moment of support among peers.

Further nods went to The Amazing Race as best reality/variety show and The Daily Show for writing on a variety, music, or comedy series. The guys of the Lonely Island teamed up with Michael Bolton, John Stamos, Ed Helms, Maya Rudolph, and Akon for a racy medley of their SNL hits for a hilarious musical interlude. Ashton Kutcher joined his new cast mate Jon Cryer to present supporting actress in a drama to Justified's Margo Martindale, and Peter Dinklage won similarly for Game of Thrones. Martin Scorsese, meanwhile, added to his pile of awards by picking up his first ever Emmy for directing Boardwalk Empire. Julianna Margulies tearfully was crowned best actress in a drama for The Good Wife, and Kyle Chandler was able to accept his best actor in a drama statue from Friday Night Lights costar Minka Kelly, who took the stage with her fellow Charlie's Angel and producer Drew Barrymore. Downton Abbey picked up multiple honors in the miniseries categories, including best miniseries or movie, though Mildred Pierce's Guy Pearce won best actor in a miniseries and Kate Winslet added to her trophy collection with best actress. At the microphone, Kate exclaimed, "Oh look - I really did win it!" Mad Men was named best drama series again, and Gwyneth Paltrow made do without the teleprompter to present best comedy series to Modern Family. Joshua Jackson and Melissa McCarthy rose early this morning to announce the 2011 Emmy nominations! Some perennial favorites made the cut, including Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey with respective nods in the outstanding lead actor and actress in a comedy series, as well as Jon Hamm of Mad Men as lead actor in a drama series and Julianna Margulies in The Good Wife. All in all, it was another great year for Mad Men with props in 19 categories. HBO also got lots of love with attention lavished on Mildred Pierce, including a nom for leading lady Kate Winslet, Boardwalk Empire, and newcomer Game of Thrones. TV stars Joshua Jackson and Melissa McCarthy were up and at 'em this morning to present the nominees for this year's Primetime Emmy Awards - one of which went to McCarthy herself for her work on Mike and Molly. There aren't too many shockers on this year's list; new shows Game of Thrones, The Killing, and Boardwalk Empire all got some love, Modern Family continues to dominate (now with a nomination for Ed O'Neill), and Friday Night Lights finally got that much-deserved nod for outstanding drama series. There are also some big names you may not have expected to see on this list, such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon, and Justin Timberlake all picked up nominations for guest appearances.
