2010: A Year in Glee Guest Stars

We've been taking your opinions on the best of 2010 in the entertainment world as well as counting down the year's biggest headlines, but we found yet another way to measure a year. (No, it's not in love). Glee had so many celebrity cameos in 2010 that you probably can't even recollect everyone. That's why I'm here for a quick retrospective, so take a trip down memory lane with a year in Glee guest stars.

Glee Gives Us an Excuse to "Get Physical"

Last night, Glee (one of my most favorite shows ever, BTW) paid homage to some pretty cheesy musical gems like MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This," Vanilla Ice's "Ice, Ice Baby," and what could be the FitSugar anthem - Olivia Newton John's "Let's Get Physical."

First, the gleeks post an incriminating video on YouTube of Cheerios leader Sue Sylvester dancing by herself to the double entendre '80s hit, causing Sue to go into total revenge mode. In the end, I'd say Sue came out alright though: Miss Let's Get Physical herself, Olivia Newton John, shows up to remake the video and casts Sue as her costar. After watching the Glee remake I couldn't help myself from wanting to relive the glory and the spandex of the original. So bust out your favorite leggings, headbands, and aerobics moves and be inspired to get up and go!

Flashback: Crispin Glover in The Beaver Trilogy

I remember catching this on cable one late night (it's not on DVD) and feeling like I'd fallen into another dimension. Directed by Trent Harris, The Beaver Trilogy is supposed to be a documentary, but let's just say it's loosely a documentary. It's about oddballs Trent met while on his travels, as well as Sean Penn and Crispin Glover acting like those oddballs. It just gives me a headache thinking about it, but this clip of Crispin as an obsessed Olivia Newton-John impersonator (that's right - he's impersonating an impersonator) singing "Please Don't Keep Me Waiting" is like the best of David Lynch. Spooky.

Jennifer Lopez's Pasadena restaurant, Madre's, closed on July 1 until further notice. - TMZ
Olivia Newton-John married John Easterling in a surprise ceremony at her house in Malibu where guests thought they were going to a Fourth of July barbecue. - Daily Telegraph
Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher's wedding has been postponed because Isla has not finalized her conversion to Judaism, and Sacha's mom is upset with her having gone back to work so quickly after the baby. - Daily Mail

Flashback: Xanadu

The early '80s were a magical, innocent time - a time when a movie about Greek muses coming down to earth to help mortals build a roller skating rink was not billed as a comedy. And who doesn't love Olivia Newton-John or Electric Light Orchestra? The costumes (and music) from this film make me want to watch it again.

John Speaks Up About Olivia and Tom

Aussies Kylie Minogue and Olivia Newton-John got to represent their home turf at the GDay USA Australia.com Black Tie Gala in LA this weekend. John Travolta had no problem weighing in on the topic of his fellow Scientologist Tom Cruise and those videos that were leaked last week. He said, "[Tom] has – we all have – the right to practice how we feel. It finally becomes unfair." On a brighter note, John was excited to reunite with his Grease co-star, gushing that she was awesome and even declaring, "Olivia, I love you. I honestly love you." after she performed a few of her songs. Aww, Danny and Sandy forever.

TV with MeeVee has pictures of the fountains being dyed red around the country to promote "Dexter."
The MTV Movies Blog says that Wes Anderson wants to do a stop-motion animation version of The Fantastic Mr. Fox, with George Clooney and Bill Murray lending their voices.
Cinematical writes that Anna Sophia Robb will be playing a lead part in the Escape From Witch Mountain remake, which looks like it will be more like a new movie than a remake.

Every Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar t-shirt!

This summer we have one beloved film-turned-musical-turned-remade-film, Hairspray, and recently heard news about another in the works: Footloose. Following along that theme (and using another of your suggestions), let's just say Grease were being remade and needed present-day actors (and let's face it, it's only a matter of time).

Flashback: Kids Incorporated Singing "Physical"

Who thought it was a good idea to have the words of a sleazy woman come out of the mouth of a leering pre-pubescent with a bad perm and purple clothes? Why, the producers of Kids, Incorporated. In this clip, we see children dancing to a song by Olivia Newton-John about some woman who takes her date out to dinner and a movie and then proceeds to tell him what she really wants: "There's nothing left to talk about/Unless it's horizontally." At least they had the common sense to leave that line out...

TV Preview: "Grease: You're the One That I Want"

NBC has been running near-constant promos for "Grease: You're the One That I Want," the reality show where America votes on who will play Sandy and Danny in an upcoming Broadway production of "Grease." The first episode, a special 90-minute version, airs tonight (Sunday) at 8 p.m., with Olivia Newton-John as a guest star.

I still can't decide whether it's going to be so bad it's good - or just bad. It could be all kinds of campy fun, or it could be just another ripoff of "American Idol." Check out the trailer and tell me what you think. Will you watch "Grease"?
