SAG Award Nominees Announced!

The Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations were announced today, and as always, I loved seeing more leading indicators for the Oscars and the fun "best performance by a cast" nominees. I'm glad to see Abigail Breslin and Alan Arkin up for "Little Miss Sunshine," but can we please stop nominating Megan Mullally for "Will & Grace" now?

The 13th Annual awards will air live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, January 28. Until then, here's a list of who is up for what.

Golden Globe Nominations Breakdown: TV

Sure, everyone talks about the Golden Globe nominations as Oscar predictors, but they're also a great barometer for the fall TV season, giving us an early look at which shows critics think deserve recognition - and which are tanking. This year, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association gave props to a few new shows and a few old favorites but skipped over a few that I thought were sure bets. Here is BuzzSugar's breakdown of the Golden Globe nominations for TV. (To see my movie breakdown, click here.)

AMERICA, THE BEAUTIFUL
I'm loving the nomination of America Ferrera from "Ugly Betty". She's been charming so far as the aggressively unstylish magazine assistant, and she might actually have a chance of winning here, if Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman split the "Desperate Housewives" ballots and voters don't want to let Mary-Louise Parker repeat for "Weeds."

OH, SANDRA
A year after taking home the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress on TV, Sandra Oh got snubbed. Maybe there was only room for one "Grey's Anatomy" lady, and Katherine Heigl does deserve some recognition for her work as line-crossing, Denny Duquette-loving Izzie. But if the Globes could reward two "Housewives" in the Best Actress category, why not two for "Grey's"?

EX-"FRIEND" ALERT
So Matthew Perry didn't get nominated for "Studio 60," but he's still a contender at the Globes for "The Ron Clark Story," a TNT original picture that I ... have never heard of.

read more THE USUAL SUSPECTS Kiefer Sutherland got his zillionth (OK, his fifth) best actor nomination for "24," and perennial comedy favorite Tony Shalhoub from "Monk" is back for a fourth time after being passed over last year. Neither has won for several years, though. SEEING DOUBLE, AGAIN Everyone's talking about Leo vs. Leo and Clint vs. Clint, but what about Helen vs. Helen? In addition to her film nomination for "The Queen," British dame Helen Mirren also got two nods in the Best Actress, Miniseries, or Movie category: One for the HBO miniseries "Elizabeth I," which garnered her an Emmy earlier this year, and one for the final installment of the PBS miniseries "Prime Suspect." That means Mirren herself nabbed more nominations than the casts of most entire TV shows, which is pretty darn impressive. But I'm most excited because now we have triple the chance of seeing her give yet another charming and weirdly controversial acceptance speech. THE FRESHMEN The Globes tend to reward new shows, so it's no surprise to see a few newbies snag high-profile mentions. First-season standouts "Heroes" and "Big Love" could be surprise winners in the Best Drama Series category, and "Ugly Betty" could pull an upset in the comedy competition. But a Golden Globe isn't always the good-luck charm a first-year series needs: "Commander in Chief" tanked and was ultimately canceled despite its nomination and star Geena Davis's win last year. UPSET WATCH Michael C. Hall missed out on most of the big awards when he was on "Six Feet Under," but his starring role as a vigilante serial killer on "Dexter" could snag him a win this time. Just looking at Alec Baldwin makes me laugh, so I wouldn't be surprised if the "30 Rock" star upset Tony Shalhoub and Steve Carrell in the Best Actor, Musical or Comedy category.

Jessica Biel, Rosario Dawson, and Matthew Perry showed up bright and early to announce the 2006 Golden Globe nominations, and the list is definitely a mix of huge surprises, obvious names, and puzzling choices. George Clooney and Stacy Keibler Fit in a Date Night

George Clooney broke from his press tour last night to take his girlfriend Stacy Keibler out on the town. The couple grabbed dinner at Dan Tana in LA, and George gentlemanly held the door for Stacy as they headed out to their car afterward. George had a rare night off from talking up his Oscar-nominated movie The Descendants. He recently joined director Alexander Payne for a New York Times "TimesTalks," and also did a fun spot for CBS. George helped bring back CBS News's "Person to Person" segment, a spot created by the subject of George's film Good Night and Good Luck, Edward R. Murrow. George showed off his LA home and revealed he's doing a post-New Year's cleanse.

Rachel McAdams stepped out solo yesterday to pick up groceries at Whole Foods in Santa Monica. She's had a busy month and it all culminates tomorrow with the release of The Vow. Rachel wore a strapless Vivienne Westwood dress to Monday night's LA premiere, where she met up with her onscreen leading man Channing Tatum. Rachel's real-life love Michael Sheen skipped the event, though he recently shared a romantic lunch date with Rachel. Michael and Rachel have been going strong since first striking up a connection while filming Midnight in Paris. The Woody Allen-directed film is nominated for best picture at the Oscars, and we'd love to see Michael and Rachel together at the Feb. 26 ceremony.

Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter Cozy Up For a Sweet Sunset Beach Trip

Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter grabbed a seat to watch the sunset on the beach in Venice, CA yesterday. The duo looked cozy despite their divorce being finalized in December. This isn't the first time Michael and Jennifer have been spotted together following their separation since they were seen on a coffee date last month. They also sat together at the SAG Awards, where their TV show, Dexter, was up for best drama and Michael was nominated for best actor. Neither Michael nor the Showtime series went home with any statues, but it looked like the couple had a fun night. Both Jennifer and Michael will be back on the small screen soon now that Dexter has been renewed for a seventh and eighth season.

George Clooney Gets Comfortable to Talk Descendants With The NYT

George Clooney and his The Descendants director Alexander Payne sat down for a "TimesTalks" interview with New York Times journalist David Carr in LA yesterday. It was George's latest press stop as he makes the rounds to discuss his, and the movie's, many Oscar nominations. George is up for a best actor statue at the Academy Awards, which will take place later this month on Feb. 26. The Descendants is also in the running for best picture, best director, best adapted screenplay, and best achievement in film editing. It's likely to be a good night for Alexander and the gang if they win in any category. The ceremony will offer George another chance to hang out with his buddy, and fellow nominee, Brad Pitt, as well as hit the red carpet with girlfriend Stacy Keibler.
