One of my favorite Sunday rituals is settling down with a big mug of coffee or tea, pulling out the Style section of the Sunday New York Times, and flipping directly to the Modern Love feature. The column features one essay per week on some aspect of love (romantic, friendly, sisterly), and they're almost always quirky and engaging.
Well, now there's news that a production company has bought the TV rights to Modern Love and is talking about what kind of TV series could be built around the column's content.

Back in June the New York Times published a touching article about a high school in Brooklyn for kids who have newly immigrated to the United States. The article chronicles students in their senior year who have come from countries all over the world including Senegal, Haiti, and Poland as they make their way through that time-honored American right of passage: The prom. Now Miramax Films has optioned the rights to the article, which is titled "This Strange Thing Called Prom," and will turn the concept into a movie.

I knew it was going to be hard to top the koi pond incident (and those Halloween costumes), but I was glad to see this week's The Office return to the storyline with new paramours Michael and Helene. This time, Pam is actually coming around to the idea of her mother dating her boss, but per his usual protocol, Michael is ready with a few blunders to messy things up. We also had a friendly competition between Andy and Dwight and — naked photos?

This week's ousted dancers from So You Think You Can Dance were the first to go since the top 20 were selected. Brandon Dumlao and Ariana Dubose got on the phone with a few reporters this morning, including me, to chat about how they feel after last night's elimination.

When you have a parenting movie set in New York, you should know better than to expect a warm-'n'-fuzzy story about the joys of having kids. In fact, Motherhood is out to prove that mothers have it rough.
The film follows Eliza Welsh (Uma Thurman), a Manhattan writer dealing with a cramped apartment, busy husband, and side-street parking while raising her two kids.

As a city with so much personality and penchant for possibility, it's no surprise that the follow-up to Paris, Je t'aime heads to New York. New York, I Love You is a tale of the connections and personal missteps that occur every single day in the city that never sleeps. It plays out like a movie version of a song mash-up: some story lines are linear and independent of the rest while other characters wander in and out of each other's lives.

Whenever a reality show like Project Runway or Top Chef comes to an end, there are always a few standout contestants I know I'm going to miss seeing every week. Luckily, Bravo is giving three breakout reality stars more air time with their very own series on the network.
Project Runway's Christian Siriano will star in his own show about marketing his clothing line, while Top Chef favorite Fabio Viviani will give us a closer look at his life in the restaurant biz.

In case you missed this post from Friday.... Earlier this week we saw Debra Messing looking stunning at the screening of her new miniseries, The Starter Wife. The series, based on Gigi Levangie Grazer's New York Times bestseller, looks to be as fun to watch, as it is to read.
