The Secret Life of the American Teenager has a clunky title and a premise disconcertingly close to that of
Juno. But it also has Molly Ringwald, and for that alone, I want to check the show out when it premieres July 1.
The show is, at face value, the story of Amy (Shailene Woodley, aka the first Kaitlin Cooper of The OC), a band geek who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant.

I agree with you Buzz, it does look pretty cheesy but I might check it out anyway. Maybe just to see Molly Ringwald...

3This show's been marked on my calendar since the premier date was announced. I'm very curious to see how Brenda will deal with teen pregnancy with the main character.
4she only played Kaitlin in the first few episodes before the show recast her (Willa Holland) and started making her a regular character
5I saw this REALLY lame moving on tv that i assume was straight to video with Molly Ringwald and thats why i watched it for 20 mins.... i will never make THAT mistake again, it was terrible!

I'm with you kaykayelle! I've been waiting for this to premiere. Yes, I like the corny shows. I'm curious to see how this plays out though as it looks as if she's a 'band-geek-good-girl' who had sex once and didn't even enjoy it.

8aaaagh. I know I'll be watching this. Probably for the same reason I have seen almost every 7th heaven episode... I'm just curious to see how bad it can get.
9Eek this looks terrible. I was looking forward to abc family's summer programming but needless to say I'm underwhelmed.
10It looks kind of cute. I think I'll check it out - sometimes one needs some "lightweight" stuff.

12I actually think this is a great addition to the ABC Family lineup! It sounds like it's going to be a pretty realistic look at high school and the issues kids are facing, and I give the show enormous props for daring to confront those issues (especially the topic of teen pregnancy and when to have sex.)
Plus, I also love Molly Ringwald and seeing her is going to be a serious time warp for me. I might even watch in my leg warmers just to relive my youth.

14I've seen the commercial for it a lot. So I might check out the premiere and then see what happens, lol.
15I'm with HipMom. I need something light and cute once in awhile; I can't watch SVU EVERY NIGHT.
16Maybe I'm the only one who liked 7th Heaven but oh well. Sure it was wholesome and preachy at times but it was about a minister and his kids. I don't know about htis new show but I'd be willing to give it a try.

this show seems like it would suck, but it's actually tolerable.

21I love this show. I especially like the younger sister. I can't remember her name at the moment, I think it is Ashley.

23The script on this crap is horrible. It seems like there reading out of a book.
