The American Music Awards promised us big-name musical acts, and it delivered. I was there for every moment from the red carpet to the press room to the closing performance (a very jaw-dropping routine by Adam Lambert). Taylor Swift dominated the honors, and I've already shared the full list of winners; now, I'm here to bring you all of the other highlights from the evening - including the stuff you didn't see. TV Tonight: The American Music Awards

This has been a huge year for music so far: Taylor Swift has won every trophy imaginable, Whitney Houston is staging her comeback, and Michael Jackson is still topping the charts, even after his death. Perhaps that's why tonight's American Music Awards sounds even better than in the past - and I'll be at the show to bring you all of the exciting moments!

Let's go over what to expect from the evening. First off, the performances. There are so many big-name acts I honestly can't choose which is my favorite. Janet Jackson is opening the first eight minutes, but The Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Clarkson, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, Rihanna, and Carrie Underwood are taking the stage, too, among others. (I cannot wait to see what over-the-top spectacle Gaga has up her bedazzled sleeve!) As for the awards, everyone will be watching to see if Michael Jackson earns a posthumous statue; he's up for five categories, bested only by Taylor Swift who is in the running for six.

Michael Jackson's This Is It Is Already Breaking the Box Office

This Is It, aka the Michael Jackson movie, doesn't open in theaters until Oct. 28, but the late music icon's loyal fans are already securing their seats. The film is breaking records for advance ticket sales, with hundreds of shows selling out in North America and all over the world since Sunday.

LA, San Francisco, Houston, and New York mark strong showings in the States, while Japan, Holland, Sweden, Belgium, and New Zealand represent impressive sales overseas. Many of you said you were planning on seeing the movie, but did you already buy your tickets?

Movie Preview: Michael Jackson's This Is It

Last night's VMAs were a tribute to Michael Jackson as much as they were a celebration of the winners. The show kicked off with an amazing dance medley, including a special performance by Janet Jackson. Later on in the night we got our first taste of Michael Jackson: This is It, the movie that pulls together all of the unseen footage of the iconic pop star as he prepared for a tour that never came.

It still feels just a bit too soon, but the footage is refreshing to see in the midst of all the controversy surrounding his death - MJ still had those impeccable dance moves and voice to showcase his hits. Many of you said you were planning on heading to the theater for the film, so check out the video after the jump and tell me what you think.

Will You See the Michael Jackson Movie in Theaters?

A film built around rehearsal footage from just before Michael Jackson's death will be released in theaters for two weeks starting Oct. 28. Tickets for the movie, titled Michael Jackson: This Is It and directed by Kenny Ortega, will go on sale Sept. 27. About the film, Ortega says:

This film is Michael's gift to his fans. It's a very private, exclusive look into a creative genius's world. For the first time ever, fans will see Michael as they have never seen him before - this great artist at work. It is raw, emotional, moving, and powerful footage that captures his interactions with the This Is It collaborators that he had personally assembled for this once-in-a-lifetime project.
