Mew's 2006 album And the Glass-Handed Kites was notable for the supreme ugliness of its cover art. But the Danish band's 2003 release, Frengers, is probably the superior album, and last week — at long last — it was released stateside.
I really love this track "156," which starts out sounding like bizarre, synthesized fantasy then morphs into a catchy pop number you might hear on "Laguna Beach."

Though I'm planning to bring you BuzzSugar's best albums of 2006, here's one list I don't have covered: the 25 worst album covers of 2006, brought to you by Pitchfork. Perhaps iTunes is to blame, but this year ushered in some truly dreadful album art, which is a shame for those of us who still buy actual CDs or like to download the cover art to our iPods. For instance, I almost didn't buy this Mew album, even though it came highly recommended by a friend, because the artwork was so disturbing.
