Here Come the Men in Black . . . in 3D?

That's right, those rumors of a third Men in Black movie are still floating around, but this time they're intensifying. Though at one point it was suspected that Josh Brolin may step in for Tommy Lee Jones, the last rumblings are that both Jones and Will Smith are on board to complete the trifecta - and, naturally, the movie will be in 3D.

Most of you weren't jazzed about a third movie when we first heard about it back in October, but would you be more interested if the original team comes back? It's been a full 13 years since the original, and it's hard to believe the MIBs won't have a few up-and-coming agents to keep up with. On the other hand, a lot of advances have been made in the wide world of technology, so maybe Jay and Kay can have a few Nav'i-like creatures to take on this time. Everything's better with CGI, right?

Seems that whenever Hollywood has a crime to solve, it calls on a pair of mismatched officers for its hijinks. Take for instance Lethal Weapon, Starsky and Hutch, Rush Hour - and joining their ranks this Friday, director Kevin Smith's Cop Out, which features Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan as partners. It's an unlikely pairing, but they're obviously not the first to try this formula. Can they stack up against their predecessors? Check out my list of favorites!

Josh Brolin - Love Him or Leave Him?

Awhile back the majority of you voted to kill off the Men in Black franchise, but perhaps you'll have a change of heart after today's news. Josh Brolin is reportedly in talks to join Men in Black 3 as a potential stand-in for Tommy Lee Jones's Agent K. The details haven't been finalized, but word is he could play a young Agent K or possibly an entirely new partner to Agent J (Will Smith).

There's no doubt that Brolin will help freshen the series that has been sitting stagnant; yet, I'm not sure his involvement is going to make me rush to theaters. Brolin's a great actor, and he's starred in some of my favorite films in recent years (e.g., Milk and No Country for Old Men) - but as far as leading men go, he doesn't have the same box office draw for me as some of the other guys in Hollywood.

Continue or Kill: Men in Black

Today's sequel news sort of makes my eyes roll: Men in Black 3 is coming, and Sony is bringing fresh blood to the franchise. The studio has roped in Etan Cohen of Tropic Thunder to write the script - even though neither Will Smith nor Tommy Lee Jones have signed on yet to star.

Not to be cruel, but the second MIB came out seven years ago - isn't Agent K getting kind of old to chase aliens? I liked the first MIB OK (loved that theme song!), but the second didn't grab my excitement, so I'm surprised they've decided to revisit it again. All I've got to say is they better get Smith and Jones to agree stat, because I can't imagine an MIB with all new characters - or even worse, younger actors taking over the roles they originated.

What's your take? Are you happy to see Hollywood move forward with the Men in Black series, or would you rather see it offed already?

How to Throw a The Artist-Themed Oscar Viewing Party

The Oscars air on Sunday, Feb 26, and any movie lover already has the date penciled in. In case your plans are even grander than simply watching the show and you want to throw a viewing party for friends, then why not pick a theme based around one of the best picture nominees? I'm suggesting The Artist as inspiration, the delightful silent film that's been creating a deafening award season buzz. Here's how to pull it off.

How to decorate: All your decorations should be black and white, with art deco accents. Play The Artist movie soundtrack or big band music while guests are arriving. And if you know anyone who owns a Jack Russell Terrier, borrow him and pretend he's Uggie.
How to dress: In glam 1920s Old Hollywood garb. Think tuxes for men, and flapper dresses or diaphanous gowns and long pearls for women.
What to serve: Lots of champagne, of course, along with Manhattans and Sidecars, cocktails popular in the '20s.
How to act: Ask everyone to be as silent as possible, but expressive with their face and hands. It sounds crazy, but at least you won't have to shush anyone when the show starts.

Reese Witherspoon Brings a Chic Look Out in London

Reese Witherspoon covered up in a black coat as she left Claridge's hotel in London yesterday. She traveled to the UK to premiere This Means War with her costars Tom Hardy and Chris Pine ahead of the movie's Valentine's Day release in that country and the US. Reese wore a sparkly green Louis Vuitton dress for the event and posed for the cameras next to her leading men. She's had girls time during her overseas stay, too, since she popped up in Paris last week with friends. Reese and her pals went shopping and were spotted jogging around the city before Reese made the trip to England.

The film is engaging, impossibly stylish, and boasts a killer soundtrack, as well as top-notch performances from Gosling and Albert Brooks. DVD extras include featurettes.

In Time

This futuristic flick takes us to a world where time is currency, and once you hit 25, you need your minutes to stay alive. Unfortunately, the rich keep getting richer and the poor, like Will Salas (Justin Timberlake), are fighting for survival. Will becomes a target when he's gifted an eyebrow-raising number of minutes, and sets out on a moral crusade against the elite to help himself and others who are in his situation. Though the idea of the film is promising, the dialogue and convoluted plot don't live up to expectations. DVD extras include deleted scenes and extended scenes.

Jay-Z Pays Will Smith a Visit on the Set of Men in Black III

Jay-Z shared a few laughs with Will Smith during his Father's Day visit to the set of Men in Black III yesterday in NYC. The duo did a little joking around between takes, and Will even appeared to show off his sparring skills. The actor has been shooting the third installment of the sci-fi franchise in the Big Apple for the past several months, though the Smiths were able to get together in LA earlier this month to celebrate son Trey's high-school graduation. Jay was solo when he dropped by to say hello, but he's also been close by wife Beyoncé Knowles's side lately as she gears up for the release of her next album, 4. He joined her on a recent trip to Paris, where she posed for a photo shoot, and was also in the audience to cheer her on at the Billboard Music Awards in May.
