Upfronts Update: The CW Renews Life Unexpected and More!

Huzzah! Upfronts news continues to roll in, and The CW has mostly good news: Life Unexpected has been renewed (thanks for listening, CW!), along with veteran series One Tree Hill.

It also picked up two new ones: Hellcats and Nikita (stay tuned for in-depth descriptions of those shows). Alas, not every show was so lucky - Melrose Place has officially been canceled.

Cory Monteith and Katie Cassidy Make Big-Screen Moves

Cory Monteith and Katie Cassidy are kind of on opposite sides of the TV success spectrum right now - Monteith has the super-anticipated Spring premiere of Glee coming up next week, while Cassidy's Melrose Place is teetering on the brink of cancellation. But the movie world is another story: both actors are set to star alongside Selena Gomez and Leighton Meester in the upcoming film Monte Carlo.

The movie centers on Gomez as she flies to Monte Carlo for a charity auction after being mistaken for a socialite and gets into a pickle when a million-dollar necklace is stolen. Cassidy plays her friend, and Monteith plays Cassidy's boyfriend. The film doesn't exactly sound like a future Oscar winner, but I'm still happy to see both actors - whom I love in their respective shows - picking up new parts. Here's hoping they won't be totally typecast.

The shows return on March 9 (just two weeks away!), and it looks like The CW will be wasting no time sucking us right back into the guilty pleasures. Will you be tuning in?

Do You Still Watch Shows in Danger of Being Canceled?

The CW recently announced that they're giving new season orders to several series on their lineup, but there's still no sign of Melrose Place. This only further supports the rumblings that the show might get canceled, which makes me wonder - should I tune back in when the apartment neighbors return on March 9?

Chuck was in a similar situation last year as rumors spread of it being on the chopping block, but it toughed it out, and I'm glad I did, too (even if its ratings haven't seen the pay off). Problem is, I'm just not sure if it's worth investing my evenings into shows that are sinking; yet if I do stop watching - along with everyone else - then they definitely won't stand a chance with viewership numbers. So should you stay loyal, or move on?

Sneak Peeks at New Episodes of 90210 and Melrose Place

Just when you were starting forget about some of your favorite guilty pleasures over on The CW, the network has unleashed some new footage promising that the shows will be back - with juicy drama in spades. Yesterday we saw some steamy new scenes from Gossip Girl, and now I've got some fresh stuff to show you from our regular Tuesday night doubleheader.

Over on 90210, we can look forward to a catfight between Naomi and Ivy, while Silver locks lips with Teddy and Dixon. There's also a peek at that girl-on-girl romance we've heard so much about, and pretty much no Annie in sight. (Thankfully, no Jasper either).

Elsewhere in LA, we see a typical day in the life of the residents of Melrose Place. Jonah seems mixed up, Riley scores a new job, and Lauren gets a sexy new fellow doctor at the hospital. Many of you said you won't be sad if the show gets canceled, but maybe you'll change your mind after you see the clip.

Would You Be Sad If Melrose Place Got Canceled?

Hey, remember Melrose Place? It feels like forever since we've experienced a Tuesday night packed with sex, scandal, and Ashlee Simpson's lack of acting skills, and word on the street is that the days of the reboot may be numbered.

We won't know for sure until CW makes its official renewal announcement at the end of the year, but the show is definitely on the chopping block unless it sees a boost in ratings. I followed the show all through the first half of the season, but I have to admit that I'm not exactly counting the days until its return. What about you - would you be sad if Melrose Place got the boot?
