The Critics' Choice Awards took place in LA tonight and recognized actors, actresses, and films released over the past 12 months. George Clooney took home the top honor of best actor, beating out friends Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling. He was joined at the event by his girlfriend Stacy Keibler and thanked his fellow The Descendants castmates during his heartfelt acceptance speech. The Help was recognized for outstanding ensemble cast with Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer each going home with an individual nod for best actress and best supporting actress respectively.

Leonardo DiCaprio took the stage to honor his mentor and film director Martin Scorsese with the Music + Film award and Bob Dylan also paid tribute to Scorsese with a song. Leo brought along his dad George to the dinner, while the actor's girlfriend Erin Heatherton is currently shooting the upcoming Victoria's Secret Summer catalog. The Artist was the biggest winner of the evening with four awards. Ryan Gosling missed out on the celebratory event, however, his suspenseful flick Drive was crowned best action movie while Bridesmaids won best comedy and Rango earned the title of best animated film - check out the entire list of Critics' Choice Awards winners! Friends With Kids Trailer: Jon Hamm, Maya Rudolph, and More Take Friends With Benefits to New Heights

If you loved seeing Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig as friends with benefits in Bridesmaids, then you'll definitely want to see them together again as newlyweds in the trailer for Friends With Kids. They're not the titular parents though; that would be Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt (who also wrote and directed the film), as a pair of platonic friends who decide to have a baby together without being in a relationship (a "50 percent commitment," if you will.) Naturally, their circle of friends (which also includes Maya Rudolph and fellow Bridesmaids star Chris O'Dowd) don't exactly understand their progressive situation.

The preview didn't have me laughing out loud, but you'll never hear me complaining about seeing Adam Scott in a leading role, or revisiting so many of the amazing cast members from Bridesmaids. The People's Choice Awards took over the Nokia Theatre in LA tonight with major stars from Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, and Hunger Games in attendance. TV stars Lea Michele, Nina Dobrev, and Neil Patrick Harris were just some of the lucky winners who took home beautiful Waterford crystal statues. Maroon 5, Chloe Moretz, and Adam Sandler nabbed further honors.

Robert Pattinson debuted a new hairstyle and accepted a trophy for best dramatic film on behalf of his Water For Elephants cast. He was presented the award by friend and Twilight costar Ashley Greene as well as Chuck's Zachary Levi. Big-screen comedy Bridesmaids got bragging rights for best comedy, though Kristen Wiig missed out on the fun in order to rehearse for this week's SNL. We were there on the red carpet and behind the scenes during the telecast to chat with attendees and winners. The Lovely Ladies of NBC Gather For a Very Blond TCA Bash

NBC kicked off the Winter television critics press tour yesterday in Pasadena, CA, showing off their slate of new shows and bringing together their stars for an evening party. Jessica Simpson showed off her baby bump in sequins as she made a brief cameo at the event before heading home to give her feet a rest after a long day of promoting Fashion Star. Her fellow judge on that show, Nicole Richie, and their host, Elle Macpherson, both hit the red carpet as well. Christina Applegate and her onscreen Up All Night husband Will Arnett stayed close at the packed soiree. Chelsea Handler talked up Are You There Chelsea?, which premieres soon and has Laura Prepon playing the title role.

Amy Poehler's Funny Friends Toast Her at Variety's Power of Comedy Event

Amy Poehler was the honored guest at Saturday night's Variety Power of Comedy event, and many of her friends, family, and past and present costars turned up to toast - and sometimes roast - the Parks and Recreation star. Will Ferrell, Maya Rudolph, Whitney Cummings, and of course, Will Arnett, were among the celebs who attended or took the stage during the soiree.

We caught up with Will and Amy before the show kicked off, and the pair told us that despite their comedic talents, their two sons get the most laughs at home. Will and Amy made a date night of the annual event, which is held as a benefit for women's cancers. Last year, Russell Brand was awarded for his comedic chops, and he shared a video message with Amy, as did her former "Weekend Update" cohort Tina Fey. Will Ferrell jokingly went in for a kiss as he presented Amy with her award at the close of the show, and during the evening, both Maya and Ken Jeong performed silly songs in her honor. We spoke with Ken on the red carpet, who told us the evening had special meaning for him not only as an admirer of Amy's, but because his wife is a breast-cancer survivor herself.

In the grand tradition of How I Met Your Mother's Robin Sparkles, NBC's new comedy Up All Night has its own character with a pop star past. Maya Rudolph's Ava is now a successful talk show host, but back in the day (the mid-'90s, that is), she starred in an R&B slow jam video with her old boyfriend, "B-Ro." The ex is someone you'll recognize if you're a Saturday Night Live fan: it's The Lonely Island's Jorma Tacconne, and their song "Basically" could totally be an SNL digital short. Pilot Scoop: Up All Night

Tonight is the debut of Up All Night, NBC's new comedy starring Christina Applegate and Will Arnett as a couple adjusting to their life as parents. If you're on the fence about tuning in this evening, check out my pilot scoop on the first episode to see whether it sounds like something you'd enjoy.

What it's about: Applegate and Arnett play married couple Reagan and Chris, who have just become first-time parents. The show follows the pair as they try to get used to their new roles and routine: Chris has become a stay-at-home dad so that Reagan can go back to work full time. Maya Rudolph has a supporting part as Reagan's demanding but well-meaning boss Ava.

Where it works: I love Arnett as Chris, because it's one of the rare times we see the actor toning himself down to play an all-around nice guy. Not that I don't love his usual shtick, but it's great to see him expanding his range. Also, he, Applegate, and Rudolph are a killer comedy team in a pilot that has tons of laugh-out-loud moments and great writing.

Where it doesn't: If you're dealing with the similar work/life stress that Reagan and Chris are, this show might not be the escapist fare you're looking for.

You might like this show if: You like the fun, irreverent humor of Cougar Town and Happy Endings.

When is it on: Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
