And then there were three. Back in May I asked you all who you would choose to play Frank Sinatra in the upcoming biopic, and Martin Scorsese reportedly has narrowed it down to Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, and George Clooney. Apparently Scorsese's first choice is his muse DiCaprio, while Universal Pictures would like to see Depp in the role.

Within about 20 seconds of watching this trailer for Shutter Island, I had chills. By the time it was drawing to a scary, climactic close (and this is just the trailer, mind you) I was fully spooked. More than most frightening things, the idea of being trapped in an asylum (or a prison) as a presumably sane (or innocent) person disturbs me right to the bone.

Who better to direct a biopic about the famous blue-eyed Italian-American entertainer Frank Sinatra than Martin Scorsese? This is the kind of movie news that's so "just right" it makes me wonder why it hasn't happened before. Here's more on the project, titled simply, Sinatra:
The deal comes after years of negotiations with Frank Sinatra Enterprises, a joint venture of the crooner's estate and Warner Music Group.

The 2006 CIA historical thriller The Good Shepherd didn't totally wow the critics and I've heard many viewers complain that the movie is too long and not all that interesting. Even so, the Robert DeNiro-directed project did earn an Oscar nod and it boasts a stellar cast.
Now DeNiro is talking sequels — yes, plural.

When I realized that Martin Scorsese's new rock doc Shine a Light chronicles two Stones concerts from 2006, I was slightly disappointed. Don't get me wrong: I devour rock documentaries (Scorsese's The Last Waltz is one of my faves), and I love me some Rolling Stones. But I've never had much interest in seeing the band live in its modern incarnation (or in paying the high-ticket price for a stadium show).
