TV Tonight: Mad Men Season Three Premiere!

At long last, fellow Mad Men fanatics, the third season is about to begin. I'm so excited for tonight I practically have butterflies.

So much happened last season - and especially in the final episode (babies! confessions! merger!) - I feel like I need to take deep breath and steady myself before diving into another one. This is not exactly light television, which is why Mad Men is one example of TV becoming more and more like film in quality and depth. While I love that about the show (it's a huge reason why I tune in, though Jon Hamm's handsome face is also a reason), I also know that watching this show regularly is an emotional and mental investment (at least for me).

But I've missed Don, Betty, Peggy, Pete and the rest of the swanky folks at Sterling Cooper, so it'll be great to see them onscreen again, in all their dapper finery. What are you most looking forward to seeing in tonight's premiere? What do you hope to learn or see? And what did you score on my Mad Men quiz?

What Do You Want From a Third Season of Mad Men?

Mad Men will be getting a third season on AMC - though creator Matthew Weiner is still in negotiations to determine whether he'll return - and that means we'll be watching another year in the life of Sterling Cooper. Back at the TCA press tour, Weiner suggested he has a five-year plan for the series that would end in 1968, so presumably a third season could mean another time jump (though even at the time Weiner said nothing was set in stone).

This season of Mad Men has focused more on the characters' home lives than on the office. I think it would make sense for a third season to shift the entire dynamic back to the workplace and focus in on office politics. Duck is in position to shake things up and I'd really like to see Peggy move far enough up the ladder to a point where she's landing business. There's also plenty to resolve from this season that may not be wrapped up by the Oct. 26 finale, including the fate of Betty and Don's marriage.

I'm wondering: What would you want to see in a third season of the show?

Sarah Jessica Parker Wraps Up Lovelace and Returns to Her Kids - but Not the Super Bowl

Sarah Jessica Parker left her NYC home Friday with two of her three children. Her 10-year-old son James Wilkie Broderick led the way to their car, while SJP followed carrying Loretta, one of her twin girls. It seems baby Tabitha didn't go along for the outing, but she's often seen exploring the Big Apple with mom SJP and Loretta.

Yesterday was a special occasion for the family, as Matthew Broderick's Ferris Bueller Super Bowl ad aired. However, SJP doesn't care for the Super Bowl too much. The actress, who's fresh from filming a small part in Lovelace, said recently, "I can tell you honesty, I will not be watching the football game. I have absolutely no interest. . . How long does [the game] last? Up to four hours? Really? If I had four hours of leisure time, I would watch the first episode of Luck and start the first season of Mad Men or Downton Abbey. You get my point."

Modern Family, Mad Men, Melissa McCarthy, Kate Winslet, and More Win Big at the Emmys

Jane Lynch kicked off last evening's Emmy Awards with a song and dance routine that included cameos from some of TV's most popular stars. Early supporting honors in a comedy went to small-screen couple Modern Family's Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell, who actually beat out three of his male costars! Ty made a memorable acceptance speech about his late father. Charlie Sheen made a controversial appearance to present outstanding lead actor in a comedy series with some of his old competitors. While some were worried about what he'd say in relation to his departure from Two and a Half Men, Charlie was polite and respectful. He said, "From the bottom of my heart, I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season. We spent eight wonderful years together, and I know you will continue to make great television." Jim Parsons from The Big Bang Theory ended up the winner, while Mike and Molly's Melissa McCarthy won in the corresponding female category. Her rivals like Amy Poehler and Tina Fey all gathered together onstage before the victor was announced, and it was a sweet moment of support among peers.

Further nods went to The Amazing Race as best reality/variety show and The Daily Show for writing on a variety, music, or comedy series. The guys of the Lonely Island teamed up with Michael Bolton, John Stamos, Ed Helms, Maya Rudolph, and Akon for a racy medley of their SNL hits for a hilarious musical interlude. Ashton Kutcher joined his new cast mate Jon Cryer to present supporting actress in a drama to Justified's Margo Martindale, and Peter Dinklage won similarly for Game of Thrones. Martin Scorsese, meanwhile, added to his pile of awards by picking up his first ever Emmy for directing Boardwalk Empire. Julianna Margulies tearfully was crowned best actress in a drama for The Good Wife, and Kyle Chandler was able to accept his best actor in a drama statue from Friday Night Lights costar Minka Kelly, who took the stage with her fellow Charlie's Angel and producer Drew Barrymore. Downton Abbey picked up multiple honors in the miniseries categories, including best miniseries or movie, though Mildred Pierce's Guy Pearce won best actor in a miniseries and Kate Winslet added to her trophy collection with best actress. At the microphone, Kate exclaimed, "Oh look - I really did win it!" Mad Men was named best drama series again, and Gwyneth Paltrow made do without the teleprompter to present best comedy series to Modern Family. Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss, and Young Costar Kiernan Shipka Take the Stage For Mad Men

Jon Hamm joined his Mad Men costars Kiernan Shipka and Elisabeth Moss for a TV academy screening hosted by AMC in LA last night. John Slattery was on hand along with the show's creator, Matthew Weiner, who revealed that he already has an idea of how Mad Men will ultimately end despite their having a contract for three more seasons. Absent from the event were leading ladies Christina Hendricks and Allure cover girl and X-Men: First Class star January Jones. Jon made it to the stage following a trip to Cannes, where he partied with longtime girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt at the Paradis charity bash during the city's film festival. Jon also has been celebrating the success of his comedy Bridesmaids, which landed in second place at the box office on its opening weekend.

Mad Men Will End After Three More Seasons

After months of drama, production delays, and negotiations, AMC and creator Matthew Weiner have finally reached a decision regarding the fate of Mad Men. Weiner has signed a three-year deal with the network that will keep Mad Men on the air through season seven. As for the rumors that two cast members will be cut, Weiner has stated that under the new deal, he'll have creative freedom about what to do with his characters (read: nobody's forcibly getting the axe). Though it's still undecided when the series will return, Weiner has made one thing clear: the show will end for good after season seven.
