TV Tonight: Mad Men's Season Two Finale

Sigh - it's here. The end of Mad Men (for this season, anyway - it's coming back). I can't believe it! Sundays will feel a little different heading into the Winter without the drama of the gang at Sterling Cooper.

The final episode is titled "Meditations in an Emergency," and the only small hint AMC is giving us is: "Sterling Cooper is in play and the office scrambles without Don. Betty learns some disconcerting news." So that tells me that things are really going to get nuts in the office as this merger goes through, and apparently Don won't be back (right away? at all?) to save the day. I'm starting to wonder how legit this whole thing is given that Don wasn't able to place an official vote at the partner meeting last week.

Also! What about Don and Betty? I feel like we need one more mega-confrontation between the two before we break. And is Joan going to marry this guy? Dump him? I wonder why they would make her hit bottom last week if they weren't setting us up for something in the finale. And finally, Peggy's going to learn something, but who knows what it will be. Maybe Don's true identity? Maybe something about her baby? Perhaps Father Gill admits a crush (that's my secret Thornbirds-esque hope)?

Regardless of how it all turns out, 'tis a bittersweet combo of excitement and sadness that it's over for now. To check out a scene from tonight's episode, in which the gang speculates about Don's whereabouts all this time,

Alison Brie on Wedding Movies and the Possible End of Community

Jon Hamm and His Onscreen Love Get Heated on Set

Jon Hamm and his small screen love interest Jessica Paré filmed a dramatic scene for Mad Men in LA yesterday. The couple seems to be fighting, despite becoming engaged in the final episode of season four last year. We'll have to wait until season five airs in 2012 to find out the real status of their relationship. Production on the Emmy-winning drama started this Summer and, in addition to Jon and Jessica, John Slattery and January Jones have also been spotted on set. January returned to work earlier this week for the first time since giving birth to Xander and she brought the little guy along to meet her cast mates. We got a glimpse of Xander's sweet face during another outing with January, though she left her son behind to run errands yesterday.

Kyle Chandler Wins the Emmy For Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Friday Night Light fans are finally getting their due: Kyle Chandler is taking home his very first Emmy, for outstanding lead actor in a drama series. He beat out Mad Men's Jon Hamm, Timothy Olyphant of Justified, Steve Buscemi for Boardwalk Empire, Dexter's Michael C. Hall, and Hugh Laurie for House. It's a bittersweet victory, as FNL just saw its final seasons, but the Panthers definitely have much to celebrate tonight.

Which Series Should Win the Emmy For Best Drama?

I've been asking you guys about your Emmy opinions this year, and who you think are most deserving of awards. Thus far you've talked about the actors who you hope win Emmys, but now we're turning our attention to the series that are nominated. Today, let's look at the contenders in the best drama category.

Reigning champ Mad Men is the one to beat; the show is up for the fourth time, and has won every year it's been nominated. It's going up against Dexter, which has been up four times as well. Also taking a swing at the Emmy are HBO's promising newcomers, Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire, both nominated for their respective first seasons. Finally, two network dramas round out the category: The Good Wife, here for the second time, and Friday Night Lights, which is in the category for the first time ever, but will have its only shot at the title this year since it recently ended. So, weigh in now - which show should win the Emmy for best drama?

Mad Men Will End After Three More Seasons

After months of drama, production delays, and negotiations, AMC and creator Matthew Weiner have finally reached a decision regarding the fate of Mad Men. Weiner has signed a three-year deal with the network that will keep Mad Men on the air through season seven. As for the rumors that two cast members will be cut, Weiner has stated that under the new deal, he'll have creative freedom about what to do with his characters (read: nobody's forcibly getting the axe). Though it's still undecided when the series will return, Weiner has made one thing clear: the show will end for good after season seven.
