Oh, MTV Movie Awards. Not the most prestigious awards of the season but one could argue they're the most fun. Where else can someone take home an award for "peeing in the sink?" Where else will you see the cast of Twilight sweep many of the categories? Where else can you witness Sacha Baron Cohen place his bare bottom on Eminem's face?

What Was Truly the Best Movie Kiss of the Year?

This Sunday June 1, the MTV Movie Awards will strike again and while they aren't the most prestigious awards around, they at least get creative with their nomination categories. My favorite: Best Kiss.

Here are the nominees:

Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey, Enchanted
Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman, Step Up 2 the Streets
Shia LaBeouf and Sarah Roemer, Disturbia
Ellen Page and Michael Cera, Juno
Daniel Radcliffe and Katie Leung, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

I would love it if Ellen Page and Michael Cera won and then reenacted their kiss during the acceptance speech. But I have a feeling The LaBeouf will take that win.

Anyway, is it just me or were there some way better kisses this year than these nominees? There's a great scene in Waitress where Kerri Russell's character imagines a gorgeous kiss with her doctor friend (Nathan Fillion, anyone?) for example. Or hello? The library kisses between Keira Knightley and James McAvoy in Atonement!

Do you agree with this list or are there others you would add? What were some of the great on-screen kisses of the year (and by "this year" I guess we're talking all or most of 2007 since Disturbia came out in April of that year)?

Superbad, Transformers Lead the 2008 MTV Movie Award Nominations

This year's MTV Movie Awards, airing live June 1, will mark the second time hosting for Mike Myers who said in a statement, "Hosting the MTV Movie Awards is like a party, but without having to do beer runs in your mom's minivan." He then added, "We do beer runs in Will Smith's four-story motor home."

Today we have a full list of the nominated movies vying for the Golden Popcorn statues at this year's "party." Awesomely, Michael Cera is all over this list, for both Superbad and Juno. Shia LaBeouf is also well-represented, as is Amy Adams. Superbad leads several nominations, with a bunch of Juno, Enchanted and Transformers rounding out the rest.

I was slightly surprised to see some titles included in the list, like No Country for Old Men, American Gangster and Sex and the City: The Movie. Maybe I'm not too clear on who the audience is for MTV. . .Can they even get into these movies?

Sarah Silverman Will Host the 2007 MTV Movie Awards

Ellen DeGeneres ruled the Oscars this year, and another funny lady just got the emcee gig at MTV. The channel announced today that comedian Sarah Silverman will host this year's MTV Movie Awards. The show, which will be broadcast live for the first time ever, will be held on Sunday, June 3, in Universal City and produced by "Survivor" superstar Mark Burnett.

I've been hot and cold on Silverman over the years, but lately, I've definitely been warming up to her more. Her Comedy Central show, "The Sarah Silverman Program," is innovative and always delivers a few good laughs, and her scene in The Aristocrats had me cracking up. Sure, Silverman sometimes tries a little bit too hard with her gross-out humor, but then, she'll whip out some deliciously sarcastic remark, like this quote from the MTV News article: "I'm really excited about 'Wild Hogs!' It's so well-crafted!"

MTV is probably asking for it by hiring the notoriously filthy Silverman for its first live-broadcast Movie Awards, but at least it will be fun to watch what happens.

For us West Coasters, the MTV Movie Awards fun doesn't start until 7:30 our time, but the pink carpet is already teeming with celebs down in LA.
