Buzz In: Who Should Get Their Own Behind the Music?

There once was a time, long before Real Housewives reruns on Bravo, where you could count on VH1's Behind the Music series to be on the air at just the moment you're too lazy to do laundry or pay bills. Those were the good old days (between 1997 and 2006, to be specific) when you could learn all kinds of things about people like Leif Garrett, Billy Idol, and Red Hot Chili Peppers from the cable channel's rock documentary series.

Well now, the network is bringing the series back, and its first subject will be - yes! - Lil Wayne. Great first pick. This revamp is apparently going to "focus more on contemporary artists than the veteran talent of previous incarnations." Which brings me to my question: Who do you want to see get their very own Behind the Music? I think a Jonas Brothers one would be kind of hilarious (I just imagine the little one saying something like, "I struggled my whole life until I found the music!") and I think Kings of Leon would make a good subject as well.

Lil Wayne, Coldplay Top Grammy Nominations

Lil Wayne took top honors Wednesday night when the Grammy nominations were announced in primetime, followed closely by Coldplay, Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, and Kanye West. Lil Wayne nabbed eight nominations, while Coldplay had seven and Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, and Kanye each had six.

Lil Wayne's most prestigious nomination came in the Album of the Year category, where he'll face off against Coldplay, Ne-Yo, Radiohead, and Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. (Both Radiohead and the Plant/Krauss duo nabbed five nominations overall.)

Among the nominations that made me smile: MIA's "Paper Planes" for Record of the Year, Kylie Minogue's X for Best Electronic/Dance Album, and the Flight of the Conchords album for Best Comedy Album. Song of the Day: "Let It Rock" by Kevin Rudolf and Lil Wayne

I try to keep an eye on the iTunes store top songs list and I've noticed that a duet by Kevin Rudolf and Lil Wayne called "Let it Rock" has been hovering around the top 12. For those of you who aren't familiar, Rudolf is a producer/guitar player-turned-singer (for this single) who's credited on an array of pop songs, like Nelly Furtado's "Say It Right."

"Let It Rock" is super catchy and (almost) makes me feel like I should go for a run. It's exactly the kind of song that could have been the "can't get it out of my head" song of Summer 2008. I can also totally envision a Gossip Girl episode ending to this tune, with Blair leaving a club in slow-motion to the lyrics "Well, you'll get what's yours/ I got mine."

Variety has the news that Paulo Coelho (author of The Alchemist) is asking for video submissions - via MySpace - of readers' interpretations of his novel The Witch of Portobello. Coelho then plans to "weave submissions into a 52-minute TV movie."
Bravo has chefs on the brain: It's spinning off a series called Top Chef Juniors about teens in the kitchen and will also develop a show about the "world's sexiest chef," TV Week reports.
Earlier this week, a stuntman filming John Woo's new movie was killed in what's being called "a bizarre fire," writes Reuters.
Disturbed topped this week's music charts, but Lil' Wayne is already on pace to be next week's No. 1 with what could be the year's biggest album, Billboard reports.
