The Fall of 2007 came in with great fanfare in the TV world, only to be squashed just weeks later by the writers' strike. For this Fall, some networks focused on "relaunching" those shows cut short because of the strike: Chuck and Life on NBC, and Pushing Daisies, Private Practice, and Dirty Sexy Money on ABC. (Though it's now in its third season, Heroes probably falls into this category, too.)
The good news: Many of those shows might not have gotten renewed without the writers' strike.

The networks have announced their fall schedules, but which of the series will actually be worth watching? Throughout the summer, as I watch the pilots, I'll be posting my first impressions. A lot can change before a show makes it to air, so these aren't comprehensive reviews, just quick thoughts on how the shows look now.

- A former "Friday Night Lights" guest star is headed to NBC's "Life." Brooke Langton, a "Melrose Place" alum who briefly played Tim Riggins' love interest on "FNL," will play a defense attorney who helped free the main character, a cop wrongfully convicted of murder.
- Speaking of "Friday Night Lights," remember those new recurring characters that the cast and producers told me about last week? Actors have been found for two of them.

We might have to wait till fall to see the full versions of NBC's new shows, but the network is giving you a preview now. Clips of four of the shows, including "Chuck" (photo above), have made their way to YouTube, and NBC has a bunch of goodies on its fall preview site. I also have a ton of photos for the new shows, and I can't wait to hear what you think.

I have a love/hate relationship with Ben Stiller movies. Over the years, I've grown tired of seeing him in the same everyman role again and again (with a few exceptions, like There's Something About Mary), but every now and then he throws a curve ball that pulls me back in. Greenberg already looks like one of the latter films.
