TV Tonight: "Anchorwoman"

If you've been watching any Fox programming these days, you've almost certainly seen promos for "Anchorwoman," a fish-out-of-water story about a bikini model who gets recruited to be a news anchor in a Texas town. The show premieres with a special one-hour episode tonight at 8 p.m. (regular half-hour episodes start next week), and the jury's still out on whether it will be appealingly trashy or just too stupid to watch.

Here's the premise: KYTX, a CBS affiliate (so why is the show on Fox?) in Tyler, Texas, is so low-rated that its news director will do anything to boost the station's profile, including having Stormy the Weather Dog show up in every forecast. So it wasn't such a leap for him to hire Lauren Jones, a former Barker's Beauty and WWE Diva, to read the news. Exactly how much of this "comedy/reality hybrid" is scripted isn't clear, though I can't imagine that things like Jones showing up to work in a plunging leopard-print top happened completely by chance.

One thing's for sure: the journalism community in Tyler isn't too thrilled about having their profession so openly mocked. But can Jones actually do the anchor's job? I guess we're supposed to watch and find out. To see a clip,

Emma, Keira, and Michael Step Out For a Star-Studded National Board of Review Gala

George Clooney attended the National Board of Review Awards gala with girlfriend Stacy Keibler last night at NYC's Cipriani 42nd Street. Many other stars went out for the Big Apple event as well, include a Nina Ricci-wearing Keira Knightley and Emma Stone in J. Mendel.

George was on hand to pick up a best actor statue for The Descendants, and his leading lady, a L'Wren Scott-clad Shailene Woodley took home best supporting actress. We Need to Talk About Kevin's Tilda Swinton wore Haider Ackermann to accept best actress, and Emma Stone joined costars Octavia Spencer, Jessica Chastain, and Viola Davis onstage to collect their best ensemble film statue for The Help. Hugo, meanwhile, was crowned best movie. Michael Fassbender, who looked great in his suit, won a special spotlight award for the many films he starred in last year.

In the 1990s, it was all about the "big six" models, an aesthetically-blessed group that consisted of top earners such as Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, and Cindy Crawford.

While a debate exists over who coined the term supermodel, Swedish model Lisa Fonssagrives, who was at the height of her career from the '30s through the '50s, is often credited as the world's first. Buzz In: Do You Agree With American Idol's Top 13?

Introducing your American Idol top 10! Or should I say, 13? The show made cuts left and right tonight, whittling down the final 24 to only 10 at first.

But then - there's a wild card! Pulling from the remaining 14, the judges chose three girls (Ashthon Jones, Kendra Chantelle, Naima Adedapo) and three guys (Stefano Langone, Jovany Barreto, Robbie Rosen) to give it one last shot. Ashthon chose the appropriate "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," Robbie performed "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" again, and all six really put their hearts out on the stage. In the end the judges saved three: Ashthon, Stefano, and Naima.

As Randy Jackson himself said, it really was the hardest night ever. I was surprised to see a few contestants left out (poor Robbie!), but I do like the variety of the remaining group. There are a ton of different musical styles and personalities in the mix, which should make the competition interesting to watch. Were you surprised by the final group? Whether creator Ryan Murphy is willing to admit it or not, this week's Glee may as well have been called "The Justin Bieber Episode." There are only a couple of Bieber songs, but the fever is alive and well throughout the glee club this week, from the side-swept bangs to the ever-present American Apparel hoodies.

Sam's new coif isn't the only focus though; Mr. Schuester spends his time trying to get Sue out of a deep depression, Lauren finds her voice (sort of), and Santana strikes again. Let's break it all down after the jump.
