David Milch Brings Cop Show to HBO

David Milch and HBO, together again.
Milch, the creator of the beloved Deadwood and the reviled John from Cincinnati, is taking his third shot at an HBO series with a new cop drama.

What's the story?
Milch is going back to his Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue roots with this one, called Last of the Ninth. The show is set in the New York Police Department in 1972, and Milch said the story revolves around "an older detective's mentoring of a young detective returned from Vietnam in a department fiscally crippled, under attack by revolutionaries, and which has been brought by allegations of systemic corruption into public disrepute." Sounds intense.

Maybe this could be the next great cop show.
With HBO's The Wire and FX's The Shield both ending after this season, it seems like a good time for a new, dark, gritty police drama. What do you think?

With over 10 million page fans, Dirty Dancing is the ninth ranked movie on Facebook, a fact that the game designers hope will drive fans to play as part of Baby and Johnny's world. Taking a cue from Farmville, players in the Dirty Dancing game act as managers and caretakers at the Kellerman's Resort, the film's Summer vacation setting. Build the resort into a bustling, romantic destination and offer guests the same activities as in the film. The major events for players to host and up their overall score is, you guessed it, a dance show. Sound like something you're into, Facebook gamers?

It's President Barack Obama's 50th birthday today and although it's a milestone birthday, the head of the state is holding private, low-key celebrations today in order to observe the bleak economic environment.

We've seen a promising community leader edge his way up the political ladder in the last few years, finally reaching the top to become the nation's first black president. That is an achievement in itself because as Michelle Obama told Oprah, one of the "beautiful things [the country] will get from this presidency" is that children of every color can dream bigger. Heidi Klum lounged on the deck of a yacht off the coast of Ibiza, Spain with her family yesterday. Heidi and Seal stole a few kisses in the sun, and she was also on the receiving end of a very public and romantic kiss from him during his performance in the city on Friday. Seal planted one on Heidi in the middle of his show, which was also attended by celebrity friend and fan Ryan Seacrest. Seal entertained the intimate crowd and Ryan evidently had a good time too, tweeting that the happy couple are "way too much fun!" After spending the start of the Summer in NYC, Heidi and their kids escaped the scorching temperatures on the East Coast and jetted to Europe to join Seal on tour. The overseas trip is also a relaxing family vacation and Heidi's supermodel figure is ready for a beachy trip since she's been keeping fit with regular jogs over the Brooklyn Bridge as part of her Summer of Run series. Heidi's been joined by exercise enthusiasts Miranda Kerr and Kim Kardashian and both of her friends also happen to have a connection to Project Runway. Kim dropped in as a guest judge for the ninth season and Miranda's reportedly in talks to appear on Project Runway All-Stars. Heidi has a new success to celebrate as the getaway continued through the weekend - season nine of Project Runway kicked off last week to even higher ratings than last year's premiere.

Leni, Lou, Johan, and Henry Samuel were close by mom and grandma's side as they took in the sights in NYC. Heidi took advantage of some time off from her busy schedule on Project Runway to head outside and enjoy Summer in the city. Heidi and her fellow judges started taping episodes for the show's upcoming ninth season in Battery Park late last month. This year will feature Kim Kardashian as a guest judge, and Zoe Saldana and Christina Ricci are among the other famous faces also rumored to be making appearances. Project Runway debuts on July 28, and Heidi has been stripping down to promote the new episodes, posing sans her shirt in the latest ads for the show. Heidi is topless on the current cover of Glamour, as well, and once again proves she's not shy about much in the accompanying interview, opening up about her sex life with Seal.

A Reader's Fitness Must Haves For 2011

FitSugar reader mandaleebee shared her fitness must haves for the ninth challenge of our Get Fit For 2011 giveaway, and you should, too!

I am a sucker for buying new fitness and beauty products on a whim. One of my impulse buys last year were my Vibram FiveFingers Sprints; I love them. I can't wait for it to get just a tad warmer so I can start running in them again with my pup! I also would like a good fitness watch so I can push myself during my runs (running has never really been my thing, but I am determined to get into it).

My new 2011 fitness obsession is boxing and kickboxing at LABoxing (and I do mean obsession), so I am all about new boxing and kickboxing fitness gear! Because of all of the cardio circuits and ab workouts during the kickboxing and boxing circuits, shorts are out (I don't want to flash the person at the bag across from me, now do I?) and yoga pants are in. I try to kickbox a minimum of three times a week, so I am in dire need of more capri workout pants. These Lucy Perfect Core Knee Pants would be perfect! They hug your core, reminding you to keep it engaged. The Lucy Propel Knee Pant would also be great, providing breathability during the hard workouts and would also be good for nighttime running because of its reflective piping. Also from Lucy, these Run Power Headbands were a great investment to keep my bangs and sweat out of my face during workouts. I'm also sort of obsessed with collecting different hand wraps - I currently have pink and black, so now I need yellow, red, blue, orange, camo and more!

Box Office: Gnomeo & Juliet Surpasses Hall Pass

Looks like audiences decided to pass on the Farrelly Brothers' Hall Pass at the box office. The film only took in $13.4 million this weekend, making way for Gnomeo & Juliet to steal the No. 1 spot. The animated family film has been in theaters for three weeks, but it brought in $14.2 million for first place; Hall Pass followed behind in second.

Last week's champ Unknown slipped to third with $12.4 million, while Just Go With It trailed behind with $11.1. That was just enough to squeak by I Am Number Four, which rounded out the top five with $11 million. The weekend's other newcomer, Drive Angry 3D, made a measly $5.1 million for the ninth spot. Perhaps audiences just aren't into Nicolas Cage.
