The Cast of Seinfeld Puts Their Reunion on the Cover of EW

We've known about the Seinfeld reunion on the upcoming season of Curb Your Enthusiasm for a while now, but there's something about seeing the foursome all together again in Entertainment Weekly that's making me feel extra nostalgic. (It's almost enough to make me forget about that whole Michael Richards incident from a few years back - almost). In the article, the cast dishes about what we can expect from their stint on Curb (including a revisit to Jerry's apartment and Monk's diner!) and how it feels to have the gang back together. Here are a few of my favorite quotes:

Julia Louis-Dreyfus on being back together: "It’s the anti-reunion reunion, and I’d like to copyright that."
Jason Alexander on playing George again: "Just before we shot that scene, I said to Jerry and Julia, ‘I don’t know if I can be George. I haven’t tried him on in a while,' and it was freaky how it just came right back out."
Michael Richards on seeing his former costars again: "I did feel like I was in the company of good friends. It's like, Larry and Jerry are in the front seat, Julia and Jason are in the backseat, and I'm back there in the corner and I'm like a big dog. The window's open, and my head's hanging out the window and I'm feeling all that good air on my face. And I'm just so happy that we're all together, going someplace."

I've drifted in and out of watching Curb for the last few seasons, but, like many of you, I can't wait to see the Seinfeld crew again. Jerry and Larry David also make it clear that there won't be another reunion, so this should be one for the books. Giddyup.

Movie Preview: Woody Allen's Whatever Works

In the trailer for Woody Allen's next movie, Whatever Works, Larry David's character Boris insists that "this is not the feel-good movie of the year." While that may be true, I feel pretty good after watching it! I don't know if it's the great cast (which includes Patricia Clarkson, Evan Rachel Wood, and Ed Begley Jr., among others), Allen's writing and direction, or just Larry David's delivery, but I found myself laughing quite a lot at the preview for this bizarre-looking film.

According to a press notice I received about the movie, Boris is "an eccentric New Yorker" who "abandons his upper-class life to lead a more bohemian existence. He meets a young girl from the South [Evan Rachel Wood] and her family and no two people seem to get along in the entanglements that follow." Whatever Works opens in limited release June 19. Martin Scorsese will focus on Bob Marley for his next music documentary, writes Variety.
Yael Naim - the singer from the MacBook Air commercials - will have her album released in the U.S. in March, Billboard reports.
ComingSoon has the news that Uma Thurman will play Nanny in the feature film version of Eloise in Paris.
SalesGenie will be dropping the Chinese panda ad after viewers who saw it during the Super Bowl complained it was offensive, The New York Times reports.
Woody Allen will cast Larry David and Evan Rachel Wood in his next project, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Not surprisingly, Zap2it reports that kids these days are into Shrek and Miley Cyrus, at least according to the Kids Choice Awards nominations.
Val Kilmer will replace Will Arnett as the voice of KITT in Knight Rider, Variety reports.
Dominic Monaghan has been cast in a psychological thriller titled Pet, writes ComingSoon.
Disney World is getting an American Idol-themed attraction, writes Hollywood Reporter.

TCA News Roundup: HBO, "Nip/Tuck" and More

The TCA Press Tour - where I'll be heading on Monday, so don't forget to tell me your questions for NBC - is already underway in Los Angeles, with the cable networks peddling their wares to critics. Here's a sampling of the news so far:

"Nip/Tuck" (panel discussion pictured above) is going all meta on us, introducing a satirical show-within-a-show that will hire the good doctors as consultants.
Everyone wants to know if the stars of HBO's new drama "Tell Me You Love Me," which starts Sept. 9, are actually having sex on-screen. To the point that one reporter asked "Did anybody actually, uh, do it?"
Larry David seemed to be having fun with reporters during the "Curb Your Enthusiasm" session.
The two TV movies HBO promised "Deadwood" fans are only at 50-50 odds to actually happen now, but the one-hour "Extras" special is a go.
Shoop! Salt-n-Pepa showed up at a VH1 panel to talk about their breakup and makeup, which will be chronicled in a new reality series.
PBS is getting buzz for the new Ken Burns documentary The War - but the public TV folks also handed out Jane Austen action figures, just in case.

What's Your Favorite Show to Watch in Reruns?

Curb Your Enthusiasm is coming to cable: The TV Guide channel and TV Land have both just acquired the show in a joint effort to run old episodes. Larry David and the gang will first appear on TV Guide starting in February, and TV Land will pick up the show from them starting in 2013. Now, I can feed my rerun addiction and catch up on those seasons of Curb that I missed when I didn't have HBO! Not that I need yet another program to watch in syndication.

I don't know how it happens, but I always get sucked into back-to-back Scrubs marathons. I've seen most of the storylines at least twice - Sex and the City episodes at least three times - but I still watch them again and again.

I know I'm not alone here, so tell me: What's your favorite show to watch in reruns? Seinfeld? Everybody Loves Raymond? The Office?

What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday

It's Tuesday, which means new DVDs hit shelves to fatten up your entertainment library! Trying to decide which to add to your Netflix queue? Check out these three releases.

Orphan

All right, so it's not the best horror film ever - for that, take a peek at my scary movie bracket - but who doesn't love a good spook just in time for Halloween? In Orphan, Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard star as parents who adopt a destructive little girl with a huge secret. The movie borders on ridiculous, but if you like to laugh during your fright flicks, it's got a bit of dark humor and over-the-top slasher scenes. Bonus features include deleted scenes and an alternate ending - which should be good for keeping things fresh, seeing as how the big twist has already been spoiled by pretty much anyone who's seen it.

Nothing Like the Holidays

If you're feeling anti-Orphan, then perhaps a Christmas-themed ensemble film is more your speed. Nothing Like the Holidays follows a large, boisterous Puerto Rican-American family as they gather at their parents' home, and the obligatory love-hate relationships ensue. The storyline is a little stale, so I wasn't a fan when the movie first came out - but it may be a solid rental to get into the pre-holiday spirit and for the actors. (Alfred Molina and Freddy Rodriguez are particularly good as father and son.) There's also a bonus blooper real.

Whatever Works

Curb Your Enthusiasm's Larry David stars in Woody Allen's story of a crabby New Yorker who takes in a young Southern runaway named Melodie (Evan Rachel Wood). Putting aside the somewhat unsettling older man and much younger woman relationship, the real joy to be had is from the bit character parts. Patricia Clarkson and Ed Begley Jr. turn in hilarious performances as Melodie's parents, and dreamy Henry Cavill of The Tudors plays a love interest. If you can get beyond David doing his tiring, whiny Allen schtick, they make the film worth checking out.
