Last year, we talked about the possibility of the bowl cut making a return, and guess what? Lots of celebrities have been sporting their own version of the old-school style over the past few months. Warm-weathered times equal music festivals galore: Pitchfork, Lollapalooza, Warped Tour, and the like. Throughout the past few months, there have been plenty of fresh eye makeup styles and high-to-the-sky hairstyles to go along with these free-spirited occasions. Whether they're sparkly or require 10 different styling products to be achieved, these looks demand to be seen. Since Labor Day, the unofficial change of the season has come and gone, so let's take a trip down memory lane to recap some beauty highlights from the past several months.

Karen O Tells Us "All Is Love" in Where the Wild Things Are

Unsurprisingly, the first song off the soundtrack to Where the Wild Things Are, which already looks adorable and cool, is totally cute. Featuring the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' frontwoman Karen O and a collection of adults and children simply called "the Kids," the track is sweet and whimsical, with all the Kids' voices combining with Os high-pitched chirruping. In "All Is Love," the whole group repeats those three words over and over until you can't really do anything but smile and start to believe it.

The single will be available to download tomorrow, and for now you can hear it on the MySpace page for Where the Wild Things Are. Take a listen, and tell me what you think.

When my sisters have approved a dope music video, I must deliver my take. Mimic cutie Karen O's makeup and learn via Buzz. Stay here for the fashion perspective on the Yeah Yeah Yeah's new video. The SF love continues . . . it's so cool to see Karen O - in her super studded "KO" bedazzled leather jacket and badass spiked leather gloves - trample my city. Dude, she even sings, "Get your leather, leather, leather on." And it's not all typical sunshine and fog, it's rain-drenched streets and confetti! Karen O seems to have matured a bit in both her style and her music, and I'm liking what I see and hear. Her moody style and the band's new wave sound remind me of Siouxsie & the Banshees. I'm a firm believer in the evolution of style, and I think we're witnessing a metamorphosis.

Get the Look: Karen O in "Zero"

A lot of us at Sugar HQ are stoked by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' video for "Zero" because it's set in San Francisco. Plus, hello, it's a fun song and Karen O is such a cool lady. Her style is a litle bit Siouxsie, a little bit Deborah Harry, yet she makes it uniquely hers. But is it easy to borrow this look? Yeah.

Red lipstick with blue undertones is the focus of this look, but it gets that rocker-girl vibe when paired with smoky eyeliner. Try tracing a liquid liner along the upper and lower lash line, then use a makeup brush to dust a dusky teal shadow over it. (Silvery shadow on the eyelid would look cool, too.) Black hair is optional, but a lightweight styling creme will tame flyaways. To fully get the K.O. treatment, check out the matte pink polish brand that she models for; if you look closely in the video, there's a bottle on her dressing table.

Music Video: Yeah Yeah Yeahs Hit San Francisco For "Zero"

Color me totally biased: I like this video of Karen O dancing around the downtown streets of my home base, San Francisco. The video for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Zero" starts out at a music venue I know well called the Warfield, heads into the dressing room where the singer touches up her makeup and tosses on a pretty spectacular sparkly, studded leather jacket, and then breaks out of the venue as she boogies her way down sidewalks and atop cars.

Some reviewers have mixed feelings about the laid-back nature of Yeah Yeah Yeahs' new album (which is on sale digitally now) but I'm digging it so far. "Zero" is catchy and sort of a celebration about not being No. 1, which seems like a fun and low-pressure attitude. To check it out for yourself,

Do You Want to See a Live-Action Where the Wild Things Are?

Details about the live-action adaptation of beloved kids' book Where the Wild Things Are have been trickling in over the past few months, from this NY Magazine piece talking about the quality of Dave Eggers' script, to the news that Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be doing some music for the film (which is directed by her ex Spike Jonze). So far, I'm liking what I'm seeing about this project, though messing around with favorite childhood books always sends up some warning flags.

How do you feel about a Where the Wild Things Are movie? Could it be great, or is it just totally unnecessary?

Music Video: Yeah Yeahs Yeahs, "Down Boy" Live

Remember how, after one EP, everyone thought Karen O and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs would singlehandedly save rock and roll? No band can live up to that kind of hype, but after two albums and countless live shows, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have proven they're more than just a passing phase. I got all excited about them again after seeing this new video for "Down Boy," off the new EP coming out July 24 called Is Is.

Filmed at a live performance, the footage captures all of the legendary weirdness of the YYYs in creepy night-vision colors. Clad in a space-age Bowie-esque unitard, Karen O is her usually sassy and slightly disturbing self (be sure to watch until the end), and the song is great too, blending the band's harder punk styles with the brooding impact of "Maps."
