HBO rolled out the red carpet in New York Wednesday night for the premiere of its new comedy Girls. The show follows the lives of four women living in the Big Apple, so we asked the stars about how it stacks up to Sex and the City. Hear what they had to say in today's PopSugar Rush.

HBO's Girls Premieres With Creator Lena Dunham, Producer Judd Apatow, and Famous Fans

HBO's new series Girls premiered at the School of Visual Arts Theater in NYC. The series is the brainchild of Lena Dunham, whose first big movie Tiny Furniture debuted in 2010. The film caught the eye of Judd Apatow, who reached out to Lena to see if she needed help with any projects. Their friendship helped bring Girls to TV, and Judd worked closely with Lena on the 10 episodes of the first season. The program centers around the friendships of four ladies living in NYC, and the plot has raised some inevitable comparisons to HBO's other landmark series about Big Apple women - Sex and the City. Girls, though, is a grittier look at the lives of 20-somethings and the mistakes they make, both personally and professionally.

Lena also stars in the show, along with Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet, and Jemima Kirke. Plenty of famous friends came out to support the cast, including a Preen-clad Claire Danes, Kyra Sedgwick, and Kevin Bacon. Allison, whose father is NBC's Brian Williams, wore a gorgeous white Donna Karan dress and Kwiat jewels. Zosia also has a well-known dad, writer David Mamet, and Jemima's father was in the band Bad Company! Brian and his wife Jane swung by the afterparty at the Standard Hotel.

Lena spoke to us last night about when Judd first reached out to her. She said, "I thought that it was a prank when Judd first got in touch with me. I thought my friend Isabel was emailing me using this weird technology that lets you pretend your email address is someone else's email address!" The affection is certainly mutual between Lena and Judd. He raved of Lena, "She's so funny, and she has a unique vision." Check out our full red-carpet report later today on PopSugar Rush.

Jennifer and Justin Keep a Professional Distance at Wanderlust's Premiere

Jennifer Aniston wore Tom Ford to last night's big LA premiere of Wanderlust. She shared hugs on the red carpet with costars Paul Rudd and Malin Akerman, as well as producer Judd Apatow and his wife Leslie Mann. However, Jennifer seemed to keep her distance from boyfriend Justin Theroux. Jen and Justin weren't photographed together at all throughout the evening, but both were still wearing their personalized "Jennifer" and "Justin" name rings. They even managed to stay a few feet apart during the afterparty at Napa Valley Grille. Justin caught up with Paul and his wife Missy Yager at the bash, while Jennifer hung out with Universal Pictures president Ron Meyer. We were on the scene last night at Hollywood's Mann Village Theatre, so stayed tuned later for our report from the screening.

Ryan Celebrates The Change-Up With Costars Jason, Leslie, Olivia, and Special Guest Sandra

The stars of The Change-Up like Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman, and Leslie Mann gathered in LA last night for the West Coast premiere. Olivia Wilde rounded out the cast of actors who hit the red carpet outside the Regency Village Theatre. There was a special surprise in store - Sandra Bullock, in Lanvin, made a rare appearance to support her good buddy Ryan! Jason, meanwhile, had his wife Amanda Anka on hand for the premiere and afterparty at the Hammer Museum, and Leslie was next to her husband Judd Apatow. Leslie wore Marchesa for the first part of the evening then changed into Monique Lhuillier for the bash. Olivia picked a red Antonio Berardi before putting on a star-embellished frock for the end of the night. We managed to snag a few minutes with the bold-faced names before they headed into the screening. Olivia spoke about how funny the guys were on set, while Jason and Ryan revealed that they've been friends for 15 years and have been waiting to do a project together. Ryan Reynolds kept the good times rolling last night with a bash at LA's Dominick's restaurant to celebrate his July 2011 issue of Details. It was the actor's second evening out on the town in a row after attending the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday with his Green Lantern leading lady Blake Lively, but she wasn't on hand for yesterday's party. Instead, Ryan cozied up to his costars in The Change-Up, Leslie Mann and Olivia Wilde. Jason Bateman, another lead in the upcoming comedy about two friends who find themselves in each other's bodies, also let loose with Leslie's director husband Judd Apatow. Olivia made the rounds without her rumored love interest Bradley Cooper, who will actually play opposite her in the upcoming movie The Words. The Summer is shaping up to be a busy season for Ryan, since his film with Blake hits theaters on June 17. He, Olivia, Jason, and Leslie won't debut their final product until Aug. 5, but Ryan will be busy in the interim with interviews and prepping to start work on projects like Deadpool and R.I.P.D.

James Franco Gets Oscar Hosting Advice From Judd Apatow - Smart Start or Already Falling Flat?

Brand new Twitter user James Franco teamed up with his Freaks and Geeks buddy Judd Apatow to create a new video for Funny or Die. It's James's latest clip for the site, after his silly Christmas creation with his grandmother. James requested the help of Judd, who presided over the Producers Guild of America Awards, in prepping to host the Oscars ceremony on Feb. 27. Judd suggested a variety of ways to get the crowd laughing, and James, thinking like a student, seemed eager for the pointers. James will of course have his cohost Anne Hathaway on hand for the actual ceremony, but tell us what you think of his early efforts - is James off to a smart start or is he already falling flat?

Amy, Mark, Justin, and Armie Have a Night With the Producers

Stars of The Social Network and The Fighter dressed up in LA on Saturday night to attend the annual Producers Guild of America Awards at the Beverly Hilton. Amy Adams wore a daring low-cut dress on the red carpet to pose with Mark Wahlberg, while Justin Timberlake broke from shooting Now to celebrate backstage with Armie Hammer. Amy Poehler and True Blood's Joe Manganiello also took the stage to present during the star-studded evening. Judd Apatow played host, and he had a few comments to make about Ricky Gervais's performance at last weekend's Golden Globes. He said, "What did you think of Ricky Gervais? I didn't like him. I thought he was mean." Judd went on to preside over the ceremony that gave top honors to The King's Speech - it's a favorite for the Oscars as well, so stay tuned to Pop tomorrow morning starting at 5:30 a.m. PST to see the Academy Award nominations live!
