Josh Holloway Joins the Cast of Stay Cool

Now, I was interested in the initial movie news concerning Stay Cool, when the cast included Chevy Chase, Winona Ryder, Hilary Duff, Sean Astin and Jon Cryer. But now that they're adding my beloved Sawyer (Josh Holloway, of Lost), my interest has naturally morphed into complete fascination.

The movie, described as a "knowing-your-age comedy" follows "a successful author (Mark Polish) who is forced to confront an unrequited high school crush, Scarlet Smith (Ryder), when he returns home to deliver a commencement address to graduating seniors."

Duff plays Shasta O'Neill, "a sexy high school senior who flirts with the visiting author and invites him to the prom." Holloway's character is "the former high school jock and ex-boyfriend to Ryder's Scarlet."

This collection of people is hilariously bizarre in my eyes, and I can't wait to see what comes out of this project. Will you be first in line at the theaters along with me?

Lost Episode 6: "The Other Woman"

Bottom line of this episode of Lost: Sucks to be Juliet. I still don't altogether trust her, but man, she has got it bad on that island. Anyone else find her to be really pretty in this episode, too? OK, maybe I am warming to her. Just a little.

The episode wasn't as gripping as last week's with Desmond's crazy experiences, but it was more of a fill-in-the-gaps episode, rather than a blow-your-mind episode. For a thorough recap of "The Other Woman," check out WhiplashGirlchild's post. To see some of my thoughts and to share your own (spoilers ahead), read more.

I love how they tried to mislead us in the beginning, when Juliet is explaining to a therapist that she hates to be the center of attention. My first assumption was that Juliet is one of the Oceanic Six - but no. OK, so maybe they only misled me.

There was a time when I thought the driving rain in the forest meant something significant every time it happened, like a motif or something. Now I'm pretty sure it's not that calculated.

How did Therapist Lady Harper get a message from Ben when he's being held captive by Locke?

Goodwin says he got the burn on his arm because he "was pressed up against a transformer." Like, Optimus Prime?

Dan: "So they have Miles."
Kate: "Yeah, but he's fine. They're treating him fine." You know, grenade in the mouth, he's really comfortable.

Best line of the episode: "It's very stressful being an Other, Jack." - Juliet

Claire's haircuts are always so fresh and modern.

I love Ben's allusion to the rabbit he used to trick Sawyer into thinking he'd been implanted with a pacemaker. "This didn't have a number on it, did it?" Hilarious.

Lots of private vs. public discussion. Juliet hates to be the center of attention. She doesn't know why Goodwin has a problem with being private about their relationship.

OK, this whole Charles Widmore thing. First off, who is videotaping the incident with Widmore and the "unfortunate" member of Ben's people who got caught? Also, if Ben really did "tape over" the Red Sox game that he showed Jack that one time, then this thing with Widmore happened between that time and right now.

I still want to know why, exactly, Widmore is so invested in finding the island.

Michael Emerson, who plays Ben is simply one of the best actors working on TV right now. Unbelievable.

When Juliet wonders about the children (Zack and Emma), Ben references the lists again. "Who are we to question who's on the list and who's not?"

I always suspected something weird was up between Ben and Juliet. But holy cow he's a psychopath. "You're mine!"

It's just like Jack to be all macho and smug, "He knows where to find me." Barf.

The promos for next week imply that the person on the boat is "a face you never expected to see again." By this point, many of us think it's Michael on that boat. But what if it isn't? What if it's someone else entirely? Someone we all think is dead? That would be crazy.

What did you think about this all-Juliet episode?

Lost Rundown: Episode 3, "The Economist"

Last night's episode of Lost left me reeling for many reasons. While we did get to see another member of the elusive Oceanic 6, the episode raised many new questions, and as usual, provided few answers. That said, it was definitely one of the more suspenseful episodes we've seen and had enough twists and turns to keep me entertained for an hour.

For an awesome full plot rundown of the episode, check out WhiplashGirlchild's recap. For some of my thoughts and to share your own (spoilers ahead), read more.

Right off the bat, something tells me that the bracelet Sayid stole from Naomi is going to come back to haunt us. The bracelet reads "N, I'll always be with you, R.G." I kinda wish we could just forget about the characters who have already died since we've got so many living ones to follow, but oh well.

Future Sayid is all cleaned up, preppy, and enjoying a country club lifestyle as a member of the Oceanic 6. Based on his golf partner's reaction, Sayid has created a reputation for himself as one of the survivors. Obviously we can't be fooled by his blow-dried hair and fancy threats - Sayid is still just as intense and unafraid of violence as ever, showcased by how quickly he shoots his golfing buddy dead.

New Sayid is quite the smooth talker, and isn't showing any signs of still being in love with Nadia as he gets involved with Elsa. Sad, I kind of miss when Sayid was the torturer/hopeless romantic.

Everyone seems to disagree with Locke, so why don't they just team up against him? I'm especially surprised that nobody has accidentally killed someone else in the heat of passion yet. Namely Ben - Sawyer never seemed to have a problem taking matters into his own hands before.

Dan conducts an experiment on the island, only adding to the mystery of the space/time continuum. Overall, this subplot paled in comparison to everything else that went down.

It's kind of a letdown to see Sayid fall victim to Locke's trap. Especially since Ben pretty much owns Sayid's soul from here on out.

Favorite line of the episode goes to Hurley: "I saw you snap that guys neck with the break dancing thing you do with your legs . . . I think I'll hang back here." Also, that scene from last season was awesome.

Aww, the scene where Sawyer wants Kate to stay with him on the island is pretty sweet, although it's hard to believe that Sawyer is ready to settle down with Kate and raise island babies and live happily ever after. Plus, we know Kate is going to get off the island so clearly Sawyer's powers of persuasion are going to fail eventually.

Speaking of which, does anyone else think that maybe Kate isn't one of the Oceanic 6? Seems unlikely that she wouldn't have to go to jail, considering she was on the run for years before the plane crash. I wonder if she finds another way to get off the island without being as high profile as the Oceanic 6.

Sayid and Elsa's romantic moment gets interrupted pretty quickly when they whip out their guns and start shooting each other. Sayid gets away with the gunshot, only to be stitched up by his new boss - ta da! It's Ben, who is now some kind of doctor?

So, Sayid is working for Ben, but is Ben still running things back on the island? Ben says that Sayid has to "protect his friends," but are those his friends on the island or the ones who were rescued? Who else is Ben asking Sayid to kill? And does he have any contact with the other members of the Oceanic 6? The fact that Sayid still can't figure out a way to outsmart Ben is kind of ominous for the future.

So what did you think of last night's episode? Were you totally confused? Loving all the action? Are you still pulling for Jack and Kate even though it looks like things between Kate and Sawyer get hot and heavy next week? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Sawyer Has a Sassy Name for You, Too, Sunshine

Even if you don't have Freckles or Dimples, can't be deemed Pregnant Girl, Muttonchops or Gimpy McCrutch and think Cupcake, Sweet Cheeks and Hot Lips are kind of old, there's hope yet for you to get your very own Sawyer-approved nickname. ABC's Lost site is hosting a Sawyer Nickname Generator which asks you a few simple questions and then delivers your saucy nickname. Only drawback: there's no feature in which Sawyer himself sneers the name at you.

For a little extra fun, Lostpedia has a hilarious list of Sawyer's nicknames, along with that YouTube mash-up video of him slinging nicknames left and right. From Pippi Longstocking to Mr. Clean to Jimini Cricket, he really does have one for everybody.

Head over to the generator and then tell us what Sawyer nickname you were given! You can call me Rinse 'n' Repeat.

Lost Episode 1: "The Beginning of the End"

I'm not going to go so far as to say the Season Four premiere of Lost was worth the wait because that was a really long wait, and I don't want to jinx us somehow, but this first episode of the new season definitely delivered all the Lost-y goodness we've been craving for months on end. I don't want to spoil too much for those who haven't seen the episode, so to read my thoughts and add your own, read more

If you need an awesomely detailed full rundown of the show, check out WhiplashGirlchild's recap and of course our TeamSugar Lost Group.

Is there a better way to kick off the fourth season of Lost than with a crazy high-speed car chase complete with zooming over fences and crashing into fruit stands? I think not.

Again we get some flash-forwards - this time concentrating on Hurley's experience post-rescue - and they're crazy. Literally. However, the show begins not with Hurley's flash-forward, but with Jack's as he watches the car chase on TV. Also, this flash-forward Jack is way more with it than the last flash-forward Jack was, and he mentions "thinking about growing a beard." So, these scenes are from before the bearded, alcoholic Jack days. Perhaps it's Hurley's funeral Jack attends later?

Now we know that it wasn't just Kate and Jack who were rescued: there's Hurley and probably the three others who make up "The Oceanic Six."

That guy Hurley meets in the mental institution, Matthew Abbadon is a creepy fellow. As is always the case with Lost, a name is not just a name. According to Lostpedia, "In Hebrew, Abaddon means 'destruction.' In Job 26:6; Proverbs 15:11 it means 'place of destruction,' or 'realm of the dead.' Many biblical scholars believe Abaddon to be Satan or the antichrist."

Awww . . . Sawyer shows his little softie side again, asking Hurley if he wants to talk about Charlie. "Holler if you need me." Heh . . . I'll holler for ya, Sawyer . . . heh.

The ladies gossip corner with Claire, Rose and Sun is pretty cute; Sun and Claire joshing each other about hospital birth versus island birth, Rose making reference to Claire rewarding Charlie with sex. Bawdy!

The image of the eye is one of the many common motifs in this show. Still, I jumped a mile when that eye popped up in the window as Hurley looked into Jacob's hut. Whose eye is that? And how does the building disappear when Hurley wills it away?

Holy cow, Jack was actually going to shoot Locke in the face! Locke's hurt little expression afterward was oddly comical, though. Maybe that makes me a bad person.

At the mental institution, Hurley paints pictures of an igloo and a bundled up person next to it. Is this just Hurley veering as far away from his tropical island memories as possible - or something more?

I'm curious as to why Naomi covered for the Losties on the phone with George. But I can't say I care that much.

Aw, watching Hurley's big ol' face crumple just breaks my heart. "I'm listening to Charlie. I'm listening to my friend."

And yet again there is a division into two groups. This time it's the Jack vs. Locke round, however, with repercussions extending beyond even the rescue from the island, as Hurley later apologizes to Jack for having chosen Locke's camp.

Season Four season premiere: Thoughts? Questions?

Like many a "Lost" fan, I've been craving anything having to do with my favorite castaways and their gorgeous, mysterious island. The next season clues doled out by producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof earlier this week sated my appetite temporarily, but I always want more, more, more! Thus, I was thrilled to come across the video online of the Season Three blooper reel, and I just had to share it. It's so funny to watch these actors struggle to be uber-dramatic when all they really want to do is giggle. Also, it appears that Josh Holloway (Sawyer) sometimes has a hard time getting out those funny/offensive nicknames that Sawyer has for everyone.

Speaking of Sawyer's nicknames, WhiplashGirlchild has put together a super fun - and really challenging! - quiz all about Sawyer's penchant for giving his island-mates cruel names. Try your hand at the quiz first, and then come back and watch the video I found that mashes up what appears to be every single nickname ever uttered by Sawyer in the history of "Lost." It's six full minutes of hilarious insults. Yup, six minutes!

To check out the videos, read more

"Lost" Will End in 2010

A while ago, the executive producers of "Lost" said they wanted to set an end date for the series so it didn't drag on too long. Now it's official: The show will end in 2010, after three more seasons.

Here's the most interesting part to me: Each of those seasons will have 16 episodes, and they'll air all in a row, without repeats, much like Fox does now for "24." That means no more mid-season momentum-killing breaks. As part of this deal, executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof will be with the show through the end, so fans don't have to worry about the show winding up in the hands of someone less committed to its story and mythology.

While it's unusual for a network to announce an end date this far in the future, I think it's a good move. Now we know the writers are actually moving toward a planned ending rather than just adding in plotlines and characters for the sake of keeping the show alive for as long as possible. And if you're worried that "Lost" could be spun off into something else after 2010, consider this quote from Lindelof: "Once you begin to see where we're going, I think the idea of sequels and spinoffs will completely go away."

What do you think of the news? Can the show stay strong for three more years?

"Lost" Recap: Episode 19, "The Brig"

Last night's "Lost" was the episode I have been eagerly anticipating for almost a month now, and it was definitely worth the wait. Locke took us on a roller coaster ride of intensity and revelation, while keeping us guessing from start to finish.

To read about all the major happenings of the episode, check out WhiplashGirlchild's recap in the LOST fans group. To read more of my insights about one of the best episodes of the season, just read more

Let's start off with a major theme that's been prominent lately on "Lost" - I have NO idea who is good and who is evil anymore. It seems like everyone has secrets and everyone is out for themselves entirely at this point.

Locke is growing to be more and more like Henry Gale with each episode. They both oscillate between trying to keep their cool, eerie exterior and exposing their inner anguish. There's a yin and yang type situation between them (e.g. at the beginning of the episode Henry is in the wheelchair). It's hard to tell who is manipulating whom, and I love how they expose weakness in each other.

I'm not believing any of this hell/purgatory stuff. It sounds like a theory the Others want to plant into the minds of the Losties, and I'm wondering if the Others got to Naomi and brainwashed or bribed her before the Losties found her. This would explain why Desmond never saw the actual helicopter she fell from.

Why would the Others leave their cozy little community to camp out in tents?

I love that Henry tells Locke that the Others need a gesture of "free will," and then promptly demands that Locke kill his father.

It makes no sense that Locke's father would egg both Locke and Sawyer on. In Locke's flashbacks, we always see his father begging for Locke's help whenever he needs it. This makes me even more sure that the Others are pulling all the strings, and are behind the purgatory theory.

I don't believe a single word Naomi said. I think she's entirely full of crap and not to be trusted.

I'd like to know how Locke managed to get his father into the Black Rock, what with his father's razor sharp teeth and all.

What is the deal with Rousseau? She used to be super suspicious and paranoid, and now she just strolls into the Black Rock, gets some dynamite, and heads out? What is she going to blow up? I really hope we get some more information about her character before this season is over.

Sayid's nails are really long and gross. This has no real bearing on my thoughts of the episode, but since the island seems to have plenty of razors, scissors and other grooming supplies, you'd think he could work on that.

I find it interesting that the Others think Locke is "extremely special," and that Richard the doctor wants to spend more time with him. Didn't they also say the same thing about Walt, and then let him leave the island entirely?

I really like Kate, but she always fails to use common sense. The scene where she runs and tells Jack that nobody trusts him was a cringe-worthy, desperate attempt to get him to like her again. Also, I hate Juliet. I know that all those manipulative side glances at Jack are designed to make the audience hate her, but it absolutely works on me.

When all is said and done, the last few minutes of the episode, paired with the trailers for the rest of the season, gave me the chills and made really excited to check out the rest of the season, which is all I can ask for from a show like "Lost."

"Lost" Episode 14: "Exposé"

Last week it was Locke, and this week, "Lost" turned our attention to Nikki and Paulo. Though I cannot begin to express my frustration at the complete disregard for last week's nuances, I have to admit that I found this episode to be intriguing, even if it didn't answer nearly as many question as it raised. Then again, that does seem to be trademark of "Lost" these days. Here are my thoughts.

In the first five minutes, we learn through flashbacks that Nikki was an actress in Sydney, guest-starring on a cheesy "Charlie's Angels"-type TV series called "Exposé." She's also dating the producer, who (ahem) appears way too old for her. For the non-flashback Nikki details (spoilers ahead, of course) read more

Back on the beach, Sawyer and Hurley's ping pong game is interrupted when Nikki comes running out of the jungle and falls to the ground. She tries to say something, and then appears to drop dead with her eyes wide open.

Sawyer and Hurley try to decipher her last words, which sound like "power line" or "Paulo lies." They set off to find Paulo, who also appears to have dropped dead (in the exact same fashion as Nikki, naturally) in the middle of the jungle after a bizarre struggle. Jin suspects the monster.

The episode unravels in "real time" as the Losties attempt to figure out the bizarre deaths, but also in flashback time, which begins days before the crash and quickly catches up to "real time."

Who Are Nikki & Paulo?
We learn that days before the plane crash, Nikki and Paulo poisoned the wealthy Australian producer and conned him out of $8 million in diamonds. They seem to love each other, but their relationship is severely compromised by the stress from all that criminal activity. When the plane crashes, they lose track of their luggage, which only puts further strain on their relationship.

We see many flashbacks from the first days on the island - interactions between Nikki and Paulo with Locke, Jack, Kate, etc., are revealed for seemingly no reason other than to prove that they've been there all along. Boone and Shannon also make appearances, which I enjoyed but found mostly unnecessary.

Nikki is very concerned about their lost diamonds, even more so than she is about the mysterious "monster" that Paulo claims to have seen in the jungle. She makes friends with Arzt (the teacher who accidentally blew himself up with TNT), who gives her a map that leads Nikki and Paulo to the plane that eventually killed Boone, and they stumble upon the Pearl hatch. Nikki is too consumed with her obsession with the diamonds to care about either of these things. (Um, what?) Paulo finds the diamonds, but doesn't tell Nikki.

Later, Paulo heads into the Pearl hatch and hides the diamonds in a toilet. He also overhears Ben and Juliet discussing how they will manipulate Jack into performing surgery on Ben. Paulo doesn't seem to care about any of this, which just adds to my "Seriously, Paulo?" list. At least he has the common sense to steal the walkie talkie that Juliet and Ben leave behind.

Paulo returns to the hatch at a later date and flushes the evidence. Back on the beach, he tells Nikki that he's glad they couldn't find the diamonds because the money won't come between them. When he gets up, he leaves behind a pack of nicotine gum, which had been in his luggage with the diamonds.

Nikki is infuriated and lets loose a medusa spider. While telling Paulo that he will be paralyzed for 8 hours, she finds the diamonds in his pants. In a moment of weakness (and sheer stupidity), Nikki forgets about the spiders and gets bitten. She runs to the jungle, where she mumbles "paralyzed" to Hurley and Sawyer, who cannot understand her.

Back In "Real Time"

Charlie confesses to Sun that he is responsible for her kidnapping and that Sawyer put him up to it. Sun confronts Sawyer and promises to keep his secret from Jin, but still gives him a nice smack in the face.

The Losties assume that Paulo and/or Nikki were in cahoots with the Others, because they find the walkie talkie on Paulo. While this is a rational assessment, their detective skills totally suck. Where is Sayid when you need him?

Unable to figure out that Nikki and Paulo are only paralyzed, the Losties perform a funeral service and bury them. They scatter the diamonds over the bodies before piling enough dirt to suffocate them when they finally awake from their comas. Ouch. I have to say - assuming Nikki & Paulo don't make a miraculous escape - the Losties are a little too good at accidentally killing each other.

For another fun recap by "Lost" junkie Whiplashgirlchild, click here.

Recast Results: Dirty Dancing

The original cast of Dirty Dancing made it a beloved classic for many of us, but the lists submitted for last week's Recast challenge were just as impressive! I particularly liked Yiddidea's choice of Christian Bale for Johnny - his Newsies performance is still dear to my heart. And being a Zooey Deschanel fan, I can easily picture her playing Baby's sister Lisa, as suggested by WhiplashGirlchild, LaLa0428, Chancleta, and Yiddidea.

I love that Lslybanks chose recent Oscar-winner Alan Arkin for Dr. Houseman, though I could also see Tom Hanks in the role, thanks to Sheena.

However, my favorite Recast list this week comes from Brazilnut! At first I was torn about casting Gwen Stefani, but then again, who knew Justin Timberlake could act? Plus, at least Gwen can dance. Congrats, Brazilnut! To see her list and the "new" cast photo, read more

Brazilnut's cast
Baby: Isla Fisher
Johnny: Josh Holloway
Dr. Houseman: Alec Baldwin
Lisa: Ginnifer Goodwin
Penny: Gwen Stefani
