During the Oscars last night, we got a teaser for Jimmy Kimmel's Academy Awards special, and the show did not disappoint. After teaching us how the Academy wakes up actors who haven't been nominated, we got to the good stuff — the Handsome Men's Club! The star-studded club members included ridiculously good-looking guys we love, from Matthew McConaughey to Lenny Kravitz to Josh Hartnett and way beyond.

In today's casting news, Josh Hartnett has a new job! He's been off the radar for a while, but Variety reports that the actor has just signed on to star in Gunslinger. The project is described as "a revenge-driven tale set in the near future in the snowy wasteland of a postapocalyptic America."

Pop was right to suspect me of chickening out of seeing 30 Days of Night — I very nearly did. Normally I enjoy the opportunity to see a horror flick, even if it might give me the creeps for days afterward. Every week up until the Oscars, I'll be featuring the nominees in the various visual categories, starting this week with cinematography. Yesterday, I had a gallery of stills from The Illusionist, and today's nominee is The Black Dahlia.
While The Black Dahlia was critically panned as a bit of a snooze-fest, director Brian DePalma clearly got something right in creating a classic film-noir atmosphere.
