In today's casting news, Josh Hartnett has a new job! He's been off the radar for a while, but Variety reports that the actor has just signed on to star in Gunslinger. The project is described as "a revenge-driven tale set in the near future in the snowy wasteland of a postapocalyptic America."

- According to Variety, Josh Hartnett will be starring in a London stage production of the movie Rain Man, taking on the role originally played by Tom Cruise.

Remember in the '90s when the World Wide Web was tied to really lofty ideals? This movie does. Josh Hartnett plays a dot-com entrepreneur who, in one scene from the trailer of August insists that this new phenomenon will increase freedom and choice.

Pop was right to suspect me of chickening out of seeing 30 Days of Night — I very nearly did. Normally I enjoy the opportunity to see a horror flick, even if it might give me the creeps for days afterward. However, the trailer for this movie terrified me enough, and I could only imagine what the movie itself would entail.

Today I'm bringing you three titles from the bloody, fright-filled horror genre.

Every week up until the Oscars, I'll be featuring the nominees in the various visual categories, starting this week with cinematography. Yesterday, I had a gallery of stills from The Illusionist, and today's nominee is The Black Dahlia.
While The Black Dahlia was critically panned as a bit of a snooze-fest, director Brian DePalma clearly got something right in creating a classic film-noir atmosphere.
