Buzz-Worthy Video: Joseph Gordon-Levitt Mellows Out
It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, so you know I was pysched to watch him play host on SNL this weekend. And boy, did the guy come prepared. He kicked things off with a ridiculously impressive singing-and-dancing performance of "Make 'Em Laugh" from Singin' in the Rain, but my favorite skit of the night was "The Mellow Show."

In the upcoming Uncertainty, Gordon-Levitt stars as Bobby, who leaves a major decision up to a coin flip along with his girlfriend Kate (played by Wolverine's Lynn Collins). We then watch as the two very different scenarios play out for the couple: one is action-packed while the other is more emotionally grappling.

Ever since 500 Days of Summer, I haven't been able to get Joseph Gordon-Levitt off my brain. (And yesterday's trailer for Women in Trouble doesn't help!) It's not like I didn't pay attention to him before — I loved 10 Things I Hate About You — but my adoration for this guy is ballooning faster than his career.

(500) Days of Summer: A Fantastical Unromance For Realists
The unnecessary parentheses in the movie's title are the first sign that (500) Days of Summer might be too cute and contrived for its own good. Often, it is: the female lead (played by Zooey Deschanel) is named Summer, the wardrobes and apartments are impossibly hip, and shopping at Ikea acts as a relationship milestone. I'm willing to forgive much of that, however, because despite its overly indie constructs, (500) Days of Summer captures many achingly real sentiments.

Move over Brad, Will, and George — there are some hot young actors racking up stellar movie roles and looking good doing it. Not only is this group of guys easy on the eyes, but they all seem serious about cultivating long and prosperous film careers. To sort of steal a line from Zoolander, this casting news makes me think, "That Joseph Gordon-Levitt is so hot right now." He's currently the talk of the independent film town thanks to the good buzz surrounding his upcoming movie 500 Days of Summer, and he just booked a role in Christopher Nolan's next project. Now, he and Rainn Wilson have signed up for a movie titled Hesher that already has Natalie Portman on board as a star and producer.
