Movie Preview: The Love Guru With Meyers, Alba, Timberlake and More

Okay, I'm willing to give The Love Guru a huge chance based on the cast alone: Mike Meyers (natch), Romany Malco (Conrad from Weeds!), Justin Timberlake (dressed all funny and bewigged), John Oliver (hilarious British guy from The Daily Show) and Ben Kingsley (funny because of, you know, his Oscar-winning performance as Ghandi). Oh, and Jessica Alba's in it too.

The new trailer for The Love Guru looks silly in the Austin Powers kind of way, though less charming and less humorous. Still, I have sorely missed Mike Meyers in recent years and it's oddly comforting to see him back in action. According to IMDB, Meyers plays a guru who travels to the U.S. in the hopes of breaking into the self-help business. "His first challenge: To settle the romantic troubles and subsequent professional skid of a star hockey player (Malco) whose wife left him for a rival athlete (Timberlake)." "The Daily Show"'s John Oliver Joins Love Guru Cast

I just love this guy.
John Oliver is one of the greatest, funniest, dead-panniest parts of "The Daily Show" so I am thrilled to see that he's been cast in a real movie!

However...
Said movie is The Love Guru, in which Oliver will star alongside Mike Myers, Jessica Alba and Justin Timberlake. In addition to Oliver, Meagan Goode and Ben Kingsley have joined the cast.

What are they all doing in this movie?
Good question! Oliver has been cast as a gentleman named Dick Pants, a "manager whose goal is to get the Love Guru on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' to settle a rivalry between his client and Deepak Chopra."

Kingsley, who's been making odd choices lately, is playing "Guru Tugginmypudha, the ashram leader who teaches the title character (Myers) how to love himself and how to wear a chastity belt."

Meanwhile, Goode is playing a woman named Prudence who trades one hockey boyfriend (Romany Falco) for another (Timberlake).

So...
There's no shortage of cheeky names and silly premises, but I'm probably still going to see this - especially now that Oliver's climbed on board.

Gwen Stefani and Her Boys Join Other Famous Families For a Kid-Friendly Bash

Yesterday morning, stars and their families came out to support the third annual Milk and Bookies event at the Skirball Cultural Center in LA. Chris Pine, Gwen Stefani, Julie Bowen, and Eric Stonestreet were among the celebrities who lent their voices to the cause by sharing some of their favorite children's stories with the kids. The nonprofit, which focuses on promoting philanthropy at a young age through book donations, got going bright and early and offered a fun-filled day with no shortage of milk, cookies, and - of course - tons of reading.

Gwen's son Kingston walked the carpet with her, while Zuma was a little camera shy. Julie Bowen balanced her sons John and Gus while her third boy, Oliver, wasted no time heading into the action. New Girl's Max Greenfield also brought his 3-year-old daughter out and told us he'd have to hold her back from her crush Chris Pine. Savages Trailer: Blake Lively in a Tale of Two Drug Dealers

Blake Lively is no stranger to juggling multiple men as Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl, so it's not much of a stretch to see her with two lovers in Savages. In the Oliver Stone film, Lively plays O, a woman who's romantically involved with a pair of big-time pot dealers (Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch), who also happen to be best friends. The love triangle gets even more complicated when the guys refuse to go into business with a Mexican drug cartel, and O is kidnapped in an attempt to change their minds.

The trailer for the film is dark, gritty, and sexy: Johnson is the brains of the operation while Kitsch is the brawn, and there's no shortage of gratuitous violence, as they get deeper into trouble. There's also plenty of star power in the supporting cast here, including John Travolta, Salma Hayek, and Benicio del Toro. The film hits theaters this Summer, but see the trailer when you

Last night, Dave Arnold, the director of technology for The French Culinary Institute and Chris Young, the co-author of Modernist Cuisine, hosted the 2011 Cookbook Awards Gala.

And when our baby comes home, we want to have a cool cocktail waiting for him and fabulous seating where he can kick back and put up his feet. The key to a stress-free existence? You can never have enough swill or supremely comfortable sectionals."

John: "After taking all those trains, take a load off and drink up, buttercup! So here's a home we crafted in New Orleans with decidedly chic but über-comfortable seating in the form of a sectional from Hickory Chair. Of course, we want to engage our baby, too, so we added lots of color in the form of throw pillows and amazing artwork. And we stocked up on plenty of gin in the cupboard. Voila! Martinis are served."
