Clooney Goes for Grisham

George is so sad about his pet pig Max dying it seems like he is just throwing himself into his work. He signed on to two new films last week and now he's just bought the rights to John Grisham's novel, The Innocent Man as well. The script isn't written and so far George is only said to be producing. It makes sense that the Sexiest Man Alive would want to do Grisham. Past Sexy winners have also been in Grisham films. Tom Cruise did The Firm and Matthew McConaughey did A Time to Kill.

George's win was a little controversial this year because he'd already won before. We didn't seem to mind, but we hit the streets anyway to see what PopSugar fans had to say. Most people agreed, but those who didn't had some pretty good suggestions for next year. Check it out!

Pilot Scoop: The Firm

NBC has a new drama in its midseason schedule, and it's a story you may already be familiar with. The Firm is based on the John Grisham book and 1993 movie that starred Tom Cruise as Mitch McDeere, but the small screen version has a twist: it picks up 10 years after the book left off. Josh Lucas plays Mitch, who is now emerging from the witness protection program, which he and his wife entered to escape the villainous law firm Mitch worked for.

What it's about: Mitch is practicing law once again, while trying to balance a normal home life with his wife and daughter, but he finds that he may not have escaped his past and previous firm. Juliette Lewis also stars as Mitch's assistant.
Where it works: Lucas is a dreamy leading man with the acting chops to pull off Mitch's passion for his job as well as the paranoia he starts experiencing. Tom Cruise who?
Where it doesn't: The show plays out a little too much like a straight procedural, which I was hoping it wouldn't. The 1993 original is a satisfying thriller, so I had high hopes for the TV series, but I'm not sure it's going to be as good.
You might like this show if: You're a fan of the original movie. Or just Josh Lucas.
When it's on: Thursdays at 10 p.m. on NBC (though the premiere is on Sunday, Jan. 5).

Katie Holmes Does Lunch as Tom Cruise Finds a New Link to the Small Screen

Katie Holmes did the denim-on-denim thing yesterday for lunch with a pal at LA's Urth Cafe. She's in California with her husband, Tom Cruise, and daughter, Suri, while he's on hiatus from shooting Rock of Ages in Florida. Katie and Suri wore their high heels for a recent Memorial Day party at their friend Joel Silver's home, and Tom, along with Connor Cruise, was also able to make the bash. Tom broke from family time last night to attend the Super 8 premiere alongside the film's star, Elle Fanning, director J. J. Abrams, and producer Steven Spielberg. Tom and J.J. worked together on Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol while the actor and Steven have worked on films like War of the Worlds and Minority Report. Another of Tom's endeavors is getting new life on the small screen - Josh Lucas will star in the NBC series The Firm, based on the John Grisham book and Tom's successful 1993 film of the same name.
