Newsflash - Indiana Jones Opens Today

Summer blockbuster season is officially in full gear! Iron Man kicked things off but this weekend it's all about Indy and die-hard fans are already in theaters watching the long awaited fourth installment of the Ford/Lucas/Spielberg film. Shia may be the newcomer but he already knows how important it is to take his mentor's advice. When ET asked Shia what he's learned from the veteran actor he said, "Stay humble." We love it and hope he sticks to it. The cast showed up last night in NYC to express their gratitude to fans for a special screening. Oh and some other celebrities like Eric McCormack showed up as well. He looks so cute, makes me miss Will & Grace a little. I wonder if they agreed with Buzz's review of the film.

The Bourne Ultimatum: Ultimately Awesome

From the breathless start to the wholly satisfying finish, The Bourne Ultimatum is, well, the ultimate action movie experience. Plenty of suspense, intrigue, and fight scenes that somehow make Matt Damon even sexier than ever all add up to the most exciting and tensely gripping movies of the summer.

From the instant The Bourne Ultimatum begins, the shaky camerawork makes the viewer feel rushed and frantic. Bourne is still running from the CIA, having been deemed a "serious threat until proven otherwise." For his part, Bourne thinks "someone started all this, and I'm going to find 'em." Thus, the cat-and-mouse game continues with Bourne trying to track down the person responsible for the way he is and the sketchy CIA guy Noah Vosen (David Strathairn) hot on his trail and taking down anyone who gets in his way. That's just a part of the tensely gripping plot, however, so

read more To help him get Bourne, Vosen strongarms Pamela Landey (Joan Allen) who awesomely turns out to be not just the brains and the beauty of the whole operation, but ultimately the heart and the guts, too. This is, in many ways, her story as well as Bourne's, which is very cool. Watching the movie there is a sense of nothing being wasted and nothing being used extraneously - every edit a careful decision, every fight scene beautifully choreographed. Even when the point of view is not of one character spying on another, the camera angles are such that we always have this voyeuristic sense of seeing something maybe we shouldn't. It's this thoughtful direction that firmly and deftly places us inside this world of espionage, CIA-sanctioned murder and constant suspicion. There is a blessed absence of unnecessary gore, zero sex scenes (save a flashback to Bourne making out with Marie), and no gigantic, masturbatory explosions. In this movie, less is more - way more. Movie Preview: Bourne Ultimatum

The Bourne movies are action flicks that I can get behind. What with the high-speed chases, clever plots to elude the authorities and Matt Damon (who I enjoy watching despite my suspicion that he's not quite the sharpest tool in the shed - sorry, Pop!) looking cute while fighting the bad guys, there's enough stuff going on to keep me engaged.

So the fact that this new, full-length trailer for The Bourne Ultimatum has me excitedly awaiting the August 3 release is no big surprise, but it is a happy one. According to the IMDB plot description, "Bourne races to discover the final mysteries of his past while a government agent tries to track him down after a shootout in Moscow." The Bourne Legacy Teaser: Jeremy Renner Takes Over For Matt Damon

Matt Damon may have exited the Bourne franchise, but his successor, Jeremy Renner, is primed and ready to go. In this brief teaser for The Bourne Legacy, we meet his character, Aaron Cross, an operative being prepped for Treadstone, the CIA program that turned Bourne into an elite government assassin. We shouldn't be surprised that there are more agents like Bourne, apparently, because as Edward Norton's character intones, "Jason Bourne was the tip of the iceberg."

As we see Cross being groomed, and then using his jaw-dropping skills in the field, I let go of my wistfulness for Damon, because Renner's new incarnation is such a badass. Plus, the fact that there are mainstays from the Bourne series here, like director Tony Gilroy and supporting cast members Joan Allen and David Strathairn, gives the new film some consistency, even if Damon isn't there. Though he'll always be the original, I can't wait to see what Renner brings to the table, because from the looks of the trailer, he's the right choice to play Damon's successor.
