Breaking News! Jennifer Morrison Leaving House

I've got some sad news for all you House fans: EW.com just broke the news that Jennifer Morrison is leaving the show. What's even more curious - supposedly she didn't quit.

Was she fired?!

Fox won't comment. Only thing we're hearing is that her departure was a "creative decision."

Morrison hasn't been as prevalent in recent seasons of House -perhaps they were gradually phasing her out? - but I'm still incredibly bummed to see her go. I'm curious to know what will happen with the Chase-Cameron relationship. Does this mean we won't be seeing as much of him? Morrison's final episode will be in November, so I guess we'll have to wait till then to see how the writers tie it all up.

What do you guys make of this news? Are you surprised, or not so much?

Meet other House fans and dish on the latest in the House group on BuzzSugar!

House Rundown: Episode 24, "Both Sides Now"

After last week's episode of House, I wondered how House would cope in a world where he was no longer on drugs. I was also curious to see what would happen to the sexual tension between House and Cuddy now that they've apparently done the deed. How did it all go down in Monday's season finale? If you're ready to talk about it, just read more.

Well, that explains a lot. A few things about last week's resolution seemed too good to be true: Do you really detox from Vicodin in less than 12 hours? And would Cuddy really choose to make out and even have sex with a man she'd been watching sweat and vomit all night? It turns out those things were too good to be true. Instead of coming home with him, Cuddy walked out after House insulted her. Instead of detoxing, House kept right on taking pills. Instead of twirling Cuddy's lipstick all day, House has been playing with a pill bottle. It was all - as the visions of Amber and Kutner tell House - the story he made up about himself. "Too bad it isn't true," Kutner adds. So while the rest of PPH is celebrating Chase and Cameron's wedding, Wilson's driving House to a mental hospital.

I'm not quite sure yet how I feel about this bait-and-switch. I'm not one of the Huddy worshipers who's sad the two of them didn't actually have sex; I figure that'll happen in due time. But I do have some questions about why the House writers used this twist - questions I'll have to wait till at least next season to have answered. These hallucinations are different than the others; why doesn't House just keep seeing Amber? (Is it because he was taking oxycodone instead of Vicodin? That's what I thought, but Fox's official recap says otherwise.) And what does it mean that in House's little fantasy, he is the good guy who detoxes and woos the woman he loves? By being in a mental hospital, it seems like House is serious about getting help and getting clean, and that leaves me wondering the same thing I asked last week: will House without pills still be the same crotchety, brilliant doctor we've come to love?

Meanwhile, Chase and Cameron start out this episode virtually broken up; Chase wants her to destroy her ex's sperm, and she can't do it. I like that it's House who finally convinces her just to take the leap - and that Chase tells her not to. He realizes now that she's not insecure about their relationship; she just can't get rid of the last part of someone she loves. Luckily, Cameron hadn't canceled the wedding plans, and now the two of them are actually (and finally) married. Which probably would have been a lot sweeter if I could have turned off the part of my brain that was thinking about the pair's real-life canceled wedding, but oh well.

Some other thoughts:

Some of my favorite moments in this episode were basically wordless: the patient's wayward hand stroking his girlfriend's cheek; House looking bedraggled and a little bewildered when Cuddy leads him to Wilson's office; Cameron and Chase mouthing "I do." The director of this episode has done some of the coolest House moments (this season's "Locked In" and last year's "House's Head," among others), and I really like his style.

Speaking of the patient, I loved that case. What a fascinating and creepy idea that part of your body could just disobey the rest of it! Not only did it work well as a parallel to House's story, it also included a few great medical moments, including that test with the words popping up on the screens.

Carl Reiner! Man. He's amusing as a pest who won't leave House alone because of his squawking problem (funny that we never actually hear him squawk) and then so, so sad when House realizes he probably has a tumor.

Is that a naked pirate House uses to torment Cuddy?

So: what a rollercoaster! Was this a suitable finale? Are you intrigued to see where the show goes next?

House Rundown: Episode 21, "Saviors"

This episode of House picks up the aftermath of last week's shocking death, and if you were wondering how Cameron and Chase would react, this is your episode: for the first time in a long, long time, the two of them are the focus. Meanwhile, House appears to be completely unchanged by the death - until a big, fun twist in the final minute. Ready to talk about it? Just read more.

I'm torn about this episode's focus on Chase and Cameron. On the one hand, I'm glad they're getting screen time not just as PPH's only ER doctor and surgeon. And, yes, it was frustrating to see them break up - and very, very sweet to see them get back together, with Chase getting down on one knee right there in the locker room. But on the other hand, it's hard to be as invested in their relationship as I used to be when we were seeing them every week and Chase was describing their hookups as convenience food and the like. Even the debate about whether Cameron is in love with House seems to come out of nowhere, just because it's been absent for so long. Not that bringing it up is unfair - she does cancel a weekend away with her boyfriend to spend time with House and his patient. But that seems like a relatively normal panic that could arise from finding the ring your boyfriend plans to use to propose, right? I did, though, get a kick out of everyone turning the question of being in love with House right back on Cuddy, especially Cameron asserting that Cuddy was just trying to mark her territory. (True? I'd believe it.)

Meanwhile, House is desperately trying to find meaning in Wilson's sudden decision to eat healthier - wheat toast, no bacon, a container full of kale. He even confronts Wilson at home, which leads to a very funny exchange about Wilson's food (Wilson points to containers of junk; House says that showing off food he's not eating isn't proof; Wilson says for that, House needs to check the first door on the right). House is convinced Kutner's death is behind Wilson's change; mortality is mortality, and when a doctor goes down, other doctors get scared. Wilson points out that that's ridiculous, House fears this is another sign he's losing his mojo ("I have no idea why you're eating carrots!"), and then finally he puts his finger on it: Wilson's eating healthier so House won't take his food. And everything is as it should be . . .

Except for that pesky ghost that House is apparently seeing. Amber! I cheered the second I recognized her voice. She's leaning on the piano while House plays "Georgia on My Mind" (on piano and harmonica, kudos Hugh Laurie). From the looks of the promos, she's doing a pretty large amount of lurking. It's interesting that she's become kind of a symbol for mental instability on House. Can you imagine how different the show would have been if House had picked her for his team in the first place? Though honestly, maybe she wouldn't have had the power as a regular than she does as an occasional antagonist. Either way, hooray!

Some other thoughts:

Love House addressing the patient's wife as "Mrs. Environmental Nutbag. Or did you keep your maiden name?"

Has total body irradiation ever worked out well on House? I always cringe when it gets suggested

Is it weird that Thirteen, Foreman, and Taub didn't really talk about Kutner?

For a second, I worried that Chase would actually say no to Cameron's "I'm proposing that you propose to me" line. Whew.

Anyone else doing a happy dance at the return of Amber? Or was this one all about Chase and Cameron for you?

House Rundown: Episode 13, "Big Baby"

Hey, it's Cameron! Fresh off her job offer last week, the long-neglected Allison Cameron gets some time in the spotlight on this week's episode of House, filling in for Cuddy while she stays home to be a mother to Rachel - a process that's not going all that well, as it happens. Meanwhile, Foreman considers stepping over a major ethical line and switching Thirteen's medicine in the clinical trial. To chat about it, just read more.

As good as it was to see Cameron back - as the boss of House, no less - it was a situation that seemed doomed from the start. She knows House too well, and House knows her too well; the temptation to play games with each other, asking for and approving inappropriate things, is just too high when lives are at stake. Cameron realizes this in the end and tells Cuddy she won't be going back to the job, but in some ways, that's a shame: Cameron's instincts actually are right in this episode, and House manages to only perform procedures that help him get to a diagnosis. (Sure, one of them meant lopping off the patient's skull for a few particularly gruesome moments - but who's counting?) In the end, though, Cuddy's a better gatekeeper, and so it's back to babysitting House for her.

At least her time at home seems to have paid off: Stressed and sullen for much of the episode, she's not feeling like much of a mother to Rachel. In fact, she's not feeling much of anything at all; she feels lost without work and with this new, little person who can't communicate with her. House's words of comfort are typically, well, House-ian: He suggests that since she hasn't formally adopted the baby yet, she just return it, like an unwanted video game. Wilson, on the other hand, tries to push Cuddy to recognize her mothering instincts, even making up a long story about how he took a photo of Rachel to one of those digital aging places to see what she'd look like when she was 18. (I was pretty relieved to find out he'd actually just brought over the same picture that came with the frame.) In the end, in the midst of a particularly difficult moment of balancing work and family, Cuddy and Rachel finally connect - just in time for her to puke all over House, a move that I'm sure made her mother very proud.

Foreman, meanwhile, is ready to go off the ethical deep end, contemplating switching Thirteen from the placebo to the active drug in the clinical trial. Everyone thinks he's nuts, of course, from Chase to House himself, who actually gives a surprisingly well-reasoned explanation for why it's the wrong move. Until, that is, House adds a caveat: If Foreman loves Thirteen, he'll do stupid things. So I guess he loves her - fatal disease, sudden desire for children, and all - because we see him switching the drugs. I can't imagine he won't be found out almost immediately, so here's the question: Is there any way he's not insane?

Some other thoughts:

For some reason it's weird for me to hear Foreman call Thirteen "Thirteen." For some reason, I figured that now that they're in a relationship, he'd use her actual name. (Granted, he did call her "Remy" to House, who of course pretended to have no idea what he was talking about.)

House's response to Thirteen's suggestion that he judge their ideas on their merits: "Oh, you really don't want that."

The diagnosis in this episode is pretty fascinating: There's a way you can be physically unannoyed by annoying things?

I'm a little surprised Kutner's the one to call Cuddy. I thought Taub was supposed to be the moral center of this team.

Your thoughts? And ready for the big 100th episode next week?

Photos courtesy of Fox

House Rundown: Episode 12, "Painless"

In this year's first new episode of House, House takes a case that hits a little close to home: The team treats a man with chronic pain who had tried to kill himself to get away from it. Meanwhile, Cuddy struggles to balance her job, her new duties as a foster mother, and her wrangling of House, and Thirteen and Foreman get all awkward with each other following their big kiss. To chat about it all, just read more.

Even though House's cane and Vicodin are a constant presence on House, it's still somehow easy to forget that House is actually in real, constant pain that nobody's ever been able to solve. He's functional, he's brilliant, and he never complains - other than the occasional sarcastic comment about being a cripple. So it was interesting in this episode to get a glimpse of what life is really like for House - and it's not easy. Taking a bath is a horrible, painful experience; he needs so much help lowering himself down that he's snapped a pipe in his ceiling, ringing up a $2,200 plumbing bill.

So taking Jeff's case is a little like looking in a mirror. The major difference, of course, is that Jeff can't handle his pain, to the point that he'd leave his wife and child to get away from it. But it's true that House is a little more - well, "sensitive" is probably the wrong word. But he's a little more aware of what his patient is going through. Normally if House considered taking a patient off the medication that made him functional, I'd think he was just being nasty and uncaring; when he suggests taking Jeff off his painkillers, he actually knows how awful that might feel. Of course, at the end, House's pain persists while Jeff's is treatable. He's done what Cameron hoped for, "curing a guy who has even less to look forward to," but getting himself into the bathtub is still a nightmare.

Meanwhile, Cuddy's dealing with a mini domestic nightmare of her own. She's officially taken over as foster mother for the baby she named Rachel, and she looks like she's adapted well to being a mom. But to being a working mom? As the family inspector tells her, she's better than most foster moms he sees, ants in the living room and diapers in her briefcase notwithstanding. But that's not enough for Cuddy; she "passed by their meager standards" but failed by hers. And after talking with Cameron, she has a solution: It looks like Cameron will be taking over some of Cuddy's responsibilities from here on out.

Some other key moments:

Is Foreman monkeying with his clinical trial just so he can sleep with Thirteen? She doesn't want to get into a relationship because she cares about him and she knows what she'll be going through in a few years; Foreman doesn't want to give up. Switching the appointments seems pretty harmless, but now he knows Thirteen is on the placebo drub, and I can't imagine he'll be letting that stand.

Wilson showing up at Cuddy's place with a giant stuffed duck is pretty amazing.

Was there a giant, fancy water fountain-thing in PPH? Has it always been there? I was so distracted by it that I could barely pay attention to Taub's pain profile interviews.

Love this exchange: "You hang laundry in there?" "I'm about to hang a plumber in there."

Your thoughts? Can you still work House into your schedule now that it's on Mondays? Can you see Cameron rising to power? What is Foreman going to do? Discuss!

House Rundown: Episode 10, "Let Them Eat Cake"

After last week's big hostage episode, this week's installment of House went for something a little smaller, and you know what? I liked it better. Almost every character got a storyline, and some of them were awfully clever. Cuddy and House become office-mates, Thirteen starts her clinical trial, and Kutner reveals an, uh, interesting strategy for making money on the side. Ready to talk about it? Just read more.

I really liked the patient's story this week, which is rather surprising since I usually treat the cases as kind of an afterthought. As a personal trainer who'd had gastric bypass surgery to do what she's now convincing her clients they can do naturally, she's a perfect representation of a bunch of House's themes: lying, cheating, denial, etc. Taub, in particular, is wildly offended by her lies - honestly, why does he think he's so morally superior? - and she rightly points out that it's not like he's never been a hypocrite. The ending of her story also surprised me: Faced with the choice of being thin and sick or heavier and healthy, she chooses her beauty over a diet of cookies and cake.

Meanwhile, Thirteen starts her clinical trial afraid she doesn't deserve to be there, which Foreman quickly puts to rest by discovering her nerves have already started to decay. You guys, I really didn't think I cared about Thirteen, but I suddenly do. The episode's peppered with soft-focus flashbacks to young Thirteen watching her mom suffer with Huntington's; eventually she admits to Foreman that she's scared to be around other patients not because she knows what will happen to her someday but because it reminds her of how much she hated her mother.

And Kutner! Jeez, the guy goes online and sets up a second opinion clinic under House's name but doesn't think House will find out? I'm sure House is the kind of guy who has all sorts of Google alerts on his name. Anyway, it all turns out to be an elaborate House punking, with Chase and Cameron in on it and the "patient" turning out to be an actress who got paid to sing the "Lime in the Coconut" song. How quickly did you pick up on this being one of House's pranks? It honestly took me until he showed up in the morgue and started doing CPR on the "corpse." Also, how much of Kutner's money will he actually get now? House gets 50 percent, Taub claimed 30, and Chase took a piece of it, too . . .

House ends up with a few extra hours with the actress that leads to flirting (and other things?), which is extraordinarily unfortunate because right when Cuddy's coming to make nice with him after he somehow finds her desk from med school, she sees them being all cozy and walks away. Argh! Thwarted again.

Some other thoughts:

How'd you like that sad "Lime in the Coconut" slow jam at the end?

So did House really have a change of heart about rewrecking Cuddy's office, or is there still a bidet instead of a toilet ("Not in addition to. Instead of.")?

The scene with House asking Cuddy why she dresses like that (seriously, Lisa, we all want to know) feels so tense, with them so close together and Cuddy saying "everybody knows this is going somewhere." Where it's going, though, is to House's hands on her breasts. Nice one, Mr. Smooth.

Apparently Kutner's an oversharer: "You told us when you renewed your subscription to National Geographic."

Best. Taub. Line. Ever: "Sure, but I wouldn't call a meeting of the Lollipop Guild and tell them they can grow if they work real hard at it."

What did you think? Surprised at how much they managed to pack into this one? Feeling any sympathy for Thirteen? And ready for a House-style Christmas?

House Rundown: Episode Seven, "The Itch"

On this week's House, a few of our doctors have some major fears to confront. We finally see Chase and Cameron together again, seemingly at a crossroads in their relationship. Meanwhile, House and Cuddy reach a crossroads of their own after their surprising kiss. This episode wastes no time picking up in the awkward aftermath of that smooch, and it builds to an intriguing ending, so to talk about it, read more.

For an episode that's all about avoidance, in the end we're left with only one coward: House. Every story in this episode has at its heart a major (if irrational) fear - that of leaving the house, of letting someone deeper into your life, of pursuing a long-simmering relationship. And, though the paths to get there are winding, everyone in this episode beats those fears except House. As Cameron's clearing out a drawer for Chase, and the patient is taking his first steps outside, we see House so very nearly ringing Cuddy's doorbell but then turning and slinking away. Why is House so afraid?

It's odd because, as Wilson points out, House's entire worldview is that everything falls apart in the end, anyway. So why should a presumed outcome of "guaranteed breakup, guaranteed ugliness" keep House from exploring something that could bring him temporary pleasure? To be fair, it's not like Cuddy is exactly running to House with open arms; in her conversation with Wilson - after Wilson has tried, hilariously but unsuccessfully, to convince Cuddy he has feelings for her to make House jealous - she essentially plays out the entire future she sees for her and House. "We'd realize the flirty hostility is just hostility," she says, and they wouldn't speak for two months.

Even though I'm not sure I want House and Cuddy to be in a real relationship, their reluctance to do so is particularly interesting against the backdrop of the other stories in this episode, in which people who have been burned before finally suck it up and move on. Cameron lost her husband, but she finally clears a little space for Chase. The patient lost his girlfriend, but he takes his first tentative steps back into the outdoors. And even Taub's wife decides to forgive his infidelity, or at least momentarily take up with him on the couch. House is the only holdout.

Some other thoughts:

Still mulling over all the symbolism of House's maybe-metaphorical mosquito bite. Seems like the sort of thing someone should write a pseudo-scholarly paper about: Was the itch real? Why didn't he just swat the dang bug? Etc.

It's nice to get a status update on Chase and Cameron's relationship, but I'd prefer to see them together a little more frequently. Before Cameron laid out the details in that first call with House, I wasn't even 100 percent sure they were still a couple.

Loved Wilson's childlike reaction to House's "I kinda hit that" - "Like making out? Or full-on sex?" House's awesome response: "I've got a chart laid out with all the bases. I'll take you through it."

Really, Taub is the best surgeon on the team?

So, what's your take? Is House a coward, or is he right that being with Cuddy would just be miserable for everyone? And why isn't Cuddy being more proactive? Were you happy to see Chase and Cameron together, or did it just remind you of how little we still know about the new team?

TV Tonight: House

I know there was important national business to take care of last week, but it's still a shame House had to take the week off, because I've been so eager to see what would happen in the aftermath of a certain long-anticipated kiss. Tonight, we'll finally get our chance, as House returns to find House and Cuddy (and Wilson) sorting through what exactly that kiss does or doesn't mean.

That's not all, though: This episode also brings Cameron and Chase together again, at long last, though we'll have to wait till tonight to find out what exactly this reunion entails. And together, House's teams (old and new) treat a patient who is housebound and won't come to PPH for treatment. There's a lot to look forward to, so to watch a promo for the episode and a clip of House and Cuddy talking about the kiss, just read more.

House Rundown: Episode 14, "Living the Dream"

As we've seen over the past several years on House, House's life is one of a few simple pleasures. He tortures Wilson. He ogles Cuddy's breasts. He solves medical mysteries for sport. And he watches his medical soap. How many times have we seen him point out this or that minor plotline to someone on his team who made the mistake of wandering in during Prescription: Passion?

Picking up on a real medical mystery while watching Dr. Brock Sterling over-emote must have truly been a dream come true. So much so that he'd badger Evan's publicist and eventually sneak onto the lot and drive actor Evan to the hospital himself? Well, it is House. And for a show built around odd coincidences, Evan having his foot go numb right in front of Cuddy - the person least likely to believe House about Evan's condition - has to be up there with the best twists of fate of all time. What surprised me was that the episode - save for the Wilson/Amber plotline - then turned largely into a story about job satisfaction, so for the rest of my take, just read more.

Evan was miserable playing Brock; we saw him whine that his show was trash, that nobody watched, that he wasn't doing anything meaningful. Meanwhile, House was all too happy to step into Evan's world for a while, flirting with the hot nurse actress and eating sunflower seeds out of Evan's dressing room. Yeah, it was research, but it seemed like research for an alternate life more than a diagnosis.

Meanwhile, it was inspection day at PPH, a day that Cuddy must dread all year long just because she never knows what House will try to pull. That sent Cameron back to House's team temporarily, and even though she was just filling out charts, she couldn't help throwing in her two cents on Evan's diagnosis. I loved watching her interact with House again, and it was hysterical that as soon as she started weighing in, Foreman automatically disagreed with her position. But I guess we can't expect to see her back on the team anytime soon. She told House in no uncertain terms that while she misses being a medical MacGuyver, she doesn't miss House himself.

As for Cuddy, she was sure she was going to lose her job - first through something House did behind her back, later because of something House did right in front of her. If there's one thing Cuddy likes, it's doing her job: getting things done, reining in House as much as possible. We haven't checked in on her social life recently, but given that big, empty bed, I'm guessing the job is the biggest thing she's got going. But she was still willing to put her own neck on the line to back House, which shows his power.

Speaking of power: I love Amber's mind games. The whole buying-a-mattress thing wasn't that important, but it was fantastic to see her make Wilson do what she wanted, then go dramatically the other way - from a firm mattress to the wobbly waterbed he'd always dreamed of, despite its impracticality. And thus, Wilson learned a couple of sad truths: Waterbeds are kind of lame, and Amber is often right.

Some favorite lines:

Wilson: "Amber doesn't do passive-aggressive."
House: "People who do aggressive generally don't limit themselves."

House: "You'd think I'd find a decent set of knockers around here."
Cameron: "Your porn's in the second drawer."

House, eating in the morgue: "If I keep it in the lounge, everyone else eats it."
Cuddy: "That's cause it's everyone else's food."

House: "The good news is, last time Brock was in a coma he fathered two children."

What did everyone else think?

House Rundown: Episode 13, "No More Mr. Nice Guy"

Monday's episode of House had everything I could have hoped for in the show's return - and I'm not exaggerating when I say everything. Cameron, Chase, and Foreman were all there - but so was the new team. There were scenes with Wilson and scenes with Cuddy - and a scene with the two of them together. They even threw in a little Hugh Laurie tooling away on the piano. Doesn't it just figure that the episode about a too-happy guy would make me smile for almost an hour straight?

The team's treatment of the happiest man alive ("Is he Canadian?") led them on a quest to figure out why House is the crankiest man alive. Meanwhile, House set about rekindling his bromance with Wilson by proposing joint custody with Amber. Could House survive seeing his best dude on Wednesday nights and every other weekend? To find out, just read more.

How great was it that this episode started with a strike? That's where we met the patient of the week, the overly happy man. In a normal hospital, I'm sure that guy would have been treated and released, but to House, cheerfulness is the sign of a major defect. I loved that instead of a word at the top of House's whiteboard of doom, there was just a cartoonish smiley face.

Kutner, meanwhile, had his own hypothesis: If being overly happy is the sign of a medical problem, then being overly cranky must be a symptom of a disease, too. I don't buy that, but it does fit in with the sort of logic Kutner has been spouting since the first day he arrived. As soon as Kutner "found" a vial of House's blood, though, I knew something was up: House doesn't leave things behind accidentally. (Remember the false scans that made the whole team think he was dying?) Nonetheless, the faux syphilis diagnosis unearthed an age-old House question: Did House and Cameron sleep together?

Naturally, House didn't have syphilis - but he did have issues with Amber continuing to date Wilson. I loved every scene with the three of them together, and all the joint custody references ("you have mommy's phone number, right?") were priceless. True to form, it wasn't enough for House just to spend time with Wilson; he also had to ruin any chance of Amber getting laid. One question: Is Amber employed at PPH, or did Cuddy just make her change beds?

Some other thoughts:

Foreman's performance review subplot was relatively minor, but it led to an interesting point. House acknowledged that Foreman is someone the new team should fear - but he wants to force Foreman into the "good cop" role instead. Great image of the Foreman statue with a "Kick Me" sign on the back.

"Thirty-one." "Thirty-one?" "I thought either way was good for you."

There wasn't a lot of Taub in this episode, but the scene where he played his little trick to get $5 from Kutner was pretty great.

Speaking of Kutner, interesting that his performance review noted that sometimes he gets too involved. Really? I would have gone with "sometimes you set patients on fire."

"A disturbingly large number of your comments are racist or sexist." "That top makes you look like an Afghani prostitute . . . would be an example of that."

It's always interesting when someone besides House has an epiphany. Does this mean Kutner is going to turn out to be a good doctor?

Anyone else squeal out loud at the sight of Chase bowling with House?

Your thoughts? How good was it to see everyone back? And seriously, do you think Cameron and House ever slept together?
