While the Edwardian era is all the rage at the moment, due to Downton Abbey, the 19th century was pretty fascinating as well, thanks in part to its fantastic literature. The Victorian era produced an amazing number of fantastic romance and horror novels, and one family that contributed greatly to the literature of the time was the Brontes. Sisters Charlotte, Emily, and Anne produced an impressive body of literature, both poems and fiction, which are still being used for films today - in fact, the latest adaptation of Jane Eyre is still one of my favorite films of 2011. Another adaptation of the novel Wuthering Heights screened at Sundance, so we can only hope that we'll have another chance at seeing Heathcliff on the silver screen soon.

Take a look at some images from the Brontes' real-life home, now the Bronte Parsonage Museum, as well as some scenes from Jane Eyre that capture the decor of the era.

David Kirsch's Boot Camp Circuit Workout

He created this fun and challenging workout to help FitSugar readers stay on track through the Winter months! Tone your entire bod with these moves while burning some serious calories. Here's how to follow the workout.

Instructions: Work through the entire circuit doing 15 to 20 reps of each exercise. Then repeat entire circuit twice more for a total of three sets. Your goal is to complete three full sets in 45 minutes. Props needed: a set of three- to five-pound dumbbells, a four- to six-pound medicine ball, and an exercise ball to fit your height.

High Heels Can Give You Barbie Feet

High heels. You either love them or hate them, but you can't deny they are chic. We love the height boost and illusion of longer legs they offer, but we do realize they're not the best things for our feet. Unfortunately, recent research shows that these lovely shoes may be worse than previously thought.

In a study of longtime high heel wearers, published in the Journal of Applied Physiology, researchers found wearing heels actually shortens the fibers of the calf muscle, making the Achilles tendon stiffen instead of flex when walking. High heels keep feet in a pointed position, so even when habitual high heel wearers (those who wore heels at least 40 hours a week) slipped off the pumps, their feet were so used to walking with the heels raised that it became the new norm for their muscles and joints - think permanent Barbie feet. The constantly engaged calve suffers from serious muscle fatigue, but switching abruptly from heels to flat shoes, like sneakers, puts stiletto wearers at a greater risk for injury.

Gabrielle Giffords Says an Emotional Goodbye to Congress

Today officially marked Gabrielle Giffords last day in Congress. The Arizona Democrat resigned from the House of Representatives to focus on her recovery after she was shot in the head more than a year ago. Republicans and Democrats alike praised Gabby, today. Nancy Pelosi thanked Gabby for bringing "the word dignity to new heights by her courage. On the House floor, colleagues tried to hold back tears, while tributing Gabby, who received a standing ovation as she handed her letter of resignation to Speaker John Boehner. In the letter, Gabby wrote: "I will recover and will return, and we will work together again, for Arizona and for all Americans." As for the Republican Speaker, he appeared to be crying openly as he held Gabby's hand.

Gabby decided to step down so she can dedicate herself fully to her recovery. Only a few months ago, Gabby gave her first televised interview with her supportive husband, US astronaut Mark Kelly, by her side. As Gabby struggled a bit with her words, viewers could see her resilience as she explained she wouldn't return to political life until she was "better." Simple Ways to Make Sure Your Bike Fits Your Body

The merry month of May is also National Bike Month. So hop on your bicycle to celebrate. Don't worry if it has been years since you pedaled about town, because the good thing about cycling is ~~it's just like riding a bike~~ that you never forget how to ride one. However, the proper fit can make your return to two wheels much more pleasant. Here are few simple ways to size up your cycle.

Bike Height: Let's start with the bike itself. You should be able to stand over the bike without making contact with the top tube while both feet should be on the ground. If this is not the case, the bike is probably too big for you, and this can compromise your safety.
Seat Height: Adjust the seat of the bike so when you're pedaling your knee is just shy of being totally straight on the down stroke. Your knees should never lock! If this seems too simple, there are at least three different equations for determining seat height should you feel like crunching some numbers before your next ride. My inner geek finds these methods fascinating, but I just measure the height with my knees.
Saddle Comfort: Saddle is "bike-speak" for seat. You want a saddle that cradles your pelvic bones. You might think a cushy, soft seat is the way to go, but these can restrict blood flow due to compression and cause unwanted numbness. We like the leather saddles by Brooks. They're good looking, stiff, and mold to your bum.
Bike Helmet: You want your helmet snug but not too tight; if it's too small you can end up with a headache. You can customize the pads on the inside of the helmet to get a sweet fit. Do make sure the chin strap is not too loose; you should only be able fit one finger between your chin and the strap.

4 Reasons Strong Women Should Watch The Iron Lady

Love or hate Margaret Thatcher's conservative politics, you can't deny her life story is intriguing. Meryl Streep's performance as the UK's only female prime minister in The Iron Lady has rightfully garnered award season buzz. Through flashbacks and scenes in the present day, Meryl brings to life a woman at the height of power and in the depths of grief. Here are four reasons any strong woman should watch the film about the lady with an iron will.

It's honest about aging. I thought The Iron Lady would spend most of its time back in the 1980s. So I was surprised to see how much of the film focused on modern-day Margaret Thatcher, who is dealing with what appears to be dementia, grief, and irrelevance in modern society. Juxtaposing Margaret at her prime and then in her older age demonstrates that she's lived a full life with many highs. But it also makes you reflect on the inevitability of aging. Our lives can be filled with success and a great romance, but The Iron Lady offers young women an insightful peek at the melancholic chapter of life that comes after that. It gives the audience an elderly woman we can empathize with, not just a grandma caricature.
There's an unusual love story. Unlike the typical relationship dynamic we see in movies or TV, in The Iron Lady the woman is the power player in the relationship. Margaret Thatcher's husband takes backseat to her career, and during her prime minster days we see her struggle to make time for her relationship and give her devoted husband more attention. When the film flashes forward to present day, it deals with Margaret Thatcher's horrifying grief and denial over her husband's passing. Meryl Streep's performance as an older woman longing for her beloved husband will help you relate to a grandparent, parent, or anyone else who has lost a partner.
Femininity is an asset. In The Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher breaks down gender barriers to become Britain's first woman prime minister. But while she take lessons to make her voice sound more authoritative, she insists that keeping her pearls is non-negotiable. It seems Margaret Thatcher knew women had assets men don't posses. For example, in one scene she uses shared motherhood to connect with mothers who had lost their sons at war. As Margaret writes a letter, she notes she is the only PM in history who is a mother with a son, assuring the grieving mother that she can truly imagine her pain.
It's an important moment in history. Margaret Thatcher witnessed views about a woman's role broaden dramatically in her lifetime and helped changed perceptions, too. Starting with a fresh-faced Maggie eager to go to Oxford, The Iron Lady tells the story of a woman with ambitious goals, and the entrenched and sexiest biases she must overcome to accomplish them. In the film, Margaret says "one's life must matter" - and she means that for both men and women.

It's almost like having a digital butler . . . except you'll still have to prepare the food yourself. Bummer.
