Movie Preview: The House Bunny With Anna Faris

It's like Legally Blonde meets The Hottie and the Nottie, with a dash of The Girls Next Door tossed in. The House Bunny follows Anna Faris as Shelley, a Playboy bunny who finds herself "too old" to be a bunny anymore. Thrown out of Hef's mansion, she wanders onto a college campus where she discovers a sorority of "nerdy girls" and she becomes their housemother. From the trailer, it looks like she teaches them how to put on makeup and short skirts (the keys to success, apparently?) though by the end of the trailer Shelley herself seems to have learned about the benefits of being a "smart girl."

Though aspects of this movie make me cringe already, I found myself laughing out loud a few times at the trailer, despite Faris' weirdly slurry speech (anyone else notice this?). The House Bunny opens August 22. To check out the trailer,

Lots of moms like to think out loud, and House of Anaïs is one of them. Here is one of the latest posts to her House of Anaïs blog.

Slowly and surely this household is moving to a greener direction. The latest aim I have is to reduce the plastic in the kitchen, namely in containers and plates. Therefore this week we are testing something cool again - the lucky tester is Mr. Hugo, the older half of my twins. He started out as the taller of the two, but the more willing eater Miss Celeste has long ago past him to the point that people now think she is a year old than her brother (difference of well over 2 inches - 6 cm at the age of 2+). Hence the question how to get him eat better?

Little Hugo is a huge fan (with capital H) of cars and trains - so much that in the nursery the cars go everywhere - and even at home one can hear his cars revving up under the comforter at bedtime and they get washed at bath time. So Hugo got this cool new plate, the stainless steel Din Din Smart bus platter from Innobaby. It's cute, fun and also it being stainless steel it is nontoxic and durable.

A Day in the Life of James Oseland

You may recognize James Oseland from Top Chef Masters. He's a regular judge on the show. The New York resident is also the editor in chief of the beautiful and informative Saveur magazine. Here's what he did yesterday, a day he describes as "wonderfully average," Tuesday, July 26.

7:30 a.m.: I started out the day with my usual bill of fare. It was ploddingly predictable. I had homemade poor man's muesli. Every three weeks my partner, Daniel, makes it from scratch. This version had oats, whole rolled oats, and nuts of many different varieties. There were a lot of coarsely chopped Brazilian nuts - which I have affection for. Also dried currents, dried apples, and dried raisins. Daniel teaches ESL in New Jersey and he has to leave early at 5:30. What he does, the night before, is he makes two bowls of muesli and he leaves one in the fridge for me. I bring it out and put it on the counter and let it come to room temperature. I added kefir and some milk, along with my new obsession: fruit from Trader Joe's.

The fruit from Trader Joe's is weirdly more satisfying than the way, way, way too expensive fruit at the Union Square farmers market. At least for now. But this fruit from the Trader Joe's that's two blocks from my house is actually pretty good. It's hit or miss and it's unfortunate that it's prepackaged, so you can't smell it, but you can get some shockingly good fruit. I threw in some apricots and white nectarines that I chopped up and they were very delicious and very sweet. I put some cinnamon sprinkles on the cereal too. Alongside, I had a cup of PG Tips tea with a lot of sugar and a lot milk.

Peter Facinelli Swoops Down For Breaking Dawn

Peter Facinelli hopped off a flight from LAX yesterday and made his way through the Vancouver airport. He was a late addition to the Canadian set of Breaking Dawn, which apparently is still filming north of the border. Peter's costars, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, spent their weekend shooting the last installment of the Twilight series, though they were actually doing shirtless and bikini scenes on the Caribbean island of St. Thomas. Robert is now in Berlin, prepping for the German premiere of Water For Elephants. He's been extra busy with his big-screen role, promoting his TV series Nurse Jackie and apparently teaming up with the US Parks Department for an event at the Grand Canyon last week. He still had time to celebrate last weekend's holiday and tweeted a picture of the Easter bunny kicking back after a hard day's work. Peter recently spoke about wrapping up Twilight and revealed new secrets about Bella and Edward's wedding scene. He said, "The wedding scene, first of all, was really beautiful. The way the set was decorated, the way they lit it. It’s in the backyard of the Cullen house, and they utilized the space really well. For us as actors, it was hard because it was raining the whole time we shot, but you’ll never see it on film. For us, it was raining and muddy, but on film, it will look beautiful."

Desire/Acquire: Animal-Shape Pillows

I'm an animal lover, and since this is the Year of the Rabbit, adding one or two bunnies to the house may be inevitable. I'm digging the Fauna Rabbit Pillow ($104) but at just over a benjamin, this bunny goes from cute to a little too precious. And while I love that these pillows are printed by hand and also feature other fun animal shapes, truth be told, if I'm going to add one of these creatures to my house, I don't want to be defending it from a sticky-fingered toddler who might mar its expensive pelt. Bottom line: I'd like a cute animal pillow that costs a bit less, thank you very much. Luckily, there's a much less expensive option!
