Buzz Gift Guide: For the Geeky Guy in Your Life

Guys may seem tough to shop for, but in the end there are a few (almost) universally accepted gifts - like DVDs. Luckily I've tucked a few of those into my latest installment of holiday gift guides. This one is dedicated to the geeky guys out there, whether it's your boyfriend, brother, or super cool uncle.

To get you started, I've picked up the first five seasons of Lost on DVD - now he can go back and analyze seasons before the big season six premiere, or get into the show for the first time. Buzz In: When Do You Start Watching Holiday Movies?

December is just a few days away, which means the world of pop culture will officially take a turn for the merry. November dabbles in holiday stuff, but next month is where it really all begins. Growing up, I always considered Thanksgiving to be the kickoff point for watching holiday movies, but these days the fun seems to start even earlier (e.g., A Christmas Carol has been playing for weeks).

I have some friends that refuse to watch anything holiday-related when it's not in season, and others that don't care for festive entertainment at all. Where do you fall in the ranks? Do you have certain movies that you always start with and others that are saved for later in December?

I can't wait to see what the gang on HIMYM and Gossip Girl will be up to from behind their servings of turkey, before Christmas comes early to Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives. Buzz-Worthy Video: Comedian Christmas Carol

Is it too early for a holiday music video? Not when it's one starring a host of comedians like Patton Oswalt, Paul F. Tompkins, Weird Al Yankovic, and Rob Huebel, plus many more. Even Mary Lynn Rajskub pops up for a verse or two!

The song, "Do They Know It's Christmas?", was originally written in the '80s for a group of celeb musicians, but this one is very different, and very tongue-in-cheek. Just take the, um, "special appearance" by Thomas Lennon and Ed Helms.

We've all got one: that best friend, sister, cousin, or co-worker who just can't enough pink. She's the one who's hosting the Sex and the City marathons and insisting that everyone drink cosmos. Luckily, the girly girls of the world are among my favorites to shop for!

Confessions of a Shopaholic is the perfect chick flick to watch with friends, while Madonna's Celebrations anthem is a must for great pre-party tunes. I've been rolling out my gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season, but let's face it: this time of year is all about the kids. I've got a few pretty amazing young'uns in my life (don't we all) and they're really the most fun to shop for.

I'm all about the hands-on creative stuff, which is why I included an awesome Indiana Jones LEGO set and a Project Runway-themed kit for kids to decorate their own clothes. But at the end of the day, who doesn't enjoy a little snuggle time with a good children's book or Pixar movie?

Teen girls can be kinda picky when it comes to presents. Luckily, they're also pop culture nuts. I'm thinking Lauren Conrad's novel, LA Candy, should satisfy them nicely, along with Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist on DVD and a Gossip Girl tee. Of course, Twilight seems to be every high school student's obsession du jour, but why not get them started on The Vampire Diaries book series? That Stefan is pretty hot. (Oh, but if they are crushing on Edward Cullen, check back later. There are plenty more holiday ideas as far as he's concerned.)
