A Hearty Serving of Food Reality Shows

I know that you guys - like me - are very excited for Bravo's "Top Chef Miami," which starts on June 13. But if you need some food-centric reality TV to hold you over until then, there is plenty to go around. A sampler:

Chef Gordon Ramsay's "Hell's Kitchen" (pictured) premieres tonight at 9 p.m. on Fox.
Bravo's brilliantly conceived "4 Star All Stars" special, pitting "Top Chef" finalists from seasons 1 and 2 against each other, airs this Wednesday, June 6, at 10 p.m. I'm totally rooting for Harold to kick Ilan's butt.
"The Next Food Network Star" had its two-hour premiere last night, and if Yum's recap is any indication, this season is going to be much better than the last two.

I've never gotten into "Hell's Kitchen," but after reading more about it, I'm not sure why I've been avoiding it. It sounds like "Top Chef" with a slightly megalomaniac host (Ramsay) and a very cool prize: The 12 contestants are vying for the job of head chef at a new Italian restaurant at the Green Valley Ranch Resort and Spa in Vegas. The space shuttle Enterprise took its final voyage in style today atop a 747 flying over the New York City skyline. After today's landing at the John F. Kennedy International Airport, Enterprise will be ferried via the Hudson River to its new home at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. Brian Atwood's chic shoes have been spotted on a bevy of stars, like Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Trachtenberg, and, most recently, Jennifer Lawrence at the Hunger Games premiere, to name a few, so we're predicting that his gorgeous new handbag line, only available at Gilt.com, will garner an equally star-studded crowd. Last night, Gilt hosted a beautiful event at The Standard hotel in NYC to celebrate Brian Atwood's new collection, and not only did we get to check out the gorgeous clutch collection in person, but we also got up close and personal with the designer himself and chatted about his new line, his most memorable red-carpet moments, and his best friend, and Oscar nominee, Melissa McCarthy. Read below for all of his fun anecdotes.

FabSugar: What was the inspiration behind your beautiful new handbag collection?
Brian Atwood: It was about being surrounded by amazing women, seeing what their needs were. It was about taking that DNA and excitement from what I put into my shoes into a bag and thinking what would that bag look like, how do we make it cool, gorgeous, and showstopping? It's only the beginning, I'm having so much fun.

FS: What are some of your most memorable red-carpet moments?
BA: The first red carpet I had was with Debra Messing at the 2002 SAG Awards. I had no idea, I think she bought them, and someone told me she was wearing my shoes. That's when you really understand the power of the red carpet; it was pretty amazing. Cameron Diaz also wore [my shoes] at the Oscars with a dress which was short in front and long in back. I thought that was perfect. And now we have the shoe cam, I love the shoe cam!

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise Do a Girls-Only Dinner in NYC

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise kept their NYC outings coming when they heading to dinner last night. The girls have been busy in the Big Apple this week with a meal at ABC Kitchen, a stop by a Whole Foods and a toy store, and fun afternoons with Katie's mom, Kathleen Holmes. On Tuesday, Katie, Suri, and Kathleen painted their own pottery at Make Meaning after Katie and Kathleen were spotted grabbing coffee together earlier in the day. There's been no sign of dad Tom Cruise on the East Coast with his girls, but he'll be back in the spotlight soon when he starts promoting Rock of Ages ahead of its Summer release.

Michael Fassbender Goes Shirtless - And Reveals His Oscars Date!

Michael Fassbender is hot and shirtless on this week's edition of The Hollywood Reporter. There was a lot of ground for Michael to cover with the publication, including his amazing 2011, full frontal nudity in Shame, and upcoming Steven Soderbergh movie Haywire. Shame has gotten Michael noticed this award season, and after getting a nod in the best actor category at the Golden Globes, odds are good that he'll add an Oscar acknowledgment to the list. In Michael Fassbender's Hollywood Reporter interview, he discussed that possibility and elaborated the differences between being a struggling vs. successful actor. Steven Soderbergh also weighed in to give Michael credit for his late-night abilities. Here are highlights from the article:

On going to the Oscars, and who he'd take: "It would just be a bonus, but of course I would take my mom down the red carpet."
On an odd job he took for money during lean years: "I had to call people who had filed complaints about the Royal Mail and see if they were happy with how their grievances were dealt with. Most of the time they weren't. My goal was for acting to become my main income. I would say to myself, 'I'm good enough.' That became my mantra."
On finally making it: "It's nice to have that security where you think if everything goes tits up, I've now got a flat I own and I don't have to worry about paying the bills and putting food on the table. I'm really lucky that it happened to me when it did, considering the recession."
Steven Soderbergh on Michael's abilities to party: "He’s a blast. We’re out one night and it’s 3:30 a.m., and we’re in someone’s kitchen and Michael is singing. I’m like, 'Dude, I gotta go.' The phrase Michael uses most often is, ‘So where are we going now?' He's the Duracell movie star.'"

David Beckham Kicks It With Romeo and Cruz

David Beckham hit the field with his two youngest sons, Romeo and Cruz Beckham, in LA yesterday. The boys kicked around a soccer ball before joining in a game with their teammates. David watched while Romeo and Cruz played, but he also apparently made time to pose with a few fans on the sidelines. Victoria and Harper weren't spotted at the match, as they've been in the UK. Victoria ate at pal Gordon Ramsay's new restaurant, Bread Street Kitchen, in London over the weekend while David lunched with Romeo and Cruz on the West Coast. David will soon make a trip to Northern California, where he'll participate in a live chat with GoogleTalks this Thursday.

Geoffrey Zakarian on Winning The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs

Those of you who've tuned into the Food Network at all in recent days might have heard that the last season of The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs has just wrapped, and a new champion has emerged victorious out of the star-studded (and highly competitive) lineup.

That would be Geoffrey Zakarian, guest judge of Food Network's Chopped and chef and owner of The National and The Lambs Club in New York City and Tudor House in Miami.

I had a chance to catch up with the chef over the phone, where he revealed his thoughts on why he won, how he hopes to set himself apart from the others on Iron Chef America, and what he always makes for the holidays.

YumSugar: You had a very serious expression on your face when the final outcome was revealed. What was your first thought when they announced you as the winner?
Geoffrey Zakarian: Well, they actually didn't call my name, which was sort of confusing, because whenever anyone got kicked off, they would actually say, "You will not be the next Iron Chef." But I was stunned, shocked, and relieved; there was a real sense of accomplishment.
