Dr Pepper for Everybody! (If Axl Rose Releases GNR Album)

The Random News Item of the Day title goes to this little tidbit from Billboard:

Many have tried, but so far nobody has been able to pry the decade-in-the-works Guns N' Roses album Chinese Democracy from the hands of lone remaining original member Axl Rose.

Now, Dr Pepper thinks it's up to the challenge. The soft drink company says it will give a free can of Dr Pepper to "everyone in America" (excluding ex-GNR members Slash and Buckethead) if Chinese Democracy arrives anytime during the calendar year 2008.

You might be wondering, as I was, "Huh? Why Dr. Pepper?" By way of hilarious explanation, Dr Pepper director of marketing Jaxie Alt patiently breaks it down:

It took a little patience to perfect Dr Pepper's special mix of 23 ingredients, which our fans have come to know and love. So we completely understand and empathize with Axl's quest for perfection - for something more than the average album. We know once it's released, people will refer to it as "Dr Pepper for the ears" because it will be such a refreshing blend of rich, bold sounds - an instant classic.

See, Axl? They get you. "Dr Pepper for the ears"! Now give us the dang album.

Matt Damon and Justin Timberlake Rock Out With Guns N' Roses

Matt Damon helped wrap up New York Fashion Week last night at a special Guns N' Roses concert held inside the Hiro Ballroom. DeLeon Tequila hosted the bash, which also brought out pregnant Sienna Miller and Tom Sturridge, along with Olivia Wilde, Jason Sudeikis, Taylor Momsen, and Jimmy Fallon. Matt had wife Luciana on hand, but Justin made the rounds without his rumored fiancée Jessica Biel. Their late night of rock and roll was Matt and Luciana's latest fun event. They wrapped up January with a shirtless and bikini-filled St. Barts yacht vacation, then were off to London to celebrate Lisa Snowdon's 40th birthday.

Matt Damon and his wife Luciana arrived in LA yesterday afternoon. Their visit to California is the latest stop on a busy 2012 itinerary. Matt and Luciana kicked off the year with a bikini and shirtless-clad vacation in St. Barts, then hightailed it to London for their mutual friend Lisa Snowdon's 40th birthday party. They then returned home to NYC, closing out Fashion Week last month at the star-studded Guns N' Roses show at the Hiro Ballroom. Matt and Luciana skipped out on the Oscars, but he joined forces with pal Jimmy Kimmel for a post-Academy Awards spoof that aired on Kimmel's late night show. Next up for Matt will be working on a film with John Krasinski. Matt and John's Promised Land will shoot in Pittsburgh, according to reports, and filming should start soon with director Gus Van Sant at the helm.

Justin Timberlake and Carey Mulligan reported to the set of the new Coen brothers movie, Inside Llewyn Davis, in NYC yesterday. Justin and Carey both sported vintage 1960s looks as they got into character to film the first scene of the "screwball comedy." Carey arrived on the East Coast after spending the weekend in LA, where she grabbed lunch with Dianna Agron. Justin, meanwhile, spent the last week socializing in the Big Apple. He joined Matt Damon at a Guns N' Roses concert and also made a surprise appearance on SNL. Justin celebrated after the show with his fiancée Jessica Biel, who was reportedly spotted wearing her engagement ring at the cast afterparty.

Pregnant Sienna Miller holed up at a banquette with her fiancé Tom Sturridge, while nearby, Matt and Luciana Damon hung out with their pals designer Naeem Khan and Padma Lakshmi. Matt even said a quick hello to Justin Timberlake. New couple Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis made the rounds, as did Jimmy Fallon and Boardwalk Empire's Jack Huston with his Victoria's Secret Angel girlfriend Shannan Click. It was Sienna's latest Fashion Week outing. She joined W magazine editor Stefani Tonchi on Tuesday night for the opening of "The Ever Changing Face of Beauty" exhibit at the Park Avenue Armory.

Additionally, a very important element of this year’s holiday theme is the recognition and support of America’s military families.
