It's only just July, but things are already heating up on the Gossip Girl set, as the show has just cast another new love interest for a major character. First came news of Joanna Garcia's guest role last week, and now it's Hilary Duff's turn.
Duff has been cast as Olivia Burke, a movie star who comes to NYU seeking a normal college experience and ends up as Vanessa's roommate.

It's not as good as a second season of Privileged would have been, but at least it's something: Joanna Garcia has booked a guest role on Gossip Girl as a love interest for one of the regular characters — supposedly Nate.
Garcia will play Bree Buckley, described as "an irreverent, slightly evil Miss America type" who comes from a conservative Southern family but is politically progressive herself. She's going to appear in four episodes, starting with the Sept.

It's becoming more common these days to take a popular TV show with a built-in fan base and develop it for the big screen. It worked well for Sex and the City, and some people think that it would be similarly successful for Gossip Girl. Even Leighton Meester says so: "A Gossip Girl movie could be compared to a Sex and the City-type of movie.

This week's season finale of Gossip Girl is everything I've come to expect from this show in terms of the way it ties up loose ends. It ties them, and then it unties them, and then it ties them again. All in an hour.

We still have one more episode (tonight!) left to Gossip Girl's second season, and then we will have spent two whole seasons following "the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite." In the first season we were learning what this world of rich Upper East Siders and hip Brooklynites was all about, and season two held even more outrageous plotlines and (usually) enviable fashion. I can't wait to catch tonight's finale, but in the meantime, tell me: What have you thought of Gossip Girl's sophomore season?

Many of you felt my pain when it came to this week's episode of Gossip Girl. Thanks to the Lily flashbacks, just a few Upper East Side prom scenes got squeezed in between trips back to '80s LA — and that means an entire generation of GG fans got cheated out of the kind of episode that can be the highlight of a teen TV show's lifespan. So I've gathered up some memories of favorite proms from TV shows past.

Most of you were at least a little excited to see Gossip Girl introduce its potential Lily spinoff on Monday. Well, now that we've seen the sample scenes, do you think the show could work as a series? Or is this one trip to the '80s that you'd be just as happy to cut short?

There's always talk of how manipulative Gossip Girl's Lily can be. Some say she's a bad mom because she's been married a lot and is overly concerned with appearances at the expense of her own children. But I've always thought she seemed cool.
