Will You Be Tuning In to Watch DJ AM's Gone Too Far Tonight?

DJ AM's final project, his documentary series Gone Too Far premieres tonight on MTV. There was some debate over whether MTV should air the show after DJ AM's death over the Summer, but at the blessing of his family the eight part series will go on. Buzz has a heart wrenching preview of what we can expect as we see Adam help young drug addicts, which ultimately in part led him back down a path to his own accidental drug overdose. MTV has always tried to make a name for itself airing edgy and real life shows, but this one seems like it will be particularly difficult to watch considering the grave outcome. So tell us, will you be tuning in to watch DJ AM's Gone to Far tonight?

TV Tonight: DJ AM's Gone Too Far

After the surprising death of DJ AM (Adam Goldstein), no one was sure what would happen to Gone Too Far, his MTV documentary about addiction. Would it be wrong to air it, since it was discovered that he was abusing drugs? Or is it a cautionary tale that could encourage others to seek treatment? Your feelings were mixed, although a small majority of you thought the network should continue on with the program. After receiving the blessing of his family, MTV finally premieres the eight-episode series tonight.

The show follows AM as he stages interventions with friends and relatives of young twenty-somethings using heroin and other drugs. It's a tough topic to cover - especially given the surrounding circumstances - but judging by the trailer, it looks like MTV handles it with the appropriate respect. The footage actually gave me a few goosebumps - it's eerie to see Goldstein helping others overcome the problems that led to his own demise.

Should MTV Air DJ AM's Reality Show?

On Friday I was sad to hear the news of DJ AM's tragic passing. As the aftermath and details of his death continue to make headlines, the fate of his reality series is still up in the air. Gone Too Far was set to start airing on MTV in early October, following AM as he stages interventions for friends and loved ones of young adults with drug problems - check out the clip below where he talks about the inspiration for the show. His death has already been linked to drug use and abuse, so I wouldn't be surprised if MTV pulls the plug on the show entirely. This week's Mad Men brings back a character we haven't seen in a while, Paul Kinsey, and gives us a look at a relationship between two characters - Joan and Don - who we don't often see interact (but wow, when they do, is it entertaining). Financial problems also start to make Lane Pryce sweat in a subplot that's obviously leading to something far more serious.

The Paul story line kind of feels like a filler-y diversion, but I still liked seeing the old character and getting to see a side of Harry Crane, who's been relegated to being made fun of by Don lately. There are big moments this week I want to discuss, though, so to get to it, just read more.

If something feels off at the office, you may want to brace yourself for the worst. Wise Bread shares signs to look for when a pink slip is coming.

There are two types of employees. One has a good idea of what they do, who they are, and what position they play in the company. They are savvy. They know the score. They are under no delusions, and will no doubt leave for another job long before they are ever considered as cannon-fodder.

And then there's the other kind. The guy who could get Gandhi to hate him. The woman who spends most of her day chatting on the phone to friends or doing online shopping. Or the nice chap in sales who is completely oblivious that the recent merger means his job is now obsolete. They all have Ostrich Syndrome. They couldn't see a pink slip coming if it was 8ft tall and glowing in the dark, screaming "you're fired!"

You want to avoid being in that second category at all costs. So I've compiled a handy list. If you can answer yes to THREE or more of these questions, you may want to think about sprucing up your résumé and dry-cleaning your best interview attire.

1. Are you no longer in the loop about, well, anything?

This is a huge telltale sign. Suddenly you're finding out about company news from the cleaning lady or the new girl in accounting. If you were formally in the know about all things business related, but now suffer from "the company's doing what??!" disease, the writing is probably on the wall.

2. Did you recently screw up big-time?

We're not talking a minor faux pas here. Did you lose money on an account that was previously bulletproof? Oh dear. Were you caught having sex on the boss's desk with the boss's spouse? That's probably not a career-enhancing move. Unless you're a real dope, you know if you have screwed up. And if you know, HR knows. It may not be the final nail in your coffin, but it's a nail in the coffin nonetheless.

3. Are people avoiding you at all costs?

Eye contact is difficult to make with someone if you know his or her head's on the chopping block. Small talk is just as tough. It's best just to avoid that person altogether. So if people are no longer doing that fun "stop 'n' chat" in the hall, or the coffee room empties when you arrive, then guess what . . . you may be a marked man or woman.

Ever want to read your interviewer's mind? LearnVest shares a couple of secrets hiring managers don't want you to know.

The next time you walk into an interview, consider the following:

Your wedding or engagement ring? Can and may be used against you.

Those photos of kids on a hiring manager's desk? They may not actually be the manager's children - but the photo is designed to get you talking about your kids or whether you plan to have some eventually.

And then there's the trick that can land some applicants $20,000 more when they start negotiating their salary.

In fact, LearnVest got the inside scoop from hiring managers across the country. Many spoke on the condition of anonymity because their methods were so controversial - and not what you'd find in any company manual.

New research out of the United States Census Bureau shows that women still earn less than their male counterparts at every education level. Although women are outearning men in terms of college degrees and doctorates, our wages aren't keeping up. In fact, the gap only worsens at higher levels of education.

But armed with this insider knowledge - straight from the mouths of those who hire you - you can help improve both these statistics and your bottom line.

I leave pictures of kids on my desk. They’re not even my kids.

Legally, hiring managers aren’t allowed to ask if you have kids, just as they’re not supposed to discriminate against you on the hunch that your child might occasionally have a soccer game. But we spoke to one hiring manager who leaves pictures of her niece and nephew to find out (legally) who has kids. “I’m not allowed to ask about family situations, but if they bring it up, it’s fair game. Kids are a distraction to this job, which requires long hours and weekends. I won’t hire someone who has other priorities.”

How to handle this: it’s very easy to get nervous and resort to small talk. (“Oh, are those your kids? How old? Mine are 6 and 10 . . . ”) Commenting on kids’ photos is easy bait, especially if you’re a parent yourself, but avoid it if you can. Talk about the weather or find something to compliment your interviewer on instead.

I check for wedding bands.

One hiring manager told us: “This is an entry-level job, and the people we hire are usually fresh out of college. If I see a wedding band, there’s a good probability that candidate is going to start a family soon. If I hire her and she goes on maternity leave, I can’t legally fire her, but I still have to find someone else to replace her while she’s gone. When she comes back, I can’t fire her either, so now I’m stuck with two employees when all I needed was one. No thanks.”

This one is an easy fix: leave your wedding ring at home. You're not obligated to share any information about your relationship status, so try to avoid doing so.

Game of Thrones Season Premiere: What We're Still Talking About

After a year of waiting for the aftermath of Ned Stark's beheading, Daenerys Targaryen's dragons hatching, and war brewing in Westeros, Game of Thrones made its triumphant return this week, and the season two premiere did not disappoint. I was thrilled to catch up with the likes of Tyrion Lannister and Jon Snow, though less-than-enthused to be reunited with Joffrey and his evil ways.

I don't want to give too much away for those of you that haven't seen it yet, but there are plenty of new developments (and characters) to break down - as well as a few omissions from the episode. Let's talk about the major moments we're still dissecting when you

Is Tyrion Lannister the new Ned Stark? With Ned (Sean Bean) gone, it seems that Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) may have replaced him, as far as screen time goes. And with good reason - Tyrion has the best lines as usual, and I ate up every scene as he settles into King's Landing as the new Hand of the King.
Joffrey is becoming more infuriating by the minute. Maybe it was the long hiatus, but I wasn't prepared for quite how evil Joffrey is coming out the gate in this episode. His lack of sympathy for Sansa is expected, but his cruelty has gotten worse than ever. Watching him try to drown someone with wine is hard enough, but the murder spree on Robert's bastards in the closing moments of the episode is shocking and heartbreaking.
Jon Snow's Big Love moment. I'm happy to see Jon Snow off the Wall (I'm happy to see him anywhere, really), and his ventures into the North get interesting really fast. We thought the Lannister incest storyline was bad, but the Wildling and his long line of wives/daughters makes Jaime and Cersei look like saints.
More Arya, please. I've been dying to find out what will happen to Arya now that she's posing as a boy and is riding with the Night's Watch, but she's only in the episode for a very brief moment. Hopefully that will change next week, as we see what will become of Gendry, Robert's only remaining illegitimate child.
Robb and Jaime's showdown. Ned may be gone, but Robb's growing nicely into his new role as the head of House Stark. He already seems light years more confident with three major wins under his belt, and it all builds up to his tête-à-tête with Jaime. Jaime's still got a sharp tongue for a prisoner, but he fails to shake Robb's swagger. (It probably helps that Robb has a now-extraordinarily-large wolf on his side.)
The dragons. The Stark family direwolves aren't the only animals in Westeros - Dany's dragons are in full effect, though they aren't exactly as fierce as one might think. For now, they're more like accessories that add to Dany's khaleesi garb. Cute, yes? Imposing? Not so much.
