A Gilmore Girls Movie - Yay or Nay?

You may recall that Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator behind Gilmore Girls, left the show shortly before its final season because of disagreements with Warner Bros - but now, she reveals in a recent interview that she'd like to bring back Lorelai and Rory to the big screen!

I hope that some Hollywood studios are listening, and take her up on her suggestion. While it's just a wish of hers (and mine) at the moment, I miss the pop culture quips and sweet relationship moments that the Gilmore women delivered each week. A movie version probably wouldn't be a box office blockbuster, but I'm sure it would help satisfy GG fans who felt disappointed when Sherman-Palladino wasn't around to tie up the show's loose ends when it was still on TV.

Do you agree? Or do you think it's better to leave Gilmore Girls dead and buried?

Privileged's Will and Gilmore Girls's Logan: A Theory

I recently received a message from Team member syako in which she put forth a theory about a connection between Privileged (which, sadly, ends tonight!) and Gilmore Girls. The theory is this: Viewers of both shows who like the character of Will on Privileged (Megan's hunky but perhaps a little spoiled neighbor) were probably also fans of Logan on Gilmore Girls. So far we are proving this theory correct: She likes both Will and Logan, and I don't care very much for either of them!

Where do you fall? Did you like Logan during the Gilmore Girls days? Do you care for the handsome Will, despite his occasional whining?

Privileged has, in some ways, filled the hole that was left when Gilmore Girls ended - I just find it so refreshing to see a TV show about teens and an early 20-something girl that isn't, well, trashy. Tonight's season finale is titled "All About a Brand New You!" and features Kathy Griffin as the wedding planner for Marco and Keith's wedding. There's a ton of other drama, including (but not limited to) issues with Megan's dad, a Spring break-related tiff between Rose and Sage, and Luis's refusal to attend a gay wedding.

Have You Ever Received an Entertainment-Inspired Romantic Gesture?

Valentine's Day is fast approaching and over the weekend I chatted with some of my friends who aren't too excited to do the same old, same old thing of cards and candy. So we started thinking up other romantic gestures - quirkier, cuter things that a sweetie might not expect. And of course, this turned into a discussion of romantic gestures taken from - or inspired by - movies and TV.

For example, I know a woman who had her guy stand outside her apartment with the trench coat and the boom box raised over his head, a la Lloyd Dobler (does that cross over into creepy? Discuss.). A guy friend of mine said he wishes he had the courage to play a song on his guitar in front of a plane full of strangers, like Robbie (Adam Sandler) in The Wedding Singer. There was also some discussion of how awesome it might be to receive 1,000 daisies, like Lorelei does on Gilmore Girls, or dozen after dozen of those lovely lavender roses that Lewis (Christian Slater) sends to Lisa (Mary Stuart Masterson) in Bed of Roses. And, of course, my boyfriend had to joke that for Valentine's Day he'll put on a suit, get me one rose and ask if I'll accept it (OK, I get it, that is what I get for putting him through countless hours of The Bachelor).

Have you ever been the recipient - or the giver - of an entertainment-inspired gift or gesture? Are there moments from film and television that make you wish your significant other would do something similar?

The WB is Back - Online

Who didn't love at least one show on The WB? Back in the day, it was the one network that spoke to my generation, with shows like Dawson's Creek, Felicity, and Gilmore Girls all reaching the ranks of must-see TV. But ratings dropped over the years, and in 2006, The WB and and UPN merged into the new CW; The WB was no more.

Until today, that is. As of now, the network is back as The WB.com, with full episodes and full seasons of favorite WB shows (and Warner Bros.-produced shows that aired on other networks). At its launch, the lineup includes the whole first season of Veronica Mars, 10 episodes of The OC, and a sampling of episodes from Friends, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Gilmore Girls, among others.

The site's also loaded with special features for folks who like to make their own videos, including a clip maker called the "Wblender," and a bunch of quizzes and games (I'm a little embarrassed to admit I just killed some time playing The OC Memory Match, which is just an online version of the childhood game Memory but with pictures of those pretty, pretty Orange County kids). TheWB.com has recruited Josh Schwartz, McG, and other big-name producers to create original online series for the site. Among the shows lined up:

Sorority Forever - from McG, this show is a mystery/drama set in a sorority house. It'll premiere Sept. 8.
Blue Water High - Up now, it's about an Australian surf academy.
Whatever, Hollywood - Up now, this show's about three best friends making online videos (how meta!).
Untitled Josh Schwartz Project - Schwartz and music supervisor extraordinaire Alexandra Patsavas are teaming up for a show set in the LA music world.

I know it's long over, but when I recently did a post about Logan's geekiness, many of you seemed to miss Gilmore Girls as much as I do. Like I said, I've been re-watching the show, and that's why I'm more than ready to present to you, the Gilmore Girls tech quiz!

Since Gilmore Girls ended, I've been catching up on my DVDs of the show, and I have a totally shallow bonus reason for it: Logan. Total cad-gone-good, he won Rory's heart and mine toward the end of the show when he joined the workforce? He started buying Internet properties.
