Song of the Day: M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel, "Get to the Border"

You probably know by now that I have a major girl-crush on Zooey Deschanel, and I'm also intensely smitten with M. Ward, the boyish yet poignant singer-songwriter whose Post-War was one of my top 20 albums of last year. So, I'm really have trouble containing my excitement about this duet between the singer and the actress I just discovered via The Music Slut.

Called "Get to the Border," the song will be featured in the upcoming indie film The Go-Getter, which stars Deschanel and features a cameo from Ward. You can hear the song on the movie's MySpace page. I think it's really good, and not just as a novelty item. What do you guys think?

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Are Loved Up in Vancouver

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds held hands Saturday while out for a walk in Vancouver. They also stopped in to get lunch at the city's Sophie's Cosmic Cafe. Ryan and Blake are together in his hometown north of the border for a little getaway during a break from work. Blake's just wrapped up a season of Gossip Girl, and will soon hit the road to promote her big Summer movie, Oliver Stone's Savages. The picture is out on July 6 - check out Blake and the other famous actresses of Summer movie season. She has another picture out this Friday. Her Hick, which also stars Chloe Moretz, is out May 11.

Ryan and Blake love a romantic weekend away, but are nonetheless looking to put down roots closer to NYC. Reports have suggested that the couple are looking for a home outside the city, and they've been spotted touring properties in both Connecticut and Westchester County, NY. They may have actually made a big purchase, as Ryan and Blake were rumored to have dropped $2 million on a home in Bedford, NY.

It's an adorable way to share something precious and personal with your friends, family, and followers, especially if you haven't published photos of your lil one's face yet. Here are a few tips on getting a great shot of those tiny feet and hands to share on social media.

Photograph in natural lighting: Flash photographs are usually too harsh for hands and feet photos. Opt to take the photos during the day, using natural lighting.
Adjust the focal point: The most recent phone cameras, like the iPhone 4S, enable you to focus on one subject while blurring the background. This is a simple trick to give your photo composition and added interest. On your phone, before you take the photo, tap and hold the area of focus on your screen, wait for the lens to readjust, then snap the photo.
Add mom or dad's hands: To give viewers some perspective as to just how tiny your tot's fingers and toes are, bring mom or dad's hands in the photo.
Insert funny captions: Sweeten up the photo by ad-libbing your baby's gesture or teasing the moment you just captured.
Play with Instagram filters: Experiment with all of Instagram's features. The app enables you to edit a picture's focal point, add borders, and give your photo a vintage, timeless look.

Bikini-Clad Gwen Stefani Meets Up With Shirtless Gavin Rossdale in Mexico

Gwen Stefani wore a bikini top yesterday to hit the beach in Mexico with her family. Her husband Gavin Rossdale was shirtless for the sandy adventure, and the duo had the help of a nanny keeping an eye on their young sons Kingston Rossdale and Zuma Rossdale. Gwen jetted South of the Border to meet up with Gavin, who's been on tour with Bush. Their show schedule had Gavin all over the globe in recent weeks. After a quick stint in LA shooting a small role for Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring, he went to London for a few days. Gavin's happy to have the break with his loved ones. On Sunday, he took to Twitter to write, "Mexico rules - finally decompressing - what an odyssey just getting here." The Stefani-Rossdales may be able to spend a week in Cabo. His next concert isn't until a week from today in Moline, IL.

Bring Back Instant Photography With the Polaroid Z340

I haven't given up on the instant photography movement, but I'm liking the blend of analog and digital photography that the Polaroid Z340 ($300) brings to the table. The Z340 brings together the old and new thanks to its ability to capture and instantly print images on Zink film that is smudge-proof, water- and tear-resistant, and needs zero dry time (say bye bye to "shaking it like a Polaroid picture"). It also boasts modern features, like capturing 14MP images, an SD card tray so you can store and print, or upload your pics later (or even print pics from other cameras), an LCD screen viewfinder, and the ability to print your pics with or without the classic Polaroid border. The Zink film itself runs at about $18 for 30 exposures, which isn't cheap, but will still cost less than The Impossible Project's film for your Polaroid 600.

With my own daughter's first birthday rapidly approaching, I've been obsessing over lil girl birthday parties, and so when I found the pink-inspired bash Jamielyn Nye of I Heart Nap Time recently threw for her daughter's first birthday, I fell in serious love. Emmalyn's beautiful birthday party is as girlie as it gets, with a sweet dessert table, the prettiest rose-covered cake, and one seriously adorable birthday girl. While the party offers lots of inspiration (check out the chandelier-turned-cake stand), there are many completely doable ideas (lemonade in mason jars, a cute ribbon border for the dessert table) for mamas who weren't blessed with Jamielyn's awesome creativity. Yoga is about self-acceptance and embracing little quirks in others, but let's face it - we've probably all found someone in our yoga class annoying. You may smile at them and even throw out a polite "namaste," but on the inside, you're rolling your third eye.

1. The Show-Off
Oh, you can do a handstand? Wow. Oh, you can do Scorpion Handstand with your feet on your head. Impressive. Wait, now you're folding into Lotus, lowering your knees onto your arms, and coming into some crazy Crow variation?! We get it. You're strong, flexible, and amazing. But do you need to show off all your Cirque du Soleil tricks when the rest of us are doing the humble Tree pose? Come on!

2. The Om-ing Exhaler
Every yoga class has some degree of group om-ing, chanting, and deep breathing, but it's the spontaneous and abnormally loud om-ing exhales, the huge sighs, and other random noises that really annoy. We get it, you're releasing and relaxing, but keep the feel-good noises that border on sex sounds to a minimum.

The Wide World of Wings: Salsa Verde

Wings are a game day mainstay, but before you grab that bottle of Frank's RedHot, consider a version or two that journey beyond buffalo. This week, we tread the less-beaten path through wing-dom with a look at five recipes that shed new light on our favorite chicken part.

Today, our wings get a south of the border kick with tomatillo-based salsa verde. Taking a page from the popular Mexican dish chile verde, which tempers the bright tang of this tomato relative with smoky braised pork, I simmered the salsa in some chicken broth for some added flavor depth before thickening up the sauce. Serve the wings drizzled with the salsa verde, and for an over-the-top delight, topped with sour cream and crumbled cotija cheese.

Of course, don't shun the buffalo sauce entirely. For a spectacular game day spread, fry up a large batch of wings, serve them with a variety of sauces, and let your guests pick their favorites!
