Fox Pilots: Get the Scoop on the New Shows

The upfronts are next week, and we'll find out more about the new shows coming to the Fall 2012 TV lineup, but we've got the early scoop on the series the networks have already picked up. We went over the new NBC shows, and now you can get acquainted with the new projects coming to Fox below.

COMEDIES

The Mindy Project: The Office's Mindy Kaling is executive producing and starring in this comedy as an OB/GYN figuring out her career and personal life.
The Goodwin Games: Becki Newton, Scott Foley, and Jake Lacey play estranged siblings who are brought together when their father dies and have to follow the conditions in his will in order to claim their inheritance.
Ben & Kate: Comedian Nat Faxon stars as a free spirit who moves in with his uptight sister (Dakota Johnson), who's a single mother, and helps raise her baby.

DRAMAS

The Following: Kevin Bacon stars as an FBI profiler who comes out of retirement to track down the followers of a serial killer in this thriller from The Vampire Diaries creator Kevin Williamson.
The Mob Doctor: My Boys' Jordana Spiro plays a doctor who is forced to attend to the mob in this drama, which also costars Friday Night Lights' Zach Gilford.

Friday Night Lights Ends Tonight: Share Your Favorite Show Moments

Harry Potter isn't the only thing that's ending; Friday Night Lights is on its way out too, with its series finale airing tonight on NBC. Poetically, it finally nabbed that Emmy nomination for best drama series this week, but what I think is more meaningful is how passionate viewers of the show are. FNL's fan base is a devoted one, so to send the show off, I want to hear from you guys: what are your favorite moments and memories from Friday Night Lights?

Exclusive! Proactiv Names Jurnee Smollett Its Newest Spokesperson

You might remember her as Michelle Tanner's feisty friend Denise on Full House or as hard-working high school student Jess Merriweather in Friday Night Lights, and now actress, singer, and activist Jurnee Smollett has landed a new role: Proactiv's newest spokesperson. Jurnee, who has battled acne since she was 10 years old, admits she tried just about everything, from facial treatments to doctors appointments to peels, before she had the consistent success she has found with Proactiv.

"It goes back to a few months before I was getting married," she explains. "I was shooting Friday Night Lights in Austin, [and with] the humidity, the great Texas food, the hormones, and the stress of me planning the wedding, my skin was freaking out." Although frustrated, Jurnee felt her complexion issues added a realistic element to her character. "I kept telling myself, "'I'm playing a 16-year-old high student. It's OK; high school students break out,'" she reveals. "But no one wants to break out, whether you're a teenager or not!" See the rest of Jurnee's story now.

Jessica Alba and Amy Smart linked up last night to attend Condé Nast Traveler's Hot List Party at the recently renovated Hotel Bel-Air in LA. The annual event celebrates the magazine's rankings of the worlds best destinations, hotels, and more. The ladies posed for pictures together on the red carpet, then headed inside to mingle with other celebs like Emma Roberts and her on-again man Chord Overstreet, Rachel Leigh Cook, and chef Wolfgang Puck. The hot actor is trading TV for the big screen in the upcoming Disney fantasy film John Carter, based on the classic sci fi book series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Taylor plays the title character, a Civil War vet who gets transported to Mars, where he has to save the planet and its beautiful princess, played by Lynn Collins. Taylor told us what it was like to film most of the action scenes shirtless and how he enjoys being popular with the ladies - plus he gave us the latest on the Friday Night Lights movie rumors. The Parks and Recreation Cast Reveals the Finale's Alternate Endings and Talk Twilight

Last night, a handful of the Parks and Recreation cast and crew joined forces for their PaleyFest panel in Beverly Hills. Amy Poehler (Leslie), Chris Pratt (Andy), Retta (Donna), and Jim O'Heir (Jerry) were on hand to talk about the upcoming finale and some of the new guest stars ahead, including Brad Leland (Buddy Garrity from Friday Night Lights) as one of Leslie's election opponents, Fester Trimm. They reflected on Poehler's turn in the director's chair this season and why they chose to film two totally different versions of the finale - one in which Leslie wins the election and one in which she loses. The cast also carried out cardboard cutouts of their costars not in attendance, prompting their executive producer Michael Schur to crack: "By the way, this is exactly what it’s like to talk to Aubrey Plaza." Poehler on Ben and Leslie's relationship: "I think Ben is the love of Leslie’s life, for sure. It was really great this season to get to play really big comedic moments with Adam [Scott], and really small lovely moments as well."
Pratt on his wife Anna Faris appearing on the show: "If they give us another season, I think it’s gonna happen. If we get one more season, my doggone wife is gonna come and play and be hilarious."
Schur on Tom and Anne's relationship: "We thought about this as early as season two, that they would make a terrible mistake and like, sleep together or something, and it was always in the back of our heads. . . and then, in the middle of the year, we were looking at our landscape and we have a lot of soulmate-y relationships. Leslie and Ben, Andy and April. There's a lot of true love. The point is that we were kind of like, we should just do a comedy relationship. We didn’t do it until we made sure that there was a reason - it’s very clear why Tom would be interested in Anne. I would say it’s somewhat less clear why Anne would be interested in Tom."

Schur on whether Leslie will win the election: "You’ll find out in the finale. We shot two endings, partly to hedge our bets in case we changed our minds, and partly to throw snoopy snoopers off our scent."
Poehler on performing Leslie's acceptance and concession speeches: "It was really touching and moving to do both the acceptance and concession speeches. You know, you actually find that acceptance and concession speeches about the same until the end. They thank everybody for their hard work, they realize they can't do it alone, they talk about their future, and they say congratulations to the other guy. Being on stage and talking to the cast, who are all my friends, and having to tell them thank you for this election year, and I could never do it without you, and we would never be here without the hard work from everybody - real waterworks over here from Poehler."
Poehler on the show's sentimental take on small towns: "I think there’s something very romantic about people deciding to be in love with your own small town. There’s a lot of arc in art and literature about moving to the big city, and there’s something really sweet about moving to a small town."
Retta on her personal attachment to the Twilight episode: "The third [book in the series is] good sex! It was bananas. I was beside myself!"
Poehler on directing: "It was really a huge opportunity for me. I’m really grateful for it and it was like a dream come true, like every moment on this show is for me, to be able to work with these actors in a different way. We had a really big show, it was a lot of cameras and extras, and when Louis C.K. was on the show I kind of asked him his advice on how do you direct yourself. And I don’t remember what he said. So. . . ."
Poehler on whether she'll be a part of Arrested Development's return: "I’ll get coffee for them, I’ll do whatever they want me to do. I know Will [Arnett], my husband, is really excited about it."
