First Look: Heather Locklear Back at Melrose Place!

Last week Heather Locklear confirmed her return to Melrose Place, and here are the first photos as she reprises her role as Amanda Woodward. It's been 10 years since she wreaked havoc on the famous apartment complex, but Locklear still looks fabulous and fierce in her little red dress. Katie Cassidy may step right into Amanda's shoes on the new Melrose Place, but I can't wait until the original bitch is back! Are you as excited as I am?

First Look: Timothy Olyphant in Lawman

If you've been looking forward to seeing Timothy Olyphant wearing a badge again ever since it was reported that he'd be starring in the new show Lawman for FX, now's the time. In this first clip released from the show, which will begin airing sometime in 2010, Olyphant pretty much acts like exactly the badass I was hoping he would be.

Lawman is based on an Elmore Leonard short story and stars Olyphant as US Marshal Raylan Givens, who returns to his Kentucky hometown to - apparently - put the smack down on modern-day skinheads and others who cross him. Writer Graham Yost once said this character seemed "like he was born 100 years too late," and I believe it: his whole look and attitude seem like something from an earlier time. Actually, it reminds me a little of No Country for Old Men in that way. Want to check out the scene for yourself? Just read more.

First Look: Fringe Season Two

I had something of a love-hate relationship with Fringe during its first season. On the one hand, I loved the dynamic between the main characters - FBI agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv), brilliant-but-crazy scientist Walter Bishop (John Noble), and his wisecracking son, Peter (Joshua Jackson). On the other hand, I thought the show was inconsistent, sometimes relying too much on a formula and other times throwing too much crazy science at us too fast.

But the show definitely picked up steam as the season went on, and I thought it ended on a strong note with some big reveals about the Fringe universe and the characters who live in it. And after hearing about some of what's coming up at TCA - and watching the first episode of the new season, which I found awfully compelling - I'm officially back on the Fringe bandwagon.

And this quick little new promo definitely helps. I especially like how much more involved Peter seems in the goings-on of Fringe Division this year, and I'm curious to see how the show deals with the two universes it's set up. First Look at 90210 Season Two: Love It or Leave It?

The 90210 kids took a Summer hiatus from West Beverly, but don't worry - we'll get to see their vacation adventures and more when the show returns in the Fall. Just this week I asked my five questions for the show, and one has already been answered, so click here for the spoiler-y inside scoop. In this new preview, the CW is still trying to keep the show's marketing fresh and scandalous (a la these new previews for Gossip Girl), but use of the word "macking" is a fail if I ever saw one. Check it out for yourself and tell me what you think of this glimpse of 90210 season two - love it or leave it?

First Look: Gossip Girl Season Three (Now With More Videos!)

First Gossip Girl made OMFG into a sexy ad campaign. Now, it's WTF - as in, Watch This Fall. But this first promo for season three had me saying WTF for other reasons, just trying to figure out what drama came to our Gossip kids over the Summer.

Update: And now I've got some more short videos, each showing what a particular character has been up to over the past couple of months.

In the main preview, Serena appears to get herself in the middle of a paparazzi scandal, Dan looks to be the king of a college party, and Chuck Bass - unsurprisingly - finds himself tempted to stray from Blair. Also, there's a shirtless scene involving horses, and if anything has ever called for a WTF, it might be that. I think the most intriguing stuff happens in the character videos, where Blair looks sad and out of place at NYU, Dan gets an intriguing new make-out partner, and we get our first look at Joanna Garcia as a new love interest for Nate.

First Look: Californication Season Three

What happens when you put notorious womanizer Hank Moody in a classroom full of lovely college girls? That's what we'll find out when Californication starts its third season this Fall. From the preview below, I can guess that nothing wholesome will come from this situation, but it should be awfully entertaining.

When the new season begins, school's in session for Hank (David Duchovny), and with Karen across the country, Hank seems to be embracing his freedom. How much trouble can this "girl whisperer" (as guest star Peter Gallagher calls him in the preview clip) get into? I had to laugh when Hank's daughter asks why there's a naked lady in her bedroom - isn't that just par for the course in the Moody household?

Gallagher is just one of many guest stars lined up for this season: Kathleen Turner, Eva Amurri, Ed Westwick, Diane Farr, and Rick Springfield will also make appearances. The new season kicks off Sept. 27, and to get your first look, just read more.

First Look: Greek Season Three

When I first saw there was a new promo for season three of Greek, I thought, "Oh, this'll be fun!" And there's certainly fun stuff in it, don't get me wrong: There are half-naked guys and big ol' foam dart guns and Dale talking about "doing the nasty."

But at the same time, this new promo looks awfully . . . heavy. Ashleigh's in tears at one point. Cappie's getting sage, solemn advice from Evan. And Evan gets slapped in the face, literally. (OK, that part's pretty fun.)

Greek looks to be picking up right where it left off with the Cappie/Casey relationship, with them both single for the first time in ages and yet refusing to be together. I'm really wondering what's next for these two, and I assume there will have to be more obstacles cropping up than just their own stubbornness.

I think the only thing really missing from this trailer is a dose of evil, now that Frannie's gone. I'm fully expecting Rebecca Logan to stir up trouble this season; should I be concerned she's barely glimpsed in this first promo?

First Look: Heroes Season Four

Will "Redemption," the new volume of Heroes premiering this Fall, mean redemption for the show itself? The show premiered to huge ratings, buzz, and Emmy recognition back in 2006, but the past few seasons have seen viewers dropping out and critical praise diminishing.

But now, the show seems to be entering a dramatic new phase, punctuated by the introduction of a roving, sinister carnival that recruits people with powers for nefarious purposes. (Robert Knepper, who plays carnival ringleader Samuel, was just promoted to series regular, so this story looks like it'll stick around for a while.) We see clips of that in the trailer below, which has scenes from the season premiere and a few episodes to follow.

What else? Well, there's Claire off at college with a new roommate/possible love interest (apparently this version of the trailer cuts out a kiss that the audience at Comic-Con got to see). We see Hiro - and young Hiro - at the carnival. And a few heroes appear to die, but who knows if they're dead for good? Also, various characters say "redemption" a whole lot, just to remind us what it's all about.

First Look: The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus

As director Terry Gilliam says in this teaser video, his fantastical movie The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus is "full of magic and wonder, the stuff of dreams." Now having caught a few clips from the movie at Comic-Con (and you can check them out after the jump), I think that's even putting it mildly. This is a lush, dark, whimsical and chilling film that I think we'll feel more than just watch.

Most people know this movie as "Heath Ledger's Last Appearance," and after his death, three high-profile actors (Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Colin Farrell) stepped in to complete his role. As for the actual plot, it follows an immortal doctor (played by Christopher Plummer) with a traveling theatrical group and a magical mirror who must give up his daughter (Lily Cole) to the devil (Tom Waits) on her sixteenth birthday. Ledger/Depp/Law/Farrell play a masked supporting character named Tony (after Tony Blair).

In San Diego, Gilliam explained some more about the movie and Ledger's involvement:

I don't think it's ever happened before that a main actor dies, and three A-list actors come in and take over his part. It tells you how much they cared about him. It was unbelievably brave and foolish. There was no time to prepare. We had Johnny for one day, three and a half hours. He just came in and did it. I'd shown them some clips of some of the stuff that Heath had done. I didn't know that it was going to work, but it did.

There's so much luck involved with this movie. . . . Each one of the choices that were forced upon us improved the film. I've been saying Heath co-directed it - he forced me to do all these things differently, to make a better film than I was making.
