YouTube Adds In-Site Video Editor

New options now exist for editing videos of your favorite feline friend on YouTube. The website just introduced an
in-browser editor for previously uploaded videos.

The service is intended for quick fixes to videos already on the site and not as a general video editing tool. It allows the user to make changes to a video without the hassle of uploading new content or losing pageviews and comments. Rotate a video, stabilize shaky footage, adjust brightness and color levels, and add basic lens effects, like lomo or comic book. In traditional YouTube/Google form, the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button provides one-click overall color correction. Should you not like the edits, just revert back to the video's original uploaded settings.

Behind the Scenes: Children of Men

Yesterday Children of Men received a number of Oscar nominations, including Achievements in Cinematography and Film Editing, both of which I think are fully deserved. Director Alfonso Cuaron has been lauded for the complicated, highly-choreographed scenes in the film that were shot without interruption - particularly a battle scene in which Clive Owen and four others are riding in a car and an angry mob descends upon them.

So I was excited to find a very cool behind-the-scenes clip that explains how they pulled off the remarkable sequence. With the help of a complex device surrounding the vehicle and a pivoting camera inside, the entire scene was filmed without any cuts. The amount of preparation and cooperation required of the cast and crew to time everything just right is tremendous. You'll see what I mean if you watch the video, so

The Expendables 2 Trailer: Liam Hemsworth Shoots and Scores

The bad boys of The Expendables are back in the trailer for the sequel, and this time they have a hot, new secret weapon: Liam Hemsworth. Given that the original film features action stars of many decades (including Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, and Chuck Norris), it seems fitting that they've made room for the Hunger Games star as their latest edition (fun fact: Hemsworth was originally cast in the first film, but his part was cut). In The Expendables 2, Hemsworth joins the gang as a sniper named Billy the Kid as they face down a villain played by Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Don't try to follow too much of the story in the trailer, though; it's mostly a mélange of shoot-'em-up sequences, fistfights, and explosions. It's not that it's not fun, however, and it's definitely worth the watch to see Hemsworth in action star mode. The movie comes out on Aug. 17, and you can check out the trailer when you

From Birth to 12 in Two Minutes

The Internet is teeming with inspiring time-lapse videos of still cityscapes and natural wonders, but the latest time-lapse creation from Dutch photographer Frans Hofmeester highlights a very different sense of the world in motion. Frans filmed his now 12-year-old daughter, Lotte, weekly from her birth to early adolescence and edited together the videos for a time-lapse story of her life. From the moments stitched together in the film, we watch as Lotte grows from a baby cooing at the camera to a cranky toddler, to an elementary school student losing her baby teeth, and to a preteen chatting endlessly for the camera.

Leo Takes His Own Cancun Spring Break With Django Unchained

Leonardo DiCaprio headed down to Cancun over the weekend for Sony's annual Spring junket, with this year's version dubbed "Summer of Sony 4 Spring Edition." The company takes advantage of a chance to show off their upcoming crop of films, which includes Leo's Django Unchained from director Quentin Tarantino. Quentin and Leo were side by side for yesterday's photocall, as were DiCaprio's costars Kerry Washington, Jamie Foxx, and Christoph Waltz. Django is a reunion for Christoph and Quentin, who worked together on 2009's Inglourious Basterds. Leo and the gang have been shooting the movie back in America. Production on the picture meant that Leo missed out on promoting his other big-screen project, the rerelease of Titanic in 3D.

Nicole Kidman Takes Off From Australia With Keith and the Girls

Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban boarded a flight out of Sydney yesterday afternoon with daughters Faith and Sunday. It was the latest adventure for the jet-setting foursome, who were together in the US just a few weeks ago. All the intercontinental travel allows the family to be together while Keith is busy filming an Australian edition of The Voice. He's one of the mentors on the program, along with Joel Madden, Delta Goodrem, and Seal.

They're heading back to America so that Keith can perform at Sunday's Academy of Country Music Awards, which will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The show will be broadcast Sunday evening at 7 p.m. on CBS. Keith will be on stage along with many of his fellow musical superstars, including Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, and Blake Shelton.
