Blake Lively Gets Sweet With Her Family Following a Day on Set

Blake Lively posed with a heart-shaped box of Godiva chocolates at the launch of the brand's Sweetest Story Ever Told Contest in NYC last night. She wore Valentino for the sweet evening and had her parents, Elaine and Ernie, along for support. Blake's mom, Elaine, was spotted on set with her this week while boyfriend Ryan Reynolds is overseas promoting Safe House. Ryan and Blake will be able to reunite soon, though, since his press tour will take him to the Big Apple in the coming days. Dating was the topic of conversation in a recent Elle interview with Blake, in which she insisted she's "had four boyfriends in my whole life. I've never been with anyone that's not a boyfriend."

Bert and Ernie Tell You How to Get to Sesame Street and Everywhere Else

Guess who knows how to get to Sesame Street? Given Bert and Ernie's new job, it's a safe bet that they know their way around town. The Sesame Street duo are the latest to lend their voices to TomTom navigation system, making a traffic jam a lot more fun for everyone in the car.

For $13, parents can download the popular characters' voices to help them navigate their way anywhere from grandma's house to the local gymnastics class, adding a lil humor to the ride, such as, "U-turn ahead, Bert. Just me turn? All of us Bert." Take a look at a clip of the characters trying to record for the system and tell us, are they a fun distraction for antsy passengers or a headache waiting to happen for mom?

Not only do these crazy puppets touch both children and adults, the Muppets have managed to stay relevant and in the know even as the times continue to change.

After starting off as a mostly male crew, additional strong female characters made the Muppets more inclusive. And this year, people petitioned for Bert and Ernie to get married, making them a symbol for gay rights. Blake Lively headed to Paris in time for Fall Fashion Week, and on Saturday she shopped around the city with her mom, Elaine, to pick out new red-heeled shoes alongside Christian Louboutin himself. She sported a new pair, or perhaps one of the 40 she bought at his sample sale last year, that evening when she threw on her latest Chanel party frock for a dinner at their Rue Gambon headquarters. It was the second dinner toasting Blake's appointment as the new face of their Mademoiselle handbag line following a meal last week in NYC. Blake sported one of Karl Lagerfeld's white creations to that event - who do you think rocked her Chanel better, Blake or Diane Kruger? Blake granted the New York Times an interview to discuss her long-awaited gig with the legendary French brand. She said of finally snagging the job, "I had other opportunities and I would say, 'Thank you so much, but I am holding out for Chanel.' That’s who I want to be the face of. And people would say, 'Well, that’s unrealistic, they only hire Europeans,' and I said: 'Well, how great. I’ll be the first then.'" Let us know what you think of her first ad!

Petition Asks Sesame Street: Let Bert and Ernie Get Married!

An online petition sponsored by Change.org asks Sesame Street to take Bert and Ernie's roommate relationship to the next level by outing the puppets with a gay wedding. The petition says letting Bert and Ernie out of the closet would show kids that it's OK to be gay. There are currently more than 1,500 signatures. The letter reads:

In this horrific age of LGBT kids taking their own lives, they need to know that they ARE BEAUTIFUL and their lives are worth living. Aside from those that are committing suicide, the bullies that facilitate these tragedies need to learn that homophobia is NOT okay. They need to know that acceptance of their fellow human beings would indeed plant a seed of peace that will reverberate throughout the world. We are not asking that Sesame Street do anything crude or disrespectful. Only that they allow Bert & Ernie to marry or even add a transgender character to the show. It can be done in a tasteful way. Let us teach tolerance of those that are different. Let Sesame Street and PBS Kids be a big part in saving many worthy lives.

California recently passed a bill requiring lessons on gay historical figures in social studies classrooms, but a gay couple on Sesame Street could likely do more to increase children's awareness across the country. The change wouldn't have to be drastic - Bert and Ernie could simply act like other muppet couples. And it wouldn't be the first tough subject the show has taken on. Sesame Street has tackled divorce and race, among other topics.
